like sure, they’re a bit derivative of Tolkien and the first book reads like it was written by a 16 year old, but they also have some absolutely fantastic and unique concepts and scenes that have stuck with me to this day, despite me having read them when I was 14 (okay yeah I’m affected by nostalgia but who cares?!?!) Like hear me out: Angela and her grumpy talking cat??? The little girl who Eragon accidentally curses to feel the pain of others?? Nasuada in the trial of the knives?? Safira crashing through the giant stained glass window?? Murtagh’s lengthy redemption arc??? THE FACT THAT THE ORCS ARE A WELL-DEVELOPED SPECIES and Eragon allies with them eventually?? The Heart of Hearts?? That scene where Eragon forges his sword?? Eragon’s cousin becoming a war general?? The entirety of the dragonriders??? Have I mentioned Nasuada and Murtagh who are still some of my favorite characters from literature??? So. Fucking. Great. And Unique. The Inheritance Cycle doesn’t deserve the hate it gets and I will absolutely fight you over this.
Fenris: “I may not get the chance to say this again, meeting you was the most important thing that ever happened to me Hawke. Promise me you won’t die, I can’t bare the thought of living without you.” Hawke: “I didn’t quite catch that, could you speak up~?” Fenris: “Then let me make it clearer for you.” Me:

have y’all ever thought how fucking grand and iconic it would be , if guardian was actually gay ? like , the show itself , you know .
there are so many aspects to it that would be no joke groundbreaking . and i’m not even talking about a chinese show being gay . like , have you ever thought about how much weilan’s story defies homophobic stereotypes ?
for starters , guardian is a sci-fi show with two queer main characters , which - correct me if i’m wrong - has never happened anywhere before . it also has a plot that fully depends on the love story of said two characters , though at the same time that plot is not entirely just about the two characters being gay without any further explanation . it’s not stereotypical either . it’s an actually beautifully thought-out love story .
another thing that a lot of homophobes love to push is that gay people can’t be in love / one person can’t be in love with another person of their gender . and i mean , what defies that better than a story about a man being in love with another man for ten thousand years , waiting for him and being faithful to him that entire time , despite not being able to see him ?
guardian is not just a bl , it’s not just a show that has absolutely zero plot and whose only saving grace is the fact that it is gay ( not that there is anything wrong with that tbh jfksjfksjfksjs ) . but , it is really a full blown sci-fi show with lots of different amazing characters , each of whom has their own plot .
it also doesn’t fall under the usual shitty plotline of either of the guys being confused about their feelings ? shen wei definitely isn’t , but neither is yun lan . he is absolutely sure in his love for shen wei , and when a girl chases after him and tells him she loves him - he rejects her without a shadow of a doubt . no way in hell would he want any woman , or anyone else really , when he has shen .
and why does no one talk about guardian punching toxic masculinity in the face ? shen wei is a man devoted to the love of his life for ten thousand entire years . yun lan is a man fully devoted both to a man he loves and also his team , which he also loves and cares for deeply ( and he shows it too , in many ways ) . guo changcheng is a fragile gentle boy , who doesn’t end up ‘ winning ‘ by becoming hyperly-masculine, but instead by embracing himself . and there is many more examples .
i can go on and on about this . guardian could do shit™️ if it was allowed to be what it was supposed to be from the very beginning . and i’m just so sad that it wasn’t .
if you ever order multiple installments of a series (doesn’t have to be books but I feel like it’s especially true for books) and they don’t all ship together in the same package, it’s an unwritten rule of the universe that book #1 will arrive last
This is totally random, but I know exactly what Law and Luffy's kid's story would be like. Her name would be Cora, (after Corazon of course), and she would have Law's black hair and golden/green eyes and dark skin, but she would have Luffy's smile and casual disregard for the laws of reality. She would be best friend's with Ace and Marco's kid, and she would be the co-captain of the Dragon Pirates. She would have no fear of injury or death, but would dissolve into a panicked wreck anytime her makama gets so much as a paper cut. Law would try to teach her how to be a doctor, but she'd go green at the sight of organs and he would instead teach her swordplay and anatomy, because she's fascinated with bones. If he had been there, Luffy would have taught her how to play, and how to be selfish and kind at the same time, and Law would show her how not to drown in your own darkness. She would set out at 17, and fight her adopted brother, for the title of Pirate King. In the end, she's either the Pirate King, and he's the Pirate Queen, or they do a timeshare, or she beats him up until he agrees to let her have it. She has a long complicated relationship with Robin's daughter, before she finally marries her in front of the World Government. They're outraged of course, except for Sengoku, who blinks back tears as he thinks of how happy Rocinante would have been. She would have grown up on stories about her extended, not quite related family, and learned how to love with all that she is, but only those she deems worthy. Don't use this without permission.

Have you hugged your firebender yet today?
In the series Fablehaven, there is not one scene where the limberjack, Mendigo, is given a hug.
One like = one hug for Mendigo
One reblog = more likes = more hugs for Mendigo.
Please, Mendigo deserves the hugs. He is a good boy.
