Tired of being an afterthought
A sudden remembrance
Often forgotten, bares no resemblance
To who I want to be
A strong person
Who’s quick on their feet
I know who I am,
And who I am not
And I will not be a fucking afterthought.
Wrote this during my freshman year of college (2019)

[text ID: I am what I am and I have to accept myself; I was born like this, in this city, with this dialect, without money; I will give what I can give, I will take what I can take, I will endure what has to be endured.]
You hear a knock at your door. When you open it, you find your archnemesis sprawled out just past the threshold, battered, bruised, and very clearly only hanging onto life by a thread. “Sorry. It’s just … I didn’t know where else to go” they mutter as you look down at them.
"Have you been hearing the voices in your head again?"
"Yes."
"And what are they telling you?"
"That I should be writing."
"Is that all?"
"No."
"What else are they telling you?"
"To ignore my work in progress and start working on something new."
