how did you get to know the stratagems?

I remember -- that recording booth. Four faces in that glass reflection. Long session, but boy, was it worth it! I remember jam sessions, a crowd, a banner with their names on it. It comes in bits and pieces.

The first memory of them I rightly recall, I'd say, is sitting across from them. One of their living rooms, I think, with a little brown Steinway upright in the corner. All four of them crowded casual-like onto the couch across from me. Strains of a rag in the air, with us all tapping along to it, the music vibrating through our feet and bones. Next thing I know, I'm looking down at the ivories of that Steinway, and we're all making a tune!

Today, Henry told me about “hiking”. Don’t think I’d ever gone on a hike before, though I’ve certainly been told to take one! I’m not really a fella with one of those proclivities for hard exercise. Don’t think I’ve really worn anything but a suit in my life. Must have, at some point. What do I sleep in? But a guy can’t scale a boulder in high-grade patent coltskin button boots, even if their heels are “military”!

those're adorable uh right, for my own facts 1. i've been bad at handwriting since i was a kid. had to take remedial handwriting lessons which are not fun at all 2. when thomas gets stretched out too far he kind of fades out, but for me and mal and maybe everyone after her, everything just kind of stops working. usually i don't even notice i've been gone. 3. um. this is hard. im kind of a boring person. i guess one thing i like about the abime is i don't have to clip my nails anymore. i always hated the noise and feeling of it.
