Every Year Without Fail 4/13 Comes Along And Without Fail My Dash Is FULL Of Homestuck. I Can’t Help

Every year without fail 4/13 comes along and without fail my dash is FULL of Homestuck. I can’t help but be impressed with the dedication of Homestuck fans because they never fail to hit the anniversary no matter how many years go by, and that kind of dedication is hard to see except for outside events like HP fans on September 1st. But the real impressive thing is I have never interacted with Homestuck, have never followed someone for Homestuck, but like some kind of sleeper agent pandemic my dash is full of Homestuck from users I NEVER suspected were interested in it. They reveal their true colours and I am helpless to do anything but be bombarded

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is one of the wokest shows out there and nothing will convince me otherwise

First and foremost, the world building within Magi is simply phenomenal. Within a matter of episodes you have an in-depth understanding of the social, political and economic structure of the world without burning hardly any brain cells. And the series does one of the most amazing jobs I've ever seen in anime by directly addressing the horrific issues that come with this world. There is no pussy footing around when it comes to slavery. It isn't censored or looked at through rose-coloured glasses. It's depicted as the fucking crime against humanity it is. Additionally Morgiana's history as a slave isn't glossed over, or made into a small facet of her being vulnerable to make her fit into the damsel-in-distress love archetype. Instead the creators blatantly show her struggling with PTSD and doing her best to deal with it by freeing others. The show also deals brilliantly with all aspects of anxiety, with majority of Alibaba's character growth coming from facing and learning to cope with the fact that he does have anxiety, and understanding that parts aren't due to himself and his failures, but rather the treatment he was given by others and their overbearing expectations; something that all people with anxiety can relate to as self-loathing is difficult to admit, let alone try to overcome. Sahbmad the deputy King further solidifies Magi's place as a work of social commentary and attempts to normalise and address issues like anxiety. The man faces literally crippling social and general anxiety, yet he becomes one of the greatest heroes of the series for all of us who have struggled with anxiety before by fucking standing up to his (abusive) brother and setting things right. Alibaba's support for him only further supports the fact that anxiety is real and common, but also that it can be dealt with by the aid of others and admitting that there is something wrong in the first place. These are only a few social issues addressed in Magi, and the addition of moments like indicating that Alibaba's mother's job as a prostitute was something to be respected rather than be ashamed of, as she was only caring for her kids, solidifies the show as one of the most underrated woke shows out there. For the love of every god please watch Magi you won't be disappointed.

Leetle BH6 AU

So I was chatting with machina-rex (as we do) and what was supposed to be a really sad headcanon back-and-forth actually evolved into something really cute. BEHOLD!

We figured that after Tadashi’s death, the cafe regulars probably brought Aunt Cass flowers. She’s been keeping the cafe kind of dark and gloomy for a while, because she’s in mourning, but her customers decide to brighten the place up a bit. So they bring flowers.

And Aunt Cass then goes and takes those flowers to Tadashi’s grave to decorate it and to show him how much everyone misses him at the cafe. He ends up with the most lavishly decorated grave in the cemetery (which helps Hiro to find the right grave through his tears whenever he comes to visit)

(This is the part where it should have stayed sad but didn’t :P)

But there’s just SO MANY FLOWERS that Hiro can’t possibly visit Tadashi withought getting covered in petals, no matter how much he tries to avoid it. He always comes home smelling like a garden instead of like graves after a trip, which actually helps him deal a bit.

And then one day Ghost!Tadashi starts making flower crowns out of all of his flowers and leaving them on his grave for Hiro to find. He didn’t know how to make them before he died, but the ghost of a little girl who died in the late 1900s taught him. She was his first ghost friend. Eventually a lot of ghosts come by and start helping out, because there’s not enough time for Tadashi to put into crowns all by himself in time for Hiro’s and other people’s visits. And when there’s too many flowers, they start leaving the extra flower crowns on the other graves too, especially the ones that haven’t had visitors in YEARS. The ghosts of these graves, who haven’t had flowers in a really long time, are very happy to see them.

There are so many ghosts constantly visiting Tadashi’s grave to help with his flowers that they end up creating ghost parties late into the night. Complete with ghost fires burning and flashing through the night like party lights.

Naturally, this freaks the gravekeepers out because, hello, mysterious flickering lights in a graveyard? Flowers moving on their own and weaving themselves? But over time they realize that they’re just really pretty lights dancing and really pretty flowers, so they get used to it. Maybe even enjoy it a bit. They tell their friends about it, chuckling about the strange stuff they get up to while at their job.

Only their friends tell THEIR friends, and sooner or later it becomes this little urban legend for the city. About this one SUPER HAUNTED gravesite, but with a very benign haunting. People come from all over the world to see it, even long after Aunt Cass and Hiro have passed away too, long after Tadashi’s name has worn off of the stone. But they all bring flowers so even though he has no family left to visit him, he still always has the prettiest grave.

After watching FMA03 and getting to see the glorious sight of Winry pick locks in a matter of seconds (as well as the empowering duo of Winry and Sheska), I absolutely delight in headcannoning that Edward has no idea that she can do any of her neat tricks. More than once on their trips Winry has shown herself to be true MVP by fixing busted up vehicles and rigging up devices to fix situations that Ed's fists won't fix. Cue a situation (that's 110% Ed's fault, thank you very much) in which Winry and Ed are being held captive, chains and all. Ed doesn't have his alchemy anymore so he can't just bust through the chains, and it's tearing him up that he's putting Winry through this, especially after what happened at Briggs, she must be so scared and-- Meanwhile off to the side, Winry has already wriggled her tools from her sleeves, picked her locks, and is currently delightfully going through the dangerous materials the bad guys so stupidly left for them beside a bunch of scrap metal. A matter of seconds later, Winry has busted a shellshocked Ed from his chains and is shoving him up the stairs, nervously yet gleefully laughing all the way. "Winry, what the hell is going on?" Ed splutters as Winry uses her bare hands, toughened by years of automail work, to rip boards from the wall to make their exit. "How'd you get out? What's the rush? What the fuck, Win?" Winry giggles. "The bombs about to go off Ed. We gotta go." "BOMB? What bo-!" (On that day Ed was reminded of how terrifyingly brilliant his wife was, and how glad he was she had never been his enemy.)

Okay so one thing I get really frustrated with in post-canon FMA fanfics is how Winry always gets portrayed as frustrated, or even downright hating the fact that Ed is very much a wandering soul.

Disregard the fact that her last line in FMA:B is literally along the lines of “men who stay still are boring”.

Disregard that Winry always supported Ed and Al’s decisions to travel because she knew how much they needed to get distance, and later supported it because she knew that they just wanted to see the world.

Disregard Winry instantly jumping on the chance to travel whenever offered, including yearly travelling to Rush Valley and a clear enjoyment of her trip north before everything went to shit.

Just know that Winry, seven months pregnant and struggling to get around, just starts shoving shit into suitcases cause there was a skirmish to the west that resulted in plenty of casualties, including amputees, and fuck if they don’t need the greatest automail mechanic there to help them out. Es gets a few words of protest in before unceremoniously getting thrown into the train, Winry eagerly jumping in behind him cause she’s needed elsewhere and nothing will slow her down, not even pregnancy.

Down the line, family trips are common. Only they aren’t trips into Central like most country folk take. No. The Elric-Rockbells are wanders at heart, and the people on the railroads know each of their faces intimately due to their yearly trips to Xing, and their constant roaming across the country offering automail and handyman services.

They miss home on the road, but wouldn’t give up on seeing the world for anything.

How do we never talk about the fact that Mineta was Mt Lady's intern? We all knew that Mineta really wanted to intern under Mt Lady cause he's a perverted little dickhead, and that it wasn't what he expected due to that short clip of him vacuuming her room, but why would Mt Lady take on a student like Mineta who barely stood out in the Sports Festival? Why did she not turn him down when she realised his perverted nature? I'd like to think she took one look at his application to intern under her, remembered that one loser of a kid in the festival who deviated between being a coward and making goes at the girls, and just thought; 'I'm gonna ruin this kids life.' And so Mineta goes to intern under her, thinking it's going to be a constant montage of sexy close-ups and flirting, and instead he gets absoluTE HELL. While she's known for her laid back, almost lazy personality, Mt Lady didn't get those thick thighs that could crush a mans skull when she's NORMAL size for nothing. She puts Mineta through hell training that makes him long for Aizawa's gentle touch, and backs it up by lounging in front of him afterwards like she hasn't broken a sweet while he performs tasks he's always thought to be 'the women's job'. Every chance she gets, she flips the kids' misogynistic view of the world, and laughs gleefully as he cries and wails in response. They go out in patrol and Mineta expects to stand behind Mt Lady and get glorious shots of her ass. Wrong! Mineta is too busy using his quirk to keep the structure of falling buildings stable, a job he's always thought supporting sidekicks performed (always females to him, as of course men would be out there fighting!), and by the time he's done Mt Lady has already crushed the villains single-handily. No sexy shots for him. I know a lot of people like to label Mt Lady with incredibly derogatory and sexual characterisations due to her interactions with the media, but I'd like to think that Mt Lady knows the stigma still prevalent against women in tight suits fighting 'a mans job', and performs her job as a satire of this misogynistic portrayal. She hams it up in front of cameras because she's new and that's the only way to get sponsors, but also so she has enough publicity when she's big that her fight for feminism reaches a wider audience and has FAR more impact. She's a clever and powerful woman, she's just keeping those aspects under the radar for now until they're at their most useful in impacting social stigma. (Mineta learnt to fear Mt Lady, but unfortunately she was never able to change his misogynistic and perverted nature, clearly. So instead she makes sure that any internship or sidekick gig he tries to get with other female heroes always ends up with a fellow feminist, who beats both his ass and shitty ideals until they finally break and enters pro-hero industry as an avid feminist and great friend to a bunch of women who see him as their greatest piece of feminist work).

There is genuinely nothing funnier than Brennan trying to make an evil campaign, only for the whole plot be derailed by democratic revolution, the progression of eagle rights, mental health movements and the Power of Friendship (particularly between Maggie and Leiland, who would have hated each other in any other narrative). Escape from Bloodkeep was wholesome in a way Fantasy High never was, because the Villains were high-functioning adults who only wanted the best for their land, while the Bad Kids indiscriminately killed and stole from everyone (extra points for the fact they cut off hands and ate people, whereas the Villains only ever seemed to push people off tall heights). Poor Brennan. He never wins.
