I just think it’s really interesting that once I became more visibly Jewish- wearing a tichel or kippah on a daily basis, wearing my hamsa, learning Yiddish- I was immediately faced with (misdirected) transmisogyny- being called transmisogynistic specific slurs, being followed and harrassed off buses, being followed and watched in women’s bathrooms, etc.

It goes to show that transmisogynists and terfs base their ideas on what womanhood is on a white, European, racist, antisemetic, patriarchal caricature of womanhood, and not actual womanhood, which is intrisic to each women, normal or cis.

I think about Akihiko and Misaki's wedding a lot.

-Akihiko will spend ridiculous amounts of money on it. It will be extravagant.

-Misaki begs Akihiko to tell him the cost of the enormous, upscale venue in the heart of Tokyo, but he refuses.

-Misaki will act pissy and angry at the frivolous spending. Usagi will tell him "We'll only get married once." and Misaki will get quiet and blush furiously.

-Misaki: "Stop it! We don't need this big of a cake, Kaoruko-San. You don't even like sweets, Usagi-San!" "How much were these floral arrangements!? Why are there so many!?" "We don't need pianist, a harpist, and a violinist." "A five-course meal!?" "Doves? A thousand dove send off??"

-Akihiko was not going to invite his parents and brother, but Misaki did anyway. (It was a whole dramatic thing, of course.)

-Seating arrangements were another debacle.

-Takahiro will cry and hug everyone.

-Suzuki-San and Jr. will sit in the front row in their best suits.

-Isaka is there and he is way more excited than he should be. (Thank God Asahina is there to reign him in)

-Manami is a BAMF. Misaki is an anxious mess before the wedding and she reassures him. She tells Misaki about how nervous she was at her wedding, but it was one of the best things she's ever done, and she knows he loves Usami and he won't regret it.

-Haruhiko will corner Misaki right before the ceremony and profess his love once again. Usagi will catch him and chase him off.

-Misaki will be pissed that Usagi is there and sees him before the wedding because it's bad luck. Usagi tells him that he couldn't wait to see him. Queue smutty sex scene and declarations of love.

-Aikawa will be happy for them, but lamenting about how Usami-Sensei got married before her and she isn't getting any younger.

-Nowaki keeps pointing out things and saying to Hiroki, "We should do that at our wedding." Hiroki just scowls in outrage.

-Ijuuin was invited by Misaki. Akihiko hates that's he's there and is so very polite to him. Ijuuin brings Yanase as his plus one. They sneak a kiss every chance they get.

-Misaki will have been working at Marukawa Shoten for awhile at this point, so surely some of your SiH faves are there.

-Fuyuhiko tries to say something shitty to Misaki, but Misaki tries not to let it get to him. He also brings a giant woodcarving of a bear in a tuxedo as a wedding gift. Natsuko wants nothing to do with him.

-Mahiro is the ring bearer.

-They don't have anyone stand up with them as a formal wedding party because Akihiko refuses to share their moment with anyone else.

-Sebas- Tanaka officiates the wedding. He doesn't stop smiling the entire day.

-They wrote their own vows. Akihiko's vows are a poetic masterpiece. Misaki's are simple, but powerful.

-Those matching rings tho.

-The kiss is exquisite. Everyone goes wild and cheers.

-The cake Kaoruko made is 5 tiers and 6 feet tall. It's white and covered in roses. The cake topper is tiny figures of Akihiko and Misaki with the bears.

-Mizuki tags behind Kaoruko the whole time while she demands he helps her with the cake and gets her refreshments. She also forces him to dance with her. He acts pissed about it, but we all know he is in heaven.

-Ijuuin and Kaoruko chat like bffs while Yanase and Mizuki stand there stoic beside them, jealous and angry.

-The first dance between Akihiko and Misaki is precious. Who knew Akihiko is such a flawless dancer? (He had lessons as a kid, go figure.)

-Isaka has too much wine and tries to dance with everyone and hangs all over Haruhiko. (Thank God Asahina takes him back home)

-Usagi is annoyed and desperate to leave the reception early and steal Misaki away to their luxury honeymoon.

-Todo thinks the party is fun, but is kind of confused because it really does seem like a wedding for some reason, and he's not sure why.

HEY ALL CONSIDER THIS A NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION OF SORTS, BUT

I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE

For a while now I have felt very unhappy and unsatisfied with pharmacy school. But I’ve been going along with it since it felt like there was no way I could try and attempt to support myself through art.

However

Recently due to the support of AMAZING PEOPLE LIKE YOU, the dream doesn’t feel so far away! SO here is the deal

I’m at around 1500 dollars a month on Patreon right now, and I’ve decided that if I can make it to 2,000 dollars a month before the semester ends (in May), I will take a a ONE YEAR LEAVE OF ABSENCE FROM PHARMACY SCHOOL starting this summer.

In that year I will dedicate myself to creating art and try and see if I could reasonably support myself with this passion of mine alone! If it looks like I could succeed, I will quit pharmacy school. If it doesn’t work out, then I will return to school at the end of the year!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

I love how Cartman is basically overweight even as a kindergartener. XD

I was thinking about why Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond is so hated.

The obvious answer is because of the horrible things she did.

But the other diamonds did horrible things too…worse things even.

Pink abandoned Spinel, which is wrong, but Spinel was planning to kill every living thing on Earth to spite the son of a person who was no longer even alive. Yet, no one talks about what a monster Spinel is.

So many Steven Universe characters have hurt people, but we forgive them and are happy to see them redeemed.

So why not Rose?

Then, it hit me: because Rose’s redemption arc is told to us in reverse.

The first time we see Rose is toward the end of her life when she is pregnant with Steven. We see her appreciation for life and how full of love she is for Greg and her future child. She’s willingly sacrificing herself to bring a new life into the world.

But then, we start learning who Rose used to be, all her mistakes, all the people she hurt.

The loving mother in Steven’s video becomes a distant memory.

For those of you who hate Rose, imagine her backstory unfolded a little differently for us.

We’re introduced to Pink Diamond: she’s spoiled, bratty, immature, irresponsible, and inconsiderate.

She throws temper tantrums when she doesn’t get her way.

Not exactly an endearing character, right?

But one day, her tantrum injure Pink Pearl, her best friend. From that day on, she keeps everything to herself. Now we see her dealing with a consequence of her bad behavior.

Then we see how she’s abused by the other diamonds. We start to sympathize with her.

We see her try to save Earth. We see her trying to do the right thing for once.

But it backfires horribly.

She spends the rest of her life trying to fix it, but she can’t.

She meets Greg. Here is where Rose has the most emotional growth as a character. She learns what is truly means to be a “real person.”

Finally, she grows such an appreciation for human life, that she decides to sacrifice her form to bring her son into the world.

The reason Rose is so much more controversial than other characters who have done problematic things is because her story is told in reverse, her redemption comes across as a fall from grace.

But there are plenty of characters who have a fall from grace who are still not as controversial as Rose. The reason why many people are less sympathetic to Rose is because we never see how Rose reacts to her mistakes. We never get much insight into how Rose feels about herself and the things she’s done. We get small hints:

For everyone who hates Rose, I get why. But I think we need to remember who she became instead of who she was.
