Stranger Things stans went on a mission to make everyone hate Grace Van Dien and instead earned themselves the title of most toxic and annoying fanbase on any social media platform and helped Grace earn even more defenders while everyone (even people outside the fandom) started to call them out on their shit, as they should.
Your shit backfired.
Or maybe it’s because he represents a certain portion of abuse survivors that don’t become meek and docile but instead angry and aggressive due to not having an active support system to help unlearn unhealthy coping mechanisms like the other characters you mentioned, ever thought of that?
You guys have characters such as Eleven, Max, Will, Jonathan as representation for abuse but you guys pick the racist abuser who likes to attack and threaten children. If he wasn’t an attractive white man y’all would not be on his side.

sorry followers :(
no but I think that if Billy Hargrove ever got the chance to meet Wayne Munson he’d short circuit? like, here is a man that, for all intents and purposes, comes from his walk of life, who is a little bit gruff and sort of rough around the edges, who is raising a boy not too unlike Billy and who shows that boy genuine love and affection the likes of which Billy has never truly known. Wayne would never think of raising his voice to Eddie, let alone his fist. not just that, but he actively defends his nephew against a town that has written him off as a freak. Billy has never had an adult come to bat for him the way that Wayne does for Eddie and I truly don’t think that Billy would know how to wrap his head around that.
and and and if he ever hung around Wayne??? picture it: Billy going to Eddie’s for the first time, maybe for some stupid school project they got paired up for, maybe just to listen to some music, and Wayne comes home from work. Billy’s instincts kick in, because father figures coming home sets off alarm bells, but Wayne is nothing like Neil. he comes in happy to see Eddie, asks about Eddie’s day, cracks jokes with him. and when Wayne sees Billy side-eyeing him, looking confused, he puts a hand on Billy’s shoulder and he asks, “You okay, son?” and there’s no sarcasm in it, no animosity, it’s a genuine question and Billy doesn’t know what to do so he makes up some excuse to leave.
of course, I love to think of all this ending with Wayne becoming the father that Billy deserved but never got to have, a man who can be a role model to him, that can smooth out his edges and teach him to quell his anger. that Billy and Eddie get close, that Billy hangs around the Munsons, is wrapped up in this warm little family. that sometimes Billy gets to Eddie’s place a little early, when he knows that Eddie isn’t home, just to talk to Wayne, to get the fatherly advice that Neil would never give. that one day, when Wayne is out drinking, Neil Hargrove stumbles into the bar and Wayne notices the bruised knuckles, thinks back on the black eye Billy had tried to hide from him and puts two and two together. that when Wayne comes home a little worse for wear and finds the boys watching MTV on the couch, when they ask him what happened, he looks Billy dead in the eye and says, “Let’s just say you’re not fighting your battles alone anymore.”
Please ignore the shitty quality I don’t know why my phone does this 😂
no cause considering that billy didn’t knew shit, the situation at the byers house is really weird. like, a legal adult lying about his underage (basically a kid, not a teen yet) sister not being here, when she’s in fact here with him and three boys is very sketchy. and steve doesn’t have a great reputation with girls, he’s a known womanizer. and it’s the 80’s. and karen probably not the first adult that was interested in billy, he knows how a person older than you can be. he can think only abt one thing and i don’t want to say it so. kinda understand him on this one. also if i’ll see my lil brother in a situation like that i’ll be pulling out a knife not a fist 🏃🏽♀️
With all the revived hype surrounding Billy from the latest S4 trailer, I’m reminded why I will forever be grateful that the role was given to someone like Dacre Montgomery. With all the speculation of Billy not only returning, but possibly returning as ANOTHER corrupted version of himself, Dacre is the only reason why I still have hope for Billy’s arc.
He is the reason why Billy is as complex and nuanced as he is in canon. Judging from past interviews, it seems like the Duffers were content to just let Billy be this two dimensional bully who’s an irredeemable maniac (and possibly still believe he is to some extent). But it was Dacre who humanized him. He understood that no one is simply born evil, that people like Billy have deeper issues going on in their lives. He suggested to add the scene with his dad abusing him and to give him a backstory of how he was abandoned by the only person who loved him. He demonstrated how all that shit twisted a sweet little boy into an angry, aggressive teenager. It would be enough to turn anybody into a Billy Hargrove.
Dacre gave the audience a reason to sympathize with Billy and demonstrated how he still has the potential to become a better person and overcome his toxic ways.
So, no matter what role Billy plays this season (whether it be alive, in flashbacks, or in some monster form), I trust that Dacre will put all his effort to maintain and continue Billy’s character development.
The Shadow fangirlies have BEEN served and will CONTINUE to be served GOOD food in this holy year of 2024
Nothing makes me cackle more than Dacre Montgomery posting bts pics, not of ST, but the Elvis movie on the premiere of Vol 2 🤣
He really said 🖕once he saw the mistreatment of Billy’s character by the duffle bags.
