Seeing readings on social media that Jackie was depressed and it's like, FINALLY, people are realising that. She was fighting for a reason to live before they crashed, she was clinging to a reason (her best friend) and her going outside and dying wasn't because she was too stupid to light a fire. It was a successful suicide attempt after her best friend essentially cut her off with seemingly no recourse - was she being dramatic about it? Sure, teens have fights like that all the time! But depressed people don't tend to really think rationally about situations like that.

It's a very real way to write a depressed person in mid 90s America!

synopsis: 2 friends have trouble redefining the relationship

yandere shauna chaining natalie to a motel radiator

"Dinner's ready, if you want it." shauna announces in that flat tone, natalie was on the couch, smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer while barely absorbing the tacky show playing on the television. natalie doesn't even glance at her, and she lets out an exasperated sigh, gesturing to the plate before setting it next to her. shauna tries to leave, but a drunk, pissed off natalie is surprisingly quicker. "I guess you're not going to let me go any time soon." She giggles before taking another drag, and the sound provokes shauna as much as the question does.

"No, you're not leaving me. And God, can you stop smoking all day? It's starting to smell in here."

natalie can't help but find it amusing that shauna of all people is worried about cigarette smoke when she quite literally had her chained to a radiator at the jollyhitcher, she just snubbed her lit cigarette in shauna's well-meaning dinner, giving her a pointed look. shauna just hums in this demeaning trill, taking the plate away. "I guess you're not hungry, nat." It's meant to hurt her, but natalie doesn't care. she just matches her tone before taking a swig of her beer. "I guess not."
