The Megop plushies are technically there to symbolize them being like "puppets" or "voodoo dolls" to the corruption of their society in a way.

They do have a story though, they were made when Megs and Optimus were still Orion Pax and Megatronus (d-16). It was to say "You'll always have me with you wherever you go" or something like that. Of course, they never expected to be pulled apart, especially cause of a war, lol.

And I think they're just nice to have ;)

I think people are forgetting how strong D-16 was even before his ascension in being Megatron. And yeah, hold on—hold on, I know some people are going to mention other characters but I want to once again look on D-16.

He is so strong, from straight up lifting a large boulder (?) to help out Jazz (with the assistance of a jetpack of course but STILL) during the Energon mine closing up, to punching rocks to make way for Orion Pax and Jazz during their escape out, to that one concept scene I remember where Orion Pax was helping D-16 train with a steel punching bag that had dents—IT HAD DENTS. A STEEL PUNCHING BAG.
