Every time I see another ibuprofen post on this site I'm like STOP

STOP

Stop.

Take that after a meal. Take it with a big glass of water. Don't take it on an empty stomach EVER. Don't take it with alcohol. You will destroy your stomach. You will end up with an ulcer. You will vomit blood. I'm not exaggerating.

Yes, you. Yes, it will happen to cute little you. With your cute little bottle of miracles. Ibuprofen really does that to your body.

Love, an adult person over 35 who can't take NSAIDs anymore

Heads up: If you consistently CANNOT do tasks unless they are at the “Must Happen Right Now” stage, then you have a disability.

Most people CHOOSE to put stuff off sometimes, but abled people do not consistently feel UNABLE to complete tasks without threat of consequence.

Maybe it’s an executive dysfunction issue, maybe it’s fatigue, maybe it’s chronic pain– doesn’t matter why, what matters is acknowledging it so that you can move forward. Reach out to resources that are there to help disabled people! Ask for accommodations! They’re there FOR YOU, BECAUSE YOU NEED THEM! Understanding and accepting that you have the limitations you have, and learning what can be done about them, will lead to a much more fulfilling life which you absolutely deserve.

Pro tip for my disabled and chronically ill friends in college: if you have to put a work order in and it is related any bit at all to your disability, write, very clearly in the "describe what needs to get done" section, "This issue is a health hazard," followed by a description of how the issue relates to your disability/chronic illness.

They are required to put it as a high-priority issue and fix it ASAP. Required BY LAW. Yes, I said it. They are legally required to fix these things, both under OSHA regulations and the ADA.

Play the disability card. I'm begging you. DISABLED IS NOT A BAD WORD. But don't abuse it. This is a fine line here.

Example: I'm heat and noise sensitive. My HVAC unit started breaking down and rattling loudly. That would be an example of a health hazard. A broken light could be a health hazard to someone with vision issues. I can only speak for myself here. But y'all have the right to speak up and advocate to yourself.

Neurodivergent people, this applies to you too. You're one of us (one of us! one of us! one of us!). Don't let the exclusionists gatekeep this information from you.

Not a day passes by without me being mad as shit that ableism against demonized mental illnesses is normalised.

We are not criminals. We are not dangerous. We do not owe neurotypicals a complete explanation on why we developed our disorders and why we aren't serial killers that kidnap people.

Fuck hollywood, fuck ableist criminology and fuck saneism.

I love people with npd so much. I’m sorry that world is so ableist. I’m sorry that you can’t be anywhere without hearing the word ‘narcissism’ or ‘npd’ used in a negative light. I’m sorry that there isn’t anywhere near enough support.

I’m so sorry that you can’t win. It must be so suffocating and aggravating, living in a world where it feels like everybody hates you. You deserve better.

Do not support the "NEXT for Autism" fundraiser on April 30th

NEXT for Autism is endorsed by Autism Speaks, and like Autism Speaks, promotes Applied Behavior Analysis, which forces autistics to hide their behaviors and mask, which is very damaging. NEXT for Autism wants a cure for autism instead of working to create an environment and society where autistics can coexist and thrive alongside everyone else. Focusing on teaching autistics how to hide their more "annoying" behaviors and/or curing them shows that their interest is really in making life easier for caretakers of autistics and for other neurotypicals who might be inconvenienced having to deal with an autistic person out in the wild. Makes sense why they would be linked with Autism Speaks.

There is a change .org petition asking for the fundraiser be cancelled. Sign it here: Petition · Autistic People Have the Right to Exist. Stop the Eugenics Fundraiser. · Change.org

Some of the celebrities involved:

Jimmy Kimmel, Mark Rober, Jon Stewart, Conan O’Brien, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Jack Black, Andy Samberg, Paul Rudd, Maya Rudolph, MrBeast, Zach Galifianakis, Mark Hamill, Sarah Silverman, Terry Crews, Marques Brownlee...

Good news! After planned participants Rhett & Link found out about NEXT's connection to Autism Speaks, they have withdrawn from the event.

Please contact the other above celebrities requesting they also withdraw their support. (and thank Rhett & Link for doing the right thing!)

a way you can help some i/dd and cognitively disabled people is by clarifying what kind of response you want if you're not open to any kind of response

like, specifying that you want comfort or advice or solidarity or some other kind of acknowledgement, or if you want just an emoji or to change the subject, or if you want to close the conversation, like

just fucking communicate. give us feedback. tell us what you want

if you need clarification ask for it. if you need us to rephrase ask for it

we're communicating or verbalizing the only way we know how. and if you're not like this you can't even begin to scrape the fucking surface of understanding how hard it is

Two new LEGO friends characters, Petch and Ida, are disabled. Petch has a prosthetic leg (purple and it's an above-knee prosthetic) and Ida is, based on appearance, a, person with albinism. I am so excited to see more of these two in the future!

Picture of the LEGO friends minidoll Petch, a tanned teenaged boy with brown eyes and shaggy brown hair. His right leg is a purple prosthetic that goes above the knee. He wears a tan shirt, a belt, brown shoes, yellow shorts, and has a purple fanny pack slung across his torso. End ID
Image of LEGO Friends minidoll Ida, a young woman with pale skin, light blue eyes, and long, white hair, who appears to have albinism. She wears an orange shirt with three-quarter sleeves, white tights, black boots with silver laces, and a yellow skirt held up by white suspenders. There is a gold pendant on her left suspender. End ID

Good morning to people who grew up and became pathological liars and now are attempting to stop Doing The Thing, you’re doing great
