The door creaked open with a familiar hum of magic. Heavy boots stepped in first, trailing the shadow of a long, dark cloak.

Tom Riddle swept into the quiet sitting room, still clad in his Death Eater robes, fresh from a meeting his mask gone, but the tension lingering in his shoulders.

He barely had time to speak before Y/N looked up from the sofa and sighed loudly.

“Oh, for Merlin’s sake,” she muttered, standing and walking over.

Tom blinked, caught off-guard. “What?”

“You grew again.”

He froze. “Pardon?”

“You grew, Tom,” she grumbled, already crouching at his feet, tugging at the hem of his dark robes with practiced fingers. “This looked fine last month. Now it’s hovering like you're trying to start a fashion trend. Floaty ankles of doom.”

“I—what are you doing?”

“Trying to save your dignity,” she murmured, distracted. “Honestly, you’re terrifying and dramatic and all that, but no one’s going to take you seriously if they can see your socks.”

Tom looked down at her, crouched at the base of his robes, wand in hand as she muttered a minor lengthening charm under her breath.

A grin tugged at the corners of his mouth.

“You know,” he drawled, voice thick with amusement, “you’re on your knees for me right now.”

She paused mid-spell and gave him a deadpan stare. “You’re lucky I’m not hexing your kneecaps.”

He chuckled actually chuckled and leaned lazily against the doorway. “You complain, but you love me.”

“I tolerate you,” she shot back, tapping her wand to the hem again. “Which is honestly more impressive.”

“I just got back from a Death Eater meeting, and you’re fixing my robe hem like I’m off to a school recital.”

“Because your robe hem is embarrassing,” she said, standing and brushing off her knees. “Eighteen and still growing. You’re going to be seven feet tall by the time you're done, and then where will we be?”

Tom’s lips curved in a faint, dark smile. “Standing above them all, as I’m meant to.”

She rolled her eyes, but her lips curled into a smile anyway. “Try again without sounding like you're about to monologue.”

Tom stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her waist, his voice softer now. “You fuss over my robes like you’re not dating the most feared Slytherin of the age.”

“Because the most feared Slytherin of the age looked like a damn scarecrow,” she teased, reaching up to adjust the clasp at his collar. “There. Still terrifying. Just... less drafty.”

He rested his forehead against hers for a beat, smile lingering. “I’ll take that.”

"You’re welcome, Lord Longlegs."

He laughed again, full and quiet, and for a moment the world outside the door wars and legacies and masks melted away, leaving just him, her, and the hem of a robe finally done right.

I remembered when I first watched Kingdom of Heaven and Balian was walking through the gates of Jerusalem. I had a feeling I was there before like it was like a Deja Vu or a distant memory of another life but it felt familiar almost like home

roman needs a fucking cigarette. finally out of the god awful office, opening the glove compartment of his car to pull out the spare pack of cigarettes he keeps in there. reaching around as he drives to grab the pack and— what the fuck is that?

he grabs the small figurine from the compartment, bringing it up to his eyes. he feels like a fucking weirdo holding the thing. a roll of his eyes as he throws the figure onto the floor of the passenger seat and reaches back to grab the cigarettes.

the smoke fills the car, only rolling down the window to let it escape as he pulls up outside of your house. a bright smile on your face as he arrives, already sat on the porch waiting for him. almost skipping over to the car, opening up the passenger door.

"roman!" you gasp, seeing your poor little sonny angel face down on the floor. face contorting as you gently reach down to pick it up before climbing into the car. a scowl on your face that roman is trying desperately not to tease you for. "how could you do that do our child?"

"fuck me." he mutters under his breath, letting his head fall back against the headrest. his eyes fluttering shut, knowing he's about to get a mouthful.

he reluctantly opens his eyes and turns to face you, taking one last puff of his cigarette before throwing it out of the window. "he's just a baby," you start, pouting as you wipe any dirt off the figure, not that there was any. roman gets his car cleaned near enough every day.

"he is a weird naked figure that you left in my car." roman mutters, as he begins to drive the car away from your house. "put your seatbelt on." he mumbles, eyes darting over to you.

huffing and puffing as you do, still holding the small figure in your hands. "i left him by accident," you mumble, placing a gentle kiss to the top of it's head. "didn't mean to."

roman couldn't understand you sometimes. it's a piece of plastic and you're kissing it, and people thought he was the weird one.

"don't want your shit in my car, 'kay?" he mutters. "the sticker was bad enough."

you smile at the reminder, momentarily distracted as you pull down the sun visor above your seat. looking to the hello kitty sticker in the corner of the mirror.

"fine," you mumble, pushing up the visor again. "just don't throw him on the floor again if i accidentally leave him here."

"hm, yeah, whatever," he rolls his eyes, watching you gently place the sonny angel in your purse. "he's not our child though." roman mutters, realising he's just referred to the stupid plastic as a him. fuck sake, you're rubbing off on him.

"bunny's our child." he mumbles, almost under his breath, referencing your childhood teddy. he knows he's two seconds away from his face being covered in kisses and oh— yeah, there they come. "stop it, i'm driving." he can't help but chuckle, pushing you gently back down to the passenger seat.

"you admitted it!" you giggle, looking over to roman.

"yeah, yeah, shut up."
