Saw someone pushing this concept that trans people have "unrealistic expectations" of transitioning because of anime and I ignored it cuz it's stupid racist horseshit but like, it's stuck in my head so I'm just gonna say this.
"TRAs want to be little anime girls so bad" is literally a weird ass online terf thing and this idea of random people who are typically pro trans saying that anime is creating unrealistic expectations of transition just feels like they had a terf phase but never unlearned the dumbassery. Trans people at large do not want to be anime characters and understand that those are not realistic characters they could ever achieve. Rather it's most likely Hollywood and American television pushing unrealistic beauty standards that create unrealistic expectations. And that's if you even believe that many people actually have those expectations.
It really just comes off as a deflection. Blame the thing it's ok to blame. It's the Japanese cartoon's fault. Obvi anime isn't perfect with the portrayal of bodies but also the majority of trans people are not expecting to transition into a high school shoujo protagonist. Go talk to real people for once.
It’s so funny that cauldron was doing all this horrific experimentation in order to find broken powers that were never supposed to be given out to anyone, in the hopes that one of those impossible powers might possibly be able to meaningfully hurt scion in a way he was counting on humans not having access to.
And then scion just handed out The Entity Killer to lily as a natural trigger, straight up. She clustered even, there’s three different people with that power naturally.
Internal monologue while scanning an archive of public domain photos: ooh yeah that guy with a weird expression would make a great enemy in my collage game, I should clip that out and add it to the big file where I’m saving all the heads so I can see them all when designing larger enemies
What I apparently said out loud within hearing range of my roommates who had no idea what I was doing: oh, that one’s going in my head repository
What, the forest-dwelling entities with imperfect human mimicry who insinuate themselves into groups of hikers? Yeah, we had one of those. Clocked it immediately, of course. Honestly it kind of fell in that so-inept-it's-kind-of-charming range. We just played along until it'd had it's fill of marshmallows and shambled back into the treeline. We might have been violating some kind of killjoy wildlife contact best practices but what the hell, can't plan around every little thing. Why, what happened to you guys
If you were transformed into any DND monster of your choice, what would you pick?
Mimic.
At last my twin passions of sitting very still doing nothing and eating people can be fulfilled at once!

love how the ming dynasty has a long series of really competent and hardworking and idealistic emperors who each get on the throne and go i’m going to be the best emperor ever, unlike my good-for-nothing predecessor who let the bureaucrats make all the decisions while he sat back and worked in his hobbies! and then they realize that the squabbling confucian bureaucracy has gridlocked the government so badly that the emperor couldn’t make any decisions even if he wanted to and they’re like ohhhh i get it now
