Queen Aemma Arryn with her daughter Princess Rhaenyra
What episode did green fans watch where Aegon is a good father because all I saw from Aegon was that he: did not know anything about his son's schedule or interests, didn't greet his daughter (who in turn did not even acknowledge him), and then used his son to flex his power over Tyland.
Are we just conflating loving your children and not being completely neglectful with being a good parent?
Oh my God... The Green stans really didn't understand the story of the dance and the characters of Aegon II and Rhaenyra ! 😂
In the show, Aegon II does not take the throne to protect his family, but because he was forced to by Alicent. He has no interest in protecting his family, he even sought to flee Westeros in the first place, leaving his entire family behind.
In Fire and Blood, the idea that Aegon II took the throne solely for his family is just pro-Greens propaganda made by Maesters Eustace, easily spotted as false when we see Aegon II's behavior once he he has the crown on his head.
Rhaenyra, in the show, doesn't really want the crown, and primarily wants to protect the kingdom from the prophecy that essentially heralds the apocalypse.
Rhaenyra, in Fire and Blood, on the other hand, wants her crown and will fight for it, because... well it's her inheritance. She therefore has every right to claim it, knowing that in addition she was educated to fulfill this function of sovereign of Westeros, unlike Aegon II.
Rhaenyra, in Fire and Blood or HOTD is not the one who is power hungry.
At least not in the negative sense of the term, in relation to Fire and Blood (since in HOTD the women are pure innocents apparently not interested in power...) in a specific way (because once again, the crown belongs to Rhaenyra, it's not negative greed to want to keep and fight for what's yours, wanting power isn't inherently bad as far as it's concerned).
Because it is the Greens who embody this evil greed for power. It is already obvious from the color that represents this faction and the chaos that they cause and sow around them in this greed for the throne.

It is beyond me what Green stans are doing in the “anti-hotd” tag when the entire shitshow is basically an extremely canon-deviated version which serves their delusions, as follows:
1. Alicent is such a poor, innocent, do-gooder peacemaker, and certainly did not abuse her step-daughter, nor seduced and married the King for power, nor plotted for years to usurp the throne.
2. Aegon is not a gluttonous, lazy pig. He is just misunderstood. He harasses women because his daddy doesn’t love him.
3. Aemond is not a psycho. No, definitely not. He does terrible things “accidentally” because he was “bullied” (that word justifies your every action throughout your adult life? Really?)
4. Helaena is not irrelevant. No, of course not. The canon lies. She was a dreamer. Wow…a dreamer…but still completely useless.
I thought this was a safe tag where people can actually discuss the problems with this show, not for people to rant their delusions on how the showrunners “hate” the Greens, when they’ve done nothing but sugarcoat everything they do.
Like, suddenly, the coup orchestrated by the Greens is not treason, and not a malicious act (according to Ryan Conman and Sara Less), even though GRRM rightfully portrays that it is. I can’t believe that there is even a debate on that.
Fire and Blood:
Rhaenyra - Calls her half-brothers her half-brothers and her half-sister her sweet sister.
Alicent - “Mayhaps the whore will die in childbirth.”
Aegon - “I offered her an honorable peace, and the whore spat in my face.”
Aemond: “…or must we kneel and kiss the old whore’s cunny.” “The whore of Dragonstone, he means.” “The whore on Dragonstone is not the threat.”
House of the Dragon:
Rhaenyra- Refers to Aegon as Alicent’s son.
Aegon - Calls Rhaenyra the ‘bitch queen of bastards, the smug cunt of Dragonstone.’
Criston - Calls Rhaenyra a ‘spoiled cunt’ and a ‘spider who sucks her prey dry.’
But sure, the main conflict of the war doesn’t revolve around misogyny.
Aegon: *using his child as a source of cheap amusement and belittling his wife, clearly somewhat drunk*
Team Green: He’s such a good father and husband this episode. He acknowledges their existence 🥺
when her bloodline literally led to the prince that was promised and people still fix their mouths to say her nasty half brother was the true king
"If the writers of House of The Dragon keep gaslighting the audience into thinking Viserys was anything better than a powerful man who stole a young girls future, dreams and physical body in the quest for a son he will never love, I will riot"
Okay, I have one fundamental question for people who think that if it weren't for Viserys, Alicent would have a "future" - what kind? What kind of future would that be? If someone says "marriage and children of love <3" they're being ridiculous. I know the creators want to show that Alicent is THE victim, the truth is that you can count on the fingers of one hand the women in the world of ASOIAF who were not victims of an arranged marriage.
Alicent was the daughter of the second son, who despite being the Hand of the King (which he lost several times) had no lands or wealth, no army. Everything that belonged to the Hightower family didn't belong to Otto, but to his older brother, who was the Lord of Oldtown. If it weren't for Viserys, Otto would have married her off to some lesser lord... And that was it. There would be no wonderful "future", just the exact same life, but much less comfortable, because it would be hard to find a man who would allow Alicent so much disrespect and do whatever she wanted.
