Freddie talks about Brianās big cock :)
Subtle. (x)
when Iām sad. I just look at pictures of john deacon. he makes me smile.
thanks deaky š
Freddie: [is sad]
John [begins disco dancing gently]: Whatās wrong, mate?
more handy Queen anecdotes if you ever think theyāre a serious band in any way:
1) roger locking himself in a cupboard to get his song as the b-side of bohemian rhapsodyĀ
2) freddie throwing a brick through their managers window because he walked off and left him at a restaurant alone #not glamĀ
3) them all getting stuck in a lift because they started jumping up and down having just heard they got their first number 1 singleĀ
4) freddie calling his manager to get him out of michael jacksonās house immediately because michael kept bringing his llama into the recording stupid and it freaked him the fuck out and this is genuinely why freddie wasnāt on thriller
5) john coming up with the under pressure bassline then going out for pizza and forgetting itĀ
6) freddie calling sid vicious simon ferociousĀ
7) the new orleans jazz party which no one can actually remember Ā
My heart
āJohn was an enigma though. When Brian wrote we knew because he went from a side to another with a notebook and singing us the choruses or telling us his ideas. When John Deacon wrote, we could tell because he hardly talked. He just stayed quiet for a long time, sitting in a chair and drinking tea and soda. I remember once Roger arrived joking around to a living room we had in the studio. There was an absolute silent until Roger came in yelling ābut what? whoseās the funeral?ā, and Freddie whispered to him āshhhhh, John is creatingā. I think it was Fred who came up with the nickname of ostrich. Because John was like a bird, who stays quiet until it finally puts a perfect egg. John was that way, he handled the sheets to the others fully finished, although in the end everybody added something to improve the song.ā

When showing the Live Aid backstage in the first sequence of the movie, the Red Special is introduced with a panning shot that has such reverence you donāt even need Brianās name as one of the producers because that alone is a testament of his involvement.
When performing with the band for the first time, Freddie wears the same black and yellow/gold shirt his Mum wears in the first scene when Freddie goes out to see Smile. I loved that
Brian being a little shit pestering John when he is fixing the vanās tire and Johnās annoyed response. āOh IS IT???ā. You can tell he began writing Back Chat in that very same moment.
Roger. dumbass. Taylor. Has the nerve to get up, walk over Freddieās sister and flirt with her when he already brought a date to dinner. I got the thot energy when I saw the movie for the first time and the rascal had the nerve to go all āwhat are you doing after this?ā in front of her family but somehow I didnāt notice he is basically there with another girl. I tell you,Ā Ā t h o tĀ dumbass
Marlene Dietrich photo: We know Freddie loved her and took inspiration from a photo of hers on the set of Shangai Express for the pose for the Queen II album cover and Bohemian Rhapsody video. We see the photo when the movie first starts, at Garden lodge. We see it again when Freddie shows the house to Roger for the first time. But a smaller one is also seen in his apartment when he comes out to Mary
In one of Queenās first big performances we see the empty stage and the lights match the color scheme for the movie - black, purple and yellow
When pitching A Night at the Opera to Ray Foster, Freddie shares the most knowing looks with John, a really nice non-verbal touch that speaks plenty about their relationship. They are both holding back laughter when Freddie plays the opera record in a way that feels so close and personal. Kudos to Rami and Joe for taking something thatās supposed to be comedic relief and turning it into a nice reference to Freddieās and Johnās camaraderie. I also love that John is the one to say āno one knows what Queen is because it doesnāt mean one thingā.
Does Roger know how to button his shirt??? This is a business meeting, for crying out loud. Bless him for that. Please never learn what buttons are.
Also the Mum Energy⢠of Brian standing there with his arms crossed is so strong a woman from Belgium complained.
At the sound of the last gong, Brian pats Roger proudly on the back when they are listening to Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time. Cuteness overload. (I will also refuse to discuss the amount of times Brian and Roger engage in unnecessary touching throughout the whole movie. Brian, you have to separate Roger and Freddie from fighting in the studio, no need to leave your hand on Rogās chest for that long, pal)
We donāt talk enough about Lucy Boynton performance. She is so expressive, so restrained yet commands a scene with such ferocity, has the ability to break my heart with her monologue about being told āI love you, butā¦.ā And saying āYou are loved. By me, Brian, Roger, Deaky. Thatās enoughā. Thanks, I love sobbing in a movie theatre four weekends in a row. 50/10 give her the praise she deserves. Also she is so beautiful I had to take a deep breath when she walked in.
When Reid and Prenter are talking scheming backstage at Madison Square Garden, you can see Roger chatting with two girls and Deaky comes by with an 8 ball or something like that looking pissed, and they begging arguing, the girls completely forgotten by now. You gotta love that dumb energy that felt very true. Also first of many John Looks So Hot underrated outfits in the whole movie. YEs Ā to the leather jacket, you funky disco man
Freddie calls Good Old Miami when he is double crossed by Prenter the snakeā¦. He just calls him and Miami knows itās him ???? And he says āFreddie?ā So soft and paternal. That whole scene?????? AND THEN FREDDIE SAYS āThank Youā¦.JIMā and let me tell you, I didnāt think by the third viewing I would be crying over a scene of Freddie and their manager but there I was, wanting to give each of them a 45 minute hug. Protect Miami at all costs please. (also we wonāt talk about Freddie saying āwe are a family and families fightā because Iām gonna cry right here again)
The contrast of Roger telling Freddie āyou need usā when he says he signed a contract and Freddie saying āI donāt need anyoneā and then him saying āI NEED YOUā and pointing out what he lacked by not having the band by his side IS POETIC CINEMA. I donāt make the rules, sorry
I know Iām messing up the chronological order, but the Another One Bites the Dust scene would grant itās own essay. Roger and Brian being little shits to poor Disco Deaky? Checked. Band tension with Freddie? Checked. Roger consumed by hubris thinking his noodle arms can measure up against former boxer Freddie? Checked. John shutting up everyone by playing one of the coolest riffs in the history of music? Checked. The four of them looking the hottest theyāve looked (donāt get me started on Roger drumming with a cigarette in his mouth and Freddie wearing leather)? Checked. The editing of the bar scenes and the rehearsal with that soft red light? Checked and archived as A R T.
This was pointed out by my mum, and I think I saw someone else also saying it online, but I donāt care if in reality Freddie learnt about his diagnostic much later than Live Aid, and subsequently told the band after 1985, we all cried with that beautiful scene (for me, one of the best ones in acting and composition - it stars with that beautiful pipe organ and you get a churchy, revered vibe instantly. Also the looks between Freddie and Miami before he tells the band. And Deakyās tears when he laughs and says āActually Wembley doesnāt have a roofā. Ugh, I canāt shut up about this scene).
What my mum pointed out was the Impact that scene had in the sense that all three of them just went up there and hugged Freddie without a second thought. In a time when people knew very little about AIDS and how it was transmitted, when there was a lot of prejudice and misinformation being passed around, the meaning of four friends, four brothers embracing is enough to turn anyone into a puddle of tears.
On a lighter note, Brian rehearsing in white shorts and socks is peak āis this Gwilym Lee or Brian May documental footage??ā. Yet another John Looks So Hot underrated outfit, the tank top with the sleeves cut out so deep you can actually see his ribcage???? The shorts???? This is an emotional scene, I shouldnāt be lusting over Joe Mazzello yet here I am
With all this talk about Solo Harry, I decided to explore my personal favorite topic: ACTOR Harry. Ā Iāve been threatening to make this post for a while and now iām finally bored enough to do it. Ā Buckle up, kids. Ā Iām pretty (read: VERY) long winded. I have a lot of thoughts. Quick background info on me and why this topic interests me- I am an actor/producer living and working in a major US market- originally trained in musical theatre, still dabble occasionally in that, but mostly work in straight theatre and indie film. Ā Ā
Listen, i know what youāre thinking, but hear me out. Ā He really would be great! There are just three caveats:
1) Heād have to actually WANT to do it.Ā I know this might sound silly, but how often do you see famous people take a cameo just because their manager said it would be good for their career and/or image? Acting isnāt easy. Ā Itās a craft just like music or any other art form. Ā And if your heart isnāt in it, whatās the point? Ā
2) He would have to have the right director.Ā Theatre would be the best bet when it comes to a first time big acting project. Ā Thereās a lot more time to rehearse and build the character and grow. The director could take his time to guide him. Ā Film happens a lot more quickly and a lot of times the director focuses more on the over all picture rather than individual performances. Ā When I first started acting on-camera, I was so lost. Ā āWhat do you mean we just run through it once for blocking (aka knowing exactly where to walk/stand/move) and then itās go time?ā Ā A lot of the times you have to do your work on your own, sometimes literally. Ā For example, if thereās a close up on an actor talking to someone else in the scene, thereās a very strong possibility the other actor theyāre talking to isnāt even in the room. Ā Someone else could very well be reading their lines and the actor being filmed has to go with it and pretend theyāre having a conversation with someone. Ā This can be really tough for those that donāt have a lot of experience. Ā TV moves even more quickly than film and there are less takes per scene meaning less chances to get your performance right so again, for someone new, this can be very intimidating. Ā That being said, there are plenty of directors out there known for being āActorās Directorsā meaning they take the time to help the actor along. Ā If Harry is to start with film (which I very much think he should do over TV), heād just have to find the right fit.Ā
3) It would have to be the right role. Ā Firstly, Harry would be terrible at straight up comedy. Ā Comedy is not easy. Ā There was a great post going around not too long ago about how Harry isnāt funny- goofy and witty, yes, but not exactly funny, mostly due to his lack of timing. Ā And in comedy, timing is everything. Ā He would end up trying way too hard and it would come off as over the top. Ā I mean, weāve all seen iCarly, right? Ā Although, to be fair, heās not really THAT much worse than the other actors on that show. Ā Itās MEANT to be over the top. Even still, a comedic role is not going to be his best fit. Ā This is why when people started getting excited over the rumors of him being on Scream Queens, I was dead set against it. Ā Look at Abigail Breslin- she is a fantastic actress, yet on that show does not shine at all. Ā He could probably pull off the lead in a romantic comedy, but as long as he was more of the straight man (heh no pun intended) to the comedic romantic interest. Ā I think heād be great at playing the bad-boy-with-the-heart-of-gold: Logan Echolls (moody one minute, goofy and over the top the next) or Jordan Catalano (bonus points for music playing, the fact that I totally want to see him follow in Jared Letoās footsteps plus EXTRA bonus points for the Azoff connection). Ā Judging by his songwriting alone, I think heād need a role with depth for it to actually interest him and make him want to do it justice. Ā As for theatre, in about 15 years I want so bad to see him play Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Ā I think heād be brilliant. Again- with the first two caveats in place. Ā
Reasons I think Harry would be a good actor:Ā
1) Now I know weāve all heard theĀ āheās a terrible actor because he canāt lieā or how fakity fake fake he looks with all his winter girlfriends. Ā But hereās the thing- acting isnāt about lying. Ā There are obviously vary many acting schools and techniques out there, but my personal go to is Meisner technique whose goal is to get actors toĀ "live truthfully under imaginary circumstances.ā Thatās right, Truthfully. Most of the best actors are terrible liars in real life and vice versa. Ā I mean, come on, has anyone seen Taylor Swift in Valentineās Day? Ā If you have, Iām very very sorry. Ā
2) Harry is very perceptive. Ā Youāve seen him with fans that are crying. Ā He knows just what to do to calm them down. Ā He knows how to pick up on social cues and react accordingly. Ā This is important for an actor as your job is to react to what the other person is putting out there, not just spitting out your own lines. Ā
3) He wears his heart on his sleeve. Ā Harry feels things deeply. Ā Heās sensitive. While heās learned to minimize all that now, weāve seen him cry in interviews, weāve seen him bark out unexpected laughs, weāve seen him pouty. Not being afraid to show emotion is obviously a good trait for an actor to have.
4) Speaking of not being afraid, heās not afraid to make a fool of himself. As an actor, youāll be asked to do some of the most ridiculous things you can imagine just to get something that looks right. Ā Youāve seen that boy on stage. Ā Heās definitely not afraid to look foolish. Ā
5) Heās charismatic AF. Ā He knows how to draw people in. Ā He knows how to connect with people whether itās an audience or whomever his scene partner would be. Ā As an actor, you need to trust your scene partner and the first step in this is building a strong connection with that person. Ā
Iām sure there are plenty more reasons, but this is already ridiculous long. Ā If youāve made it this far, I applaud you. Ā If you have any to add, bring it! Ā Iāll happily put them on the list!Ā
For the record, this is not me saying he SHOULD or WILL be an actor. This is is simply me saying that I will be the first in line at the box office to buy a ticket to any well-directed piece with an appropriate role that Harry wants to play. Ā
Also @ Harry, if this happens, you should totally talk the casting director into putting me in the film too so we can become BFF. Ā The end. Ā
(I believe @bunboyfriend & @fakeaheartattack asked me to tag them when I finally wrote this but i canāt remember who elseā¦)Ā
