TV writers will come up with vaguely weird & awkward mannerisms for a character and unwittingly craft exemplary autism representation, then try to write an explicitly autistic character and commit a hate crime

It is likely, like me, you grew up without an education in Classical (or Modern for that matter) Greek. You might have read “Hecate” and read it as “Heh-KATE” or, at best, “Heh-kuh-TEE” (a habit which I fear I might take to the grave). So hopefully you will also find this selection of pronunciation from HellenicGods.org interesting. I recommend reading their full article. In particular was the use of the diphthongs - where the tip of the tongue meets and presses flat against the roof of the mouth right behind the teeth before releasing. It makes a sound that is something between a D and a Th. This is common in Indian languages, like Punjabi, where I became familiar with it.
Ækáti - (Hecate or Hekate; Gr. Ἑκάτη, ΕΚΑΤΗ) Pronounced: æ-KAH-tee. or eh-KAH-tee.
Ærmís (Hermes; Gr. Ἑρμῆς, ΕΡΜΗΣ) Pronounced: ayr-MEES, the ‘H’ is silent; the ‘R’ is rolled slightly such that it almost sounds like the name has three syllables.
Æstía (Hestia; Gr. Ἑστία, ΕΣΤΙΑ) Pronounced: æs-TEE-ah.
Aphrodíti (Aphrodite; Gr. Ἀφροδίτη, ΑΦΡΟΔΙΤΗ) Pronunciation: ah-froh-DEE-tee, roll the ‘r’ slightly; the d (dǽlta) is pronounced like the soft th in this, not like the hard th in theory
Apóllohn - (Apollo; Gr. Ἀπόλλων, ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝ) Pronounced ah-POH-lohn.
Áris - (Ares; Gr. Άρης, ΑΡΗΣ) Pronunciation: AH-rees
Ártæmis (Artemis; Gr. Ἄρτεμις, ΑΡΤΕΜΙΣ) Pronunciation: AHR-tay-mees
Athiná (Athena; Gr. Ἀθηνᾶ, ΑΘΗΝΑ) Pronunciation: ah-thee-NAH, the accent on the final syllable, or not accenting any syllable.
Daimohn (Gr. δαίμων, ΔΑΙΜΩΝ) Pronounced: DAY-mohn, the D sounding like the th in thee (not like the th in thesis).
Dimítir (Demeter or Demetra; Gr. Δημήτηρ, ΔΗΜΗΤΗΡ) When enunciating the name Dimítir, the D (delta) is pronounced like the soft th in this, not like the hard th in theory: dee-MEE-teer, with the accent on the second syllable.
Diónysos - (Dionysus; Gr. Διόνυσος, ΔΙΟΝΥΣΟΣ) The D in Diónysos is pronounced like the th in thee (not like the th in thesis). Pronounced: dee-OH-nee-sohs.
Ílios - (Helios; Gr. Ἥλιος, ΗΛΙΟΣ) Pronounced: EE-lee-ohs.
Íphaistos (Hephaestus; Gr. Ἥφαιστος, ΗΦΑΙΣΤΟΣ) Pronounced: EE-fays-tohs, with the accent on the first syllable; there is no ‘H.’
Íra (Hera; Gr. Ήρα, ΗΡΑ) Pronounced: EE-rah. The ‘H’ (Íta [Eta; Gr. ἦτα]) at the beginning of the name of the Goddess is a vowel.
Nyx (Gr. Νύξ, ΝΥΞ) Pronounced: neeks.
Orphéfs (Orpheus; Gr. Ὀρφεύς, ΟΡΦΕΥΣ) Pronounced: ohr-FEFS
Pærsæphóni - (Persephone; Gr. Περσεφόνη, ΠΕΡΣΕΦΟΝΗ) Pronounced: payr-say-FOH-nee.
Poseidóhn - (Poseidon; Gr. Ποσειδῶν, ΠΟΣΕΙΔΩΝ) Pronounced: poh-see-DOHN, accent on the last syllable; the d (delta) at the beginning of the last syllable is pronounced like a soft th as in this, not like the th in theory.
Rǽa - (Rhea; Gr. Ῥέα, ΡΕΑ) Pronounced: RAY-ah, rolling the R just slightly.
Titánæs (Titans; Gr. Τιτᾶνες, ΤΙΤΑΝΕΣ) Pronounced: tee-TAH-nays or tee-TAH-nehs.
Yaia - (Gaia; Gr. Γαῖα, ΓΑΙΑ. Pronounced: YÆ-ah.
Zefs (Zeus; Gr. Ζεύς, ΖΕΥΣ) Pronounced: zĕfs; the diphthong εύ is pronounced like the ef in left.
I love when I realize that I’m handling a situation better than my old self would have.
ok wait wait wait wait wait
we all hate on master fu for choosing literal children, right
but what if they HAVE to be children.
think about it. Ladybug's power is creation. She basically runs off love. She's crazy, and unorganized, and the fact that she feels so much for everything is what makes her the perfect creation holder. She falls in love way too easily. She makes crazy plans. Her and her friends think they can save the world with a hijacked commercial, and they DO it. Because they believe they can. You can't tell me an adult would be able to pull off any of the crazy plans the Miracugang pulls off. (Honestly Miraculous Ladybug reawakened my inner child cuz I used to be just like Marinette and she's literally the reason I picked up sewing again but that's another rant for another time)
And then there's Adrien. His power is destruction. Freedom. (Go read drowning (in plain sight) by buggachat there's a whole character study on Plagg in there and it's beautiful.) Anyways. Imagine if Fu had waited another year or two, not to mention until Adrien was an adult with a 'fully functioning brain'. You can't tell me Adrien could've held out that long. He wouldn't have been chosen for the Chat miraculous, because he wouldn't have been trying to run away. He would have either been broken, or his father would have used his amok to force him into complete obedience by then. But in Origins, it's close enough to his mother's death that he still remembers her. He's still feeling. He's still rebelling. And then Plagg gives him the strength to keep doing that, and the outlet (as Chat Noir) to express himself so he doesn't lose himself.
And then there's the Lucky Charms. The plans that they come up with are frankly frickin bonkers. I mean, Rena's first mission (if I remember correctly) involved Chat Noir jumping off a roof on a unicycle. I honestly think Ladybug's lessened amount of life experience helps in those situations, because I'm only a couple years older than her and I would have never thought up any of those ideas. My brain is too fixed by the system at this point to think that much out of the box, although I'm working on fixing that. I can't imagine my mom, for example, coming up with any of that stuff, let alone finding a random pair of earrings and putting them on in the first place. Literally no one else would do that except for a super trusting teenager who's also into fashion. Not to mention the fact that they
TL;DR: The emotional capacity and limited life experience of the superheroes in ML are the only reason they even consented to being superheroes in the first place, and although I don't like it, Fu was working god mode when he picked them. Basically, you have to have the vision to see the possibilities without putting limits on yourself (because the holder sets the limits) and it's far easier for teenagers/younger people to imagine stuff like that. Also they're such dorks.
wow that's a long tldr sorry about that
Rip Gabriel Agreste, teach the angels how to throw children
When you step into sunlight, you honor Apollo. When you admire the moon, you honor Artemis. When you admire cloud shapes, you honor Hera. When you smell petrichor, you honor Zeus. When you laugh at a joke, you honor Hermes. When your body twitches to dance at a particularly upbeat music, you honor Dinoysus. When you enjoy the first bite of your breakfast, you honor Demeter. When you choose your peace over any conflict, you honor Athena. When you warm yourself up by sheltering yourself in blanket, you honor Hestia. When you listen to Ocean sounds, you honor Poseidon. When you smell flowers, you honor Persephone. When you admire the coolness of first day of Autumn, you honor Hades. When you wear your favourite jewellery, you honor Hephaestus. When you smile, you honor Aphrodite. When you exercise, you honor Ares. When you light a torch in a dark room, you honor Hekate.
Your body is a shrine to Gods, your being an act of devotion for them. You, by yourself, are enough for them.
I remember sitting in every history class thinking “I wonder when a woman will show up. I wonder when we’ll learn about a woman in history. I wonder when we’ll hear about a woman.” There are many important female historical figures. We don’t hear about them because men don’t want us to. Men are not the only ones who shaped this world; but they like to pretend they are.
