Here I Am, Next To You (You Pull At My Seams) - An Avatrice And MaryShannon Fanfiction

Here I Am, Next to You (You Pull at My Seams) - An Avatrice and MaryShannon fanfiction

Hey everyone! Here’s an extract from my new summer romance fic, featuring in equal measure Avatrice and MaryShannon! If you like what you read, the link to the full chapter will be at the end!

On the other side of the pool, Ava was paddling away from the shallow part. She ignored the pain in her limbs and pressed on, all the while Mary was calling from the side of the pool.

“Ava, come back on this side. Don’t you want to learn how to swim properly, rather than… whatever you’re doing?”

Ava shrugged off her comments.

“I’m fine,” she shouted back.

She was in the middle of the pool now, where the ground was so deep that she couldn’t feel it even with the tip of her toes. She was paddling her arms and legs as fast as she could to keep her head above the water. On the side of the pool, a young woman in a black swimming suit stepped up to the diving board. She had long, strong legs. Her hair was hidden beneath a black swimming cap, though a few small one still peaked out, plastered on the nape of her neck. Droplets of water had collected in the hollow of her throat, now running over to the edge of her swimsuit.

Ava forgot to paddle. She stared. It lasted only long enough that she felt herself sinking beneath the water. Panic rose in her chest and she kicked the water hard. She couldn’t calm down. Every kick of her legs only seem to drag her further under the water. She tried calling for help, but water filled her mouth and smothered her voice.

She didn’t hear the splash, only felt someone grabbing her and pulling her to the surface. She continued to struggle, but her rescuer was strong.

“You’re okay,” the voice of a young woman told her. “You’re okay.”

Ava finally snapped out of her panic. She was being pulled toward the ladder, held firmly above the water. Once she could finally grab the ladder to keep herself from drowning, she pulled away from her savior. Her heart sputtered in her chest when she realized it was the girl from the diving board.

“I’m…”

Ava wasn’t sure what she was trying to say. They stood so close to one another that she could see the freckles on the other girl’s face. I’m grateful? I’m Ava?

“I’m dead,” she thought and said at the same time, because she had to be.

The girl frowned.

“No, I… I pulled you out,” she replied with confusion.

“Yeah, no, obviously. I’m not dead, dead. I’m just… I’m Ava.”

Before the other girl could introduce herself, Mary arrived just in time to drag Ava out of the pool.

“I told you to stay in the shallow part. I warned you, didn’t I?”

Ava rolled her eyes and exited the pool. Mary threw her towel at her and Ava brushed the chlorine water out of her eyes.

“I was fine. I did it on purpose again.”

Then, she saw her rescuer was climbing after her, and giving her strange look, and Ava was quick to respond.

“I mean I didn’t do it on purpose to scare anyone. I had everything under control, totally.”

“That’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever said,” Mary replied, earning herself a glare.

A moment later, another woman joined them. She wasn’t wearing a swimsuit, but shorts and a tank top, her long brown hair held in a ponytail.

“Everything alright?” she asked.

“I’m sorry, Miss Masters,” Ava’s rescuer said. “I thought she was drowning, I…”

“You did good, don’t worry.”

“I’m sorry about that,” Mary intervened. “Ava doesn’t know when a joke has gone too far.”

“It’s fine. Better safe than sorry.”

“I just got tired all of a sudden is all,” Ava tried to defend herself against Mary’s glare without passing for a complete loser in front of the cute girl.

Is It Casual Now? - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! I'm back with a new multichapter story, this one is a Firefighter AU. Here is an extract and if you want to read the whole chapter the link will be at the end!

When Old Jho pushed the glass back in front of her, Sabine took a sip then said:

“I don’t think I’ve seen you here before.”

The blonde’s attention turned to her. She had cold, piercing green eyes, almost blue in the dim bar. Her lips were set in a neutral line, as if she didn’t quite care to engage Sabine in conversation. Sabine added:

“New recruit?”

The blonde shrugged.

“Not really. Reassigned.”

“Bad captain or need for a change of scenery?”

“Neither. Don’t get used to seeing me around here anyway. It’s only a matter of time before I get reassigned again.”

The blonde picked up her drink and finished it. Sabine watched her with a slight frown. She assumed the blonde was a temp, shifted from station to station to fill in whenever someone had to take a leave.

“Well, I hope you enjoy your time on this side of the city.”

She raised her glass as a welcoming gesture, then took another sip. The blonde motioned for Old Jho to give her another drink. While they waited, Sabine thought she’d introduced herself.

“I’m Sabine.”

“Shin,” the blonde replied curtly.

“Are you alone tonight? No welcome crew from the station trying to show you a good time?”

Shin shrugged.

“What’s the point? Like I said, I’ll be gone in a few weeks.”

“You never try to make friends with people in your station?”

Shin shook her head.

“How about people from other stations?” Sabine asked in a low voice.

Shin must have gotten her meaning, as her eyes roamed down Sabine’s face, to her plaid shirt and jeans. Sabine smirked. When Shin’s eyes returned to her, she was smirking too. Sabine liked where this was going.

Our Song - A RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here’s an extract from my new Ruby/Christina story, about Christina being the Queen of the Underworld and Ruby going to make a deal with her to get Leti’s soul back. If you’re interested the link to the full story is at the end!

The Underworld was forever silent. You got used to it rather quickly, mostly because you only visited it once you were dead, and nothing bothered you anymore then. All the souls transiting through the Underworld made as much noise as an ant. They floated through, from one part of the realm to another. They had no thoughts, no mouths or vocal cords, and therefore didn't speak. Hundreds of thousands of souls came and went all of the time, never making so much as a sound.

Christina had grown to appreciate the silence beyond anything else. Ruling over the Underworld was quiet, like ruling over Hell was violent. It was as all things were. Who was she to go against the rules? She spent most of her days reading, surveying her kingdom, with little to no sense of time. Time didn't exist for the dead, after all, they were already dead. And when the pull of boredom became too strong, Christina shut her book and took a walk around her kingdom. It was small and gray, but it was home, and wasn't that enough? A worse fate could have awaited her, she was certain of it.

Peace and quiet. Very suddenly disturbed, in Christina's opinion. It began with familiar growls coming from inside the castle. Christina was seated on a bench in the large garden reading when the sound pulled her out of her thoughts. She knew the sound quite well. It was the Shoggoth keeping watch at the entrance of the Underworld. How had it arrived at the castle, she wondered as she snapped her book close. It wasn't supposed to leave its post.

She made her way through the castle in search of the creature. It was not supposed to leave the edge of her realm. She couldn't even imagine the kind of damage one inside of her castle would cause.

She rounded the corner and found with great surprise the multi-eyed creature standing in her throne room. She arrived from behind the throne, but as she began walking down the steps to the creature, she found it wasn't alone. A woman was standing beside it. A real, human woman. She was wearing a red dress, and her hair had somewhat fallen out of place, as a few curls stuck to her neck. Her skin was dark, and a few beads of sweat were running down her temple. Christina knew the path down into the Underworld was hot, but she couldn't feel that heat. There was a guitar slung on the woman's back. When her eyes fell on Christina, her brows furrowed.

"Are you in charge here?" she asked with extreme annoyance.

Christina hadn't had to slip into the position of Queen in a long, long time. But it came to her naturally. The coldness, the detachment of it all. She sat in her throne, crossing her legs, and looked down at the woman.

"I am in charge, as you put it, yes. Who are you? How did you get past my guard dog?"

"He likes music, did you know that?"

Christina looked at the Shoggoth still standing by the woman's side. Its many eyes were transfixed on the woman's instrument. Christina waved her hand, and a whistle could be heard in the distance. The guard dog bounded down the staircase leading back out hurriedly and disappeared. She assumed it could dig its way home on its own.

"I have to command you bravery and ingenuity. No one alive has ever made it this far into my kingdom."

"You call this a kingdom? It's a piece of rock with a castle in the middle."

Christina pursed her lips. She didn't take too kindly to insults.

"Why are you here?"

"I'm here for my sister. She died yesterday."

"Time doesn't mean anything to me. She could have died a hundred years ago that it wouldn't change a thing. People die every day, it is how it is. Nothing I can do about it."

The woman crossed her arms. She seemed furious at Christina's detachment.

"But what if she wasn't supposed to die?"

Broken Circle - A RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here’s an extract from my new fanfiction, in which I tried to change the ending of the show by inserting Titus back into it. If you’re interested the link to the full story will be at the end!

Ruby had taken the habit of going to the basement whenever the door was open. It was only open whenever Christina was down there anyway. The house was too big, too silent sometimes. Ruby was used to small, cramp apartments where you had to climb over one another to get anywhere. The mansion had been nice at first, but after spending one too many mornings listening to nothing but eerie silence, she started seeking living things, simply for the comfort of knowing she wasn't alone. And there was only one living thing in this house.

Christina was hard at work when Ruby went to the basement that evening. The blonde was always busy, hunched over one table or another. She'd gotten used to seeing Ruby down there too, for she'd stopped asking her why she'd followed her there. She'd gotten so used to Ruby, in fact, that she'd stopped tensing up every time Ruby so much as touched a piece of paper on a nearby table. Ruby liked to snoop around and question her about what she was working on. If Christina ever suspected that Ruby was spying on her on Leti or Tic's behalf, she'd never made mention of it.

Ruby walked around the tables in the middle of the basement, looking at everything spread out there. Most of the words she didn't understand. Christina had begun instructing her in magic, but it was an arduous task. Finding free time for it was even harder, as Christina always seemed occupied.

Ruby passed quietly behind Christina, looking at what she was working on over her shoulder. Christina stopped sketching and froze as she felt Ruby close behind her. Only when Ruby stepped away did she straighten, flipped her long hair over her shoulder, then went back to work. Ruby continued her little tour of the table. She stopped when she found a file she hadn't seen yet. Usually, Christina didn't bother to organize her papers. Somehow she always found whatever she was looking for. Her organization system was pure, incomprehensible chaos, but it was a system still. But this file, she'd never seen before.

"What's that?"

She pulled it out from under a few pieces of paper and put it flat on the table, before opening and flipping through. In the file, Ruby found pictures and documents, most of which related to Lancaster and his police force. It seemed either Christina had been watching them, or someone had for her.

"Does it have anything to do with the thing you made me put in Lancaster's desk?" she asked, shivering as she remembered the barely alive – or not alive at all, she still wasn't sure – person in Lancaster's office.

"Not exactly. In part. Lancaster doesn't want to admit it but he's working for someone. I just can't seem to figure out who."

Ruby flipped through a few papers. Some pictures were downright terrifying. Dismembered bodies left abandoned by the side of the road or under a bridge. Ruby skipped through them as quickly as she could, until she finally shut the file and left it there, on the table, on top of the pile of papers.

"Let me guess? You have a plan to get rid of him."

Christina smirked. It was that confident smirk Ruby was mostly used to seeing on William, but the sight of it on Christina wasn't so displeasing.

"Lancaster? I already took care of him. Or should I say we, since you did part of the job."

Ruby at least felt a bit better now, knowing that hiding into that awful closet hadn't been for nothing.

"Good. That bastard had it coming."

Optical Illusion - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! I know I'm already posting a multichapter fic, but how about another one at the same time? This one is inspired by the show High Fidelity, in which Sabine and Shin are exes. It is 100% Wolfwren though, so don't worry ;) Here an extract and if you want to read the whole chapter the link will be at the end.

Ezra looks around the gallery. Yeah, it’s empty. Like I hadn’t notice. But it doesn’t matter if the place has white walls and all the light you would want, rich people have no interest in the art I’m selling. It’s too rebellious for them.

“Can I do anything to help?”

I sigh.

“You can sit by the door and pretend to be a security guard.”

“Awesome! I can do that.”

He’ll be on his phone as soon as he finishes his coffee. It means I’m free to start mulling over my exes again.

There are good ideas, and then there are bad ideas, and then there are terrible ideas. And then, there are ideas that suck so bad they might as well be black holes. Dating Leia was one of those ideas. Because we all knew, myself included, that she had this thing going on with Han, but they kept breaking up and getting back together, and I thought there wouldn’t be anything wrong if I inserted myself in the middle. I was wrong. Black hole idea.

Rey was too good for me, let’s face it. There’s a moment where, no matter how angry or bitter you are about your ex, you have to recognize the truth. I’m not delusional, just sour. Rey was too good for me. There, I admitted it. But Shin…

I can forget the others. Not forgive them, but forget them, sure. Or, at least I could when I was with Shin. We were together for three years, before she dumped me. A year later, and it still stings like a slap. She just up and left, threw three years of our life together down the drain because her father convinced her to. Her father convinced her to leave me and she did, and I didn’t even try to stop her. Rey may have been too good for me but I was too good for Shin. I realize that now. That’s why I’m planning my two hundredth painting on the theme of betrayal. Because I’m over it.

There Ain't a Drop of Bad Blood - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Day 3 of @wolfwrenweek I can't believe we're already halfway through! Today's story is based on an idea that I've been toying with for a while, Rebel Shin. I hope you'll enjoy it! Here is the beginning and the link for the rest of the story will be at the end!

The instant the windows shattered in front of her, Shin knew the operation was impossible to salvage. She blamed it all on Sabine Wren. In fact, Sabine had thrown the explosive which had caused the windows to blow. As Shin fell on her back, pain corkscrewing her stomach, her hatred toward the other Rebel only grew.

“Shin, come on. We don’t have time for a nap.”

Shin huffed and did her best to get up with the Mandalorian’s help. If she looked down, she could see a piece of glass buried in her stomach. She was fairly certain they didn’t belong there, though, as her head swam with warm anxiety, she wasn’t certain of anything anymore.

Blaster shots zipped past them. Sabine whirled around to fire back at the stormtroopers while she guided Shin to the trap through which they had infiltrated the warehouse. Shin expected one of the shots to hit her back and burn through her, but the pain never came. Either Sabine was doing a mighty good job keeping them at bay, or the stormtroopers were even worse than usual.

As they reached the trap door, Shin couldn’t find it in herself to bend and climb within. All she could do was let herself fall. Thankfully, the drop wasn’t too long. Unfortunately, it was concrete. She fell on her side. The air was knocked out of her. She coughed up as she struggled to get back up. She had to check that the glass was still in her stomach, because it felt like her belly was wide open.

Sabine climbed in after her and shut the trap after them. She shot at the seal, securing the trap so none of the stormtroopers could follow. Then, she jumped off the ladder to help Shin up on her feet again.

“Come on. We can’t linger here.”

How in the Force had their mission gone so poorly? Shin was supposed to retrieve supplies for the Hidden Path. It should have been an easy get-in and get-out situation. But then, the Rebellion had decided to help by sending one of their members to escort her. First off, how dare they think Shin needed an escort. She had accomplished many missions on her own. She didn’t need anyone. Second, of all the people they could have picked, they’d had to pick the most aggravating member they could find. The one person Shin wanted to avoid. Sabine Wren.

Sabine dragged her through the service tunnels. Shin could hear banging coming from behind them – or perhaps it was the pounding of her panicked heart in her ears. It didn’t matter that this exit was sealed. There were many others, and the stormtroopers were sure to catch up with them. Shin’s feet shuffled on the ground as she tried to keep up with the speed Sabine was setting for them both. The stabbing pain in her stomach was making her dizzy. If she stumbled and crashed head first and pushed the pieces of glass fully into her stomach, would the pain stop? Sabine didn’t allow her any chance to slip and fall, as she kept a firm grip on the sleeve of her shirt.

Fury to end All Furies - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Here is a new addition to the Ahsoka season 2 and Beyond series, about a mission gone wrong and featuring a special guest! Here is an extract and you can find the link to the first part of two at the end!

When darkness fell over the city, Shin left their hotel room and took a turn of the neighborhood. Sabine was on the rooftop of their hotel to watch the sky. The second moon was on the rise already. If their intel were correct, then the cargo would leave the city when the third moon rose. That mysterious cargo had been tracked by New Republic spies over multiple planets. It was changed location often. Hera suspected their owner was onto them and wouldn’t bring it home. She was done playing games. She wanted the cargo taken and its smugglers captured. If it contained weapons, just as she suspected, it might take them one step closer to dismantling another remnant of the Empire.

Shin kept her hood up as she slithered through the crowd. Workers enjoying a drink after a hard day in the mines. Regulars already half a drink away from sleep. Young people going to the neon bathed clubs. She walked past them like a ghost, gaze scanning for anything suspicious. So far, nothing. She walked toward the shipyard, where small shuttles were being refurbished for new service.

“No sign of trouble yet,” she said.

“Want to get a drink afterward?” Sabine suggested.

“Mission first.”

“Of course. We can celebrate after.”

Sabine’s voice was low. It sent shivers to the base of Shin’s spine, unravelling her focus.

“After,” Shin replied, like a promise.

She heard the faint sound of a grappling firing and knew Sabine had changed location, moving closer to the shipyard. The rest of the crowd was none the wiser. Ahead, someone inserted coins into a music box and drumbeats flooded the street. Shin walked past and down a set of stairs. The shipyard was in sight.

“I see something,” Sabine said.

Shin stopped around a dim corner, the streetlight above pale with age.

“Define something.”

“Movement.”

Shin pushed herself away from the wall and walked faster toward the shipyard. Music lingered behind her. Now that the workday was over, the path to the shipyard was empty.

“This isn’t good.”

Shin picked up speed.

“What are you seeing?”

“They’re moving the cargo already. Toward a small ship. I thought the third moon didn’t rise for another hour.”
