Re-watching X-Men: Evolution, and I always get so angry in the first episode about how Todd gets treated.

When Kurt gets brought in, he's comforted, given a room and a holo-watch. But when Xavier finds out about Todd, he tells Storm to "audition" him. Why? To show he's a mutant? Cerebro already identified him as a mutant, so that's bullshit. No one else has to do a combat audition to join the X-Men.

Xavier also doesn't tell TODD that this is an audition, he just sends Storm and Kurt to kick his ass. Then, after Todd almost dies in the "audition" he (justifiably!) bolts. Xavier just says "he wasn't ready to be one of us." BRO. YOU HAD HIM ATTACKED.

Todd is constantly the butt of jokes about him being ugly and dirty, but he's literally a poor, starving teenager. He doesn't appear to have any family. The closest thing he has to a guardian is Mystique, who is a wire mother if there ever was one.

Todd isn't in the Brotherhood because he loves evil, he's in it because his alternative is literal homelessness. Sure, Xavier technically says he's "welcome to join the X-Men" but only after having him smacked around.

This is today’s mood. Im just a crying little mess.

I feel like in the marvel universe the Catholic Church probably funds anti mutant organizations and the pope has used anti mutant slurs on several occasions and all of the X-men are wondering if/how Kurt reacts to this
