Rose and Hugo has pitched a tent outside. Hermione watched between reading her book, as they walked around it, placed stones in a circle and pretended to roast marshmallows. She forgot all about her book and continued to watch, bad memories filling her head about those lonely nights spent in a tent. When Ron came in, he slammed the door and Hermione flinched, dropping her book with a thud. Years later, loud noises still made her want to dive on the floor and cry. “Sorry.” He said when he walked into the living room. She nodded and picked her book up, before looking out the window once more. Ron looked out the window and frowned. “What are they doing?” He asked. Hermione shrugged and stood, standing so close to the window fog marks appeared where her breath had hit. Ron opened the window and called for them to come in.
“I went to visit Grandma!” He announced once everyone was gathered at the dinner table. Rose pouted slightly, she loved grandma. Hermione smiled and patted Rose’s hand. “Don’t be spoiled.” Hermione chided, although she was only reminding because it was her duty as a mother. Hugo was quiet, down at his end of the table and Hermione turned her head to face him, her warm brown eyes fixing themselves upon his brown batch of hair. “Yes, Hugo?” She asked. Hugo smiled mischievously at Rose and the latter nodded, quite solemnly. “Can we go camping?” Hugo blurted, casting puppy dog eyes on whomever would look at him. Rose giggled and eyes her mother, who was now staring vacantly at the table. “No.” Ron said, rather sharply. Hugo and Rose frowned. “Why not?” Hugo whined, placing his chin on the edge of the table. Hermione blinked and stared at the boy, dumbfounded. “Bad memories.” Hermione said softly, smiling a watery smile at Hugo, who was looking rather worried about the whole issue. After that day, nobody talked about camping, and the tent in the backyard went down, moved instead to the basement where Hermione never visited. Ron tended to avoid looking at the basement tent and there it stayed until Rose went to Hogwarts, and Hugo would hide in there, lonely as he was.
A young single mom who is helplessly in love with books... don’t think me old, I’m 20.
