"You aren’t having lunch with us?" My friends look at me as I walk besides them and I shake my head.

"I'll have lunch with Nick." I give them a weak smile and they nod. It has been a while since I have felt this way, my phycologist says its normal to have step backs in the process of healing, but it’s really shitty to feel like I haven’t improved at all. My phone dings and it's Nick saying that he was outside my waiting for me, after saying goodbye to my friends I walk outside campus and see Nick standing outside Matt’s van. I smile and walk up to him and hug him.

"Hi, how have you been? excited for vacations?" he whispers to my ear.

"Yes, I can’t wait to go to the beach next week." I kiss his cheek quickly and enter the car. "Hi Matt, where is Chris?"

"Hello." Matt says looking at me from the rear-view mirror. "He is already on the park with everyone else."

"Cool, let’s go then." to be honest I was excited for the picnic, but yesterday something happened, I don’t know what, I don’t know why, but I don’t want to eat today, I don’t feel like it, I feel like I will cry if I do. Nicks hand grabs mine, kisses my knuckles and places our hands on his leg to play with my fingers.

once we arrived to the park we walk to a quiet part, where our friends were setting the picnic up. Chris come up to us and hugs me.

"Hiiiii! How was your exam? I hope fine, I bought you a drink." I wrap my arms around him and pat his back twice, he then let’s go and hands me a carton juice.

"Thanks Chris, and it was fine, I passed."

"GREAT! let’s eat to celebrate." Chris walks to the group again and sits beside Matt.

Nick and I sit next to Madi, who was talking with Nick about out trip to the beach next week. I sit between Nicks legs, his back against a tree, my back against his chest. I look down at the food Infront of me and gulp, the smell and all the food together make me feel sick. I look down at the juice Chris gave me and start playing with it, moving it around and tossing it here and there.

"Hey, you, okay?" Nick whispers to my ear. I turn my face a bit and look at him in the eyes.

"Yeah, just kind of tired. I’m okay."

"Okay." he kisses my cheek and keeps talking with someone, I don’t know who, my face goes back down to my hands.

"Hey, you aren’t hungry?" Madi’s voice is soft against my ears. I feel my stomach turn and I shake my head.

"No, I... I had lunch at uni."

"Oh, okay. If you want any snacks there is plenty." she gives me a warm smile that I try to give back.

"I’m going for a walk, be tight back." Nick stands up and grabs my hand making me stand up too. "Let’s go."

We walk around the park for a while. Nick buys a sandwich on a local restaurant nearby and we sit on a random bench.

"Did you really eat at uni?" he looks at me in the eyes and I feel my eyes water, I look down at my hands. "Don't lie to me, don't do that." I shake my head slowly. "Did you have breakfast?" I push my lips to the side and he lets out a sigh. "Okay, I know you had dinner, we ate together... Baby, look at me." I raise my head again, looking at him in the eyes. "Did something happen?" I shake my head. "Okay... you have you eat you know it." I nod, his faces seem hurt. "Help me eat this, okay?"

"Nick, I don't know if I can." I whisper.

"Just help me, we will do it together, okay?" I nod slowly. He opens the juice he also bought and handed it to me. "Drink first, it will help with the taste." I drink a bit of the orange juice, and let out a sigh as I watch him unwrap the sandwich.

"You've got this. We will take as long as you need."

Your pov

"Dude, I can’t believe we fucking lost that round, that kid was insane". Chris sounds in my headphones as I stretch my arms a bit and let out a sigh.

"Yeah, it’s a bummer, I still wanna play a bit more, or are you tired?" I look at the clock in the corner of my monitor it reads12:36 it’s not that late but still I wanted to be sure.

"No, I’m fine, I can play for a while. So, how was your day?"

"Great, just the normal stuff" I say as the loading screen changes to the actual game. "I talked with my crush a bit, that was cool"

"What? wait, you have a crush?" Chris sounds between confused and exited.

"Yes? well, it’s more than that, I really like them."

"How come I didn’t know about this??" I grab my control when the game starts and play as I talk.

"I don’t know, I haven’t really told anyone, it’s kind of dumb really"

"Why would you say that? I mean, I’m sure your crush would like you back" I hear rustling in the other side of the line, a little thud like someone got up from a bed or a chair quickly and Chris mumbling.

"I just don’t think he likes me back, he’s so cool and handsome, also very popular, I’m sure he wouldn’t pay attention to me"

Nick’s pov

"Nick, shut up, imma play fortnite with y/n." I lower the volume on my phone and look at Chris' monitor, y/n's and Chris profile pictures filling the screen with the typical close call and add people settings at the bottom.

I look at y/n's photo and smile, it’s a good photo, I took it myself when we went out to the park a few weeks ago. I shake my head as I hear Chris scream something about winning all the round and doing a bet with y/n, I start scrolling again in my phone.

everything was normal until I hear Chris say "What? wait, you have a crush?" and I sit up in the bed, what is he talking about? is he talking about y/n? does he have a crush on someone?

"Who is it?" I whisper to Chris, concerned, nervous, what if it isn’t me? am I being overdramatic?

"Why would you say that? I mean, I’m sure your crush would like you back" Chris says and I can’t take it anymore, I stand up and almost trip with a wire that was laying across the room, and walk besides Chris I lean close to his headset so I can hear what they are talking about, this kid really needs to lower the volume of those things.

"Maybe, I don’t know. we are just such good friends, also we have lots of friends in common, I don’t want to like ruin our friendship or anything" Chris just hums and I keep talking

"But sometimes he gives me mixed signal, like he grabs my hands or tells me I look handsome when I ask him to take pictures of me or gives me his hoodies when I’m cold and forget mine... but maybe he's just being friendly and I’m crazy" I let out a sigh as the screen displays the winning screen, we actually won a round tonight.

"But you'll never know unless you tell him"

"I have been thinking about it, I’m just too nervous to do it, also I want it to be perfect that’s why I wanted to talk to you about it" I start to get a little nervous, I know Chris could keep a secret, but this was different, it was about his brother, what if he doesn’t want me to date him? what if Nick already likes someone else?

I hear Chris chuckle "why? do I know him?"

"Yeah, really well, I mean, you grew up together"

"What? do you like-..." he doesn't get to finish the sentence, I cut him off.

"Nick. I like Nick..."

There is silence, I freak out a bit.

Nick’s pov

did I hear that right? y/n likes me? I look at Chris dumbfounded, the boy I have been annoying my brothers with how much I liked him and how perfect, handsome, smart and cute I thought he is likes me back.

"No way" I say out loud.

Chris tries to silence me but it’s too late, the microphone picked my voice up. I hear y/n freak out a bit, I can imagine him flustered and shocked, exactly how he gets when I compliment his outfits or his hair. I hear Chris apologizing and saying he didn’t mean to; he didn’t know it was me.

"I thing you two maybe... need to talk about this?" Chris laughs a bit, turns off his microphone and tells me to go to my room, I nod and rush to my room to open y/n's chat, I don’t know what to say, I type and erase everything. I don’t know if I should text him or if he will text me, I roll around in the bed restless waiting for a notification.

"CHRIS WHAT THE FUCK??" I yell to the screen

"I’m sorry dude, I didn’t know, I mean, maybe I knew but I wasn’t with a bad intention, Nick was just here and I didn’t think he would listen"

"Shit, shit... it's okay... what do you mean you knew??"

"I mean, you two are like crazy for each other. no offence but it was getting stupidly crazy how you two are just blind, like the way you look at each other, talk, and fucking blush... insane."

"What? no, Nick doesn't... does he?" I cover my face with my hands and let out a groan, I’m so fucking stupid.

"Good night, Chris... thanks" I hung up the call and put my head set on the table, closing all the tabs in my computer and shutting it off. I throw myself into the bed, grab my phone and call Nick.

it rings once, he picks up, and doesn’t say anything.

"Hi..." I say quietly "I didn't know you were there; I understand if you don’t feel the same way..."

"don't fucking start with that bullshit y/n, I like you, you idiot" my face heats up, I let out a big sigh so relief.

"Oh my god, I was so scared... so, would you like to go out tomorrow?"

"Are you asking me out on a date?" Nick is smiling, I can’t tell from how his voice sounds

"Yes, of course I am, dinner and maybe movies at my place, whatever, I just want to see you"

"Yes, to everything."

"All right then, see you tomorrow then. I’ll go pick you up at 7:40"

"Sounds amazing, good night" he hangs up, I can’t stop smiling, I text Chris, he sends me a picture of Nick entering his room with a wide smile on his face and Matt behind him with a smirk.

I better sleep quickly to see him sooner.

I guess they finished whatever they had to do earlier, and I guess we were so caught up in the moment we didn’t hear them park outside and enter the house. I guess we didn’t hear them until it was to late.

‘’NIIIIICK LOOK WHAT I BOUGHT… OH SHIT!’’ Chris opens the door and scream when he sees us, Nick jumps off the bed and stands up quickly our faces red, Nick rushes to the door and slams it on his face.

‘’All right.’’ I stand up and we walk to the door, Nick opens it up and Chris and Matt are still standing there.

‘’So! What about we go out, we get to know each other and then we have dinner.’’ Chris proposes.
