The cover is not much my cup of tea. But, seriously, although they could have chosen a better flower, opting for orchids — which are one of the most common plants in terms of variety (ordinary in number), which also encourages the formation of new species and adaptation to varied environmental conditions — for an album titled Open Wide is something quite beautiful and delicate, evoking an embrace (or receptiveness) to new experiences. Not to mention that their flowers, complex and exotic as they’re always described, are constantly praised for their perfectly crafted appearance. The anatomically graceful and inviting way in which their petals open, being widely used for ornamental purposes, transforms the title into an invitation to something deep, beyond the superficial we’re so visually accustomed to.
