You Don’t Have To Be Happy All The Time To Be A Hero. You Don’t Always Have To Be Kind And Forgiving,

you don’t have to be happy all the time to be a hero. you don’t always have to be kind and forgiving, you don’t have to push yourself to be positive. allow yourself to feel and deal with emotions even if they’re “bad”. allow yourself to learn and grow from how you feel.

I’m just going to declare that the month of May will be a great month and that great things will happen this month.

it feels so good to be kind. it’s the warm feeling you get when you tell someone that they look nice today, or that they did a good job, or that their voice sounds lovely, or that the cookies they baked were delicious, or how you always laugh at their jokes. it’s the warm feeling you get when they respond bashfully, or surprised, with that small smile and a thankfulness that shines in their eyes. it feels so good when someone is kind to you. when it feels like the effort you put into yourself is seen and acknowledged and appreciated. it feels so good when you’re able to make someone feel that wonderful. we should always try and encourage each other.

i have never felt as mature as when i finally understood (through therapy) and internalized (through emotional work) that you cannot connect and communicate with some people no matter how kind, compassionate, understanding, articulate, eloquent, or smart you are, and that sometimes a person not listening to you does not reflect on your communication skills or ability to connect or straight up intelligence. in a way, it’s letting go of the belief that you have the power to make people understand you. communication is a two-way street, and needs two willing participants. some people are just walls, and it has been unbelievably helpful for my mental and emotional health to let it slide and know that it does not affect me or my self worth.

Eight: Call me old-fashion, but marriage should be about a person aligning forces with a trusted ally to consolidate power and destroy common enemies.

Pregnancy Resources for women in Georgia and Alabama:

Embrace Grace is a church-based organization that allows single mothers to prepare for new lives with their babies and seek support among fellow women. There are several participating churches with this program in both GA and AL. https://embracegrace.com/find-a-group/find-a-group/

Birthright International is a secular branch of pregnancy resource centers who offer consultation services, referrals for aid and other forms of help for free, and I found several in GA and AL. They have a 24/7 crisis hotline and search function for finding centers in your area on their front page. https://birthright.org/

Sista Midwife is a black birth advocacy group that catalogues practicing midwives, doulas, and wellness practitioners of color around the US. There were PAGES of results for GA and AL. Because medical treatment of black mothers is poor especially in the south, any of these ladies can help you get the care you need and also help you find needed resources. https://www.sistamidwife.com/

Birth Without Fear is a fantastic all around birth community, made up of women from all backgrounds and challenges. They provide positive birth stories, share support and advice, and there are several support groups in Facebook as well. They have a website (birthwithoutfearblog.com) and also have an active public page on Facebook.

Get Your Care has a fantastic US map of where to find federally qualified health clinics and other places for women in crisis pregnancies. You can check them out here: getyourcare.org

And feel free to search this blog as well, with all kinds of informational and resource-based posts for people wanting to know their options and rights as parents.

Some of these resources are pro-life, others are not. But all of them have a passion for helping women and their children find the care and support that they need. If this makes you angry, feel free to scroll on and make your own post about it. 👍🏼
