The Cullen’s probably forgot about Bella’s human needs once in a while (heck even in BD Edward states “I’m not feeding you enough”). Could we pretty please have some HC’s where the Cullen’s realize Bella might be in blankets cause it’s winter and there’s no heating in their home, or that they forgot to feed her until her stomach growls loudly, or that Bella falls asleep too late so she sleeps in too late too. Just human stuff the Cullen’s would forget now and then.

esme teaching herself to knit so that she can make bella hats and scarves to keep her extra warm her first winter in forks

emmett just constantly handing her snacks, like a cat bringing its owner things it has found

rosalie silently giving bella a bottle of water she’s bought her from the vending machine

when bella looks confused, rosalie just shrugs, “edward said you need to stay hydrated.”

when they’re out at a party, alice announces “bella, will you come to the bathroom with me?”

when they get there bella looks really confused and alice just says, “well people always say that girls go to the bathroom in pairs and i never knew why. um… do you need to use the bathroom?”

jasper keeping tabs on her emotions to see when she starts to get tired and reminding edward that she needs to get some rest

carlisle herding bella directly into the kitchen whenever she comes over so that she can try his newest dish that he’s learnt to cook from the cooking channel

she always leaves the house with armfuls of tupperware containers of exquisite food to take home to charlie

edward turning the heating up way too high in the car so that she starts to sweat even in the dead of winter

he also wraps her up like a burrito when she sleeps so that his body temperature doesn’t make her cold

the lea michele situation is actually a prime example of why we should be wary of performative activism right now. if you are supporting the cause by protesting, donating, posting your support, etc. that’s great! but this problem goes so much deeper than just police brutality.

every single non-black person who has posted #blacklivesmatter this week needs to take a step back and analyze whether or not their actions (not just their words) have shown that they truly believe that statement. it’s a clear and obvious choice to speak out against the brutal murder of an innocent man. however, if you are not making the obvious choice every day to speak up for us when your friends/relatives make racist jokes, if you are not listening to and respecting the black people you know in real life, if you have not sat down to analyze the ways you actively benefit from this system, if you have not worked to start unlearning the biases you were raised with, or if you thought “black lives matter” was a controversial statement until this week, do not pretend to care just because everyone is talking about it right now.

when these protests are over, there will still be many battles to fight. this is not a game, and this is not something you post about just for likes and clicks. if you are resting easy right now thinking that you’re “one of the good ones” for showing public outrage over a situation that should anger any reasonable person, you need to do more. racism is not something you can pick and choose when to be against. we don’t get to pick and choose when we experience racism. so if you’re going to get involved with this situation right here, right now, then you need to be ready to hold yourself and others accountable for anti-blackness in all other areas of your life.

Zuko, Candid Cam

I’ve been really happy that AtLA has finally dropped on Netflix USA - I know a lot of people haven’t seen it before, and I’ve been watching it virtually with some friends who haven’t either. I hope yall can enjoy it! Please see if you haven’t already!

Apart from some episodes from season 1, I’ve only seen it once while it was airing on tv the first time all those years ago, but it had such an impact on my life! And on our culture and western animation especially. I’m pursuing animation now, actually :D For this one I really wanted to practice with acting and facial expressions, and I feel like I’ve learned a lot. I hope you like it ;u;

I feel like I only ever draw fan art of Zuko lol…

”You can just call me Jake,” their teacher said the first time they met. “The title’s ridiculous and we all know it.“ ”Yes, sir,” Berenson’s new students chorused obediently (Yes, Prince Jake.) (Ax called him prince from the very beginning - it was respect, it was allegiance, but do you think maybe it was also something else? A reminder, that they follow him, he holds their lives in his choices, and he is not - can never be - one of them. He knows this by the end; Ax knows it in the beginning.)

Jake would have been very unremarkable, if he hadn’t walked through that construction site, if the Yeerk expansion had not come to Earth in his lifetime.  His family is well off and he’s not much of a follower (good leaders make poor lackeys, there’s a reason that there’s an officer track), so he wouldn’t have been likely to go into the military, and he wouldn’t have thought much about public service, I think–he’s not the type to want to play detective.  He might have volunteered as a firefighter, a way for him to turn his big frame and athletic experience into a real world task, but he wouldn’t have worked as one full-time.

He would have gone to college and gotten a degree, maybe in history (if he ever even realized that he loved history, without a war to prepare for), maybe in whatever seemed reasonable.  Business, perhaps.  He would have tried out for a few basketball teams, but probably never would have done particularly well on them.  He would have graduated middle-of-the-road, not terrible, but not great, and gotten a job, and married, and maybe had children.  He would have been a great father, but nothing special in the rest of his life, except.

Except.

The handful of times when something went wrong–then people would wonder how he learned his steadiness, where he got his level head, whether he had always been so confident in command.

Then the crisis would pass, and Jake Berenson would go back to his comfortable, quiet life.

He would have lived an unremarkable life, but he might have been happy.

Instead, when he tells people to call him Jake, they agree and nod and call him sir, sir, sir.
