Gwaine - charm and eternal flirt. Gwaine was too good at this - ease, smiles, endless confidence. he didn’t just flirt, he did it so naturally that even merlin sometimes got lost.

Gwaine:. have you ever wondered why i'm always around you?.

Merlin:. because you drink in the tavern, and then someone has to drag you out?.

Gwaine:. oh, so you care about me. and here i thought i was the one courting you.

and while Merlin was protesting, Gwaine was already throwing him his most charming smile.

look i know i've talked about it before but it was more from the angle of analyzing how this plotline could have been about persephone legitimately overthrowing hades, and not from the angle of how this one scene completely undermines all of rachel's manufactured attempts to "create a dialogue" about sexual assault and consent

and i'm specifically referring to THIS SCENE.

honestly hades is a toxic piece of shit himself who deserves jail for life but like. the tonal whiplash of this comic often has me feeling torn between "persephone is a victim of grooming who became what she once despised" and "persephone was actually always a deeply insecure and manipulative person and that's why she and hades get along so well" 💀😭 regardless of whichever conclusion you come to, neither of them are exactly indicative of a writer who really understands consent or healthy relationships, because despite whichever scenario makes the most sense, rachel still tried (and in many ways, succeeded) to convince her audience of girls and women alike that these two are healthy couple goals and that her extremely limited 10th grade understanding of consent and sexual health was "helping people"

and yes this further cements persephone as rachel's self-insert

because while she's gone on record to say she's never been sexually assaulted, she has admitted in interviews and social media posts to being in similar situations where her autonomy was being invaded upon

including a literal REAL LIFE STALKING SITUATION

like. that is an incredibly shitty and horrifying situation to be in. and i wanna make it clear, i'm not trying to use this against her in any way. this is something she didn't deserve to go through and reversely, does deserve to move on from.

i bring it up though precisely because it's incredibly telling that she, as a writer who claims she wants to use her platform as a means to "help people", is not capable of actually practicing what she preaches, and thus her characters aren't capable of doing that either. she's still exhibiting and glorifying behaviors and traits that align with the people who have harmed her, because HADES LITERALLY FUCKING STALKS PERSEPHONE AND IT'S PLAYED UP FOR COMEDY-

THIS SHIT WAS IN THE PILOT VERSION OF THE COMIC TOO, BEFORE IT WAS EVER AN ORIGINALS SERIES. HADES HAS ALWAYS BEEN WRITTEN LIKE THIS AND IT'S ALWAYS BEEN ROMANTICIZED AND PLAYED UP FOR GAGS.

Viv, you literally lied about one of your employees being a victim of sa to win a petty Twitter fight.

And not to mention, that person you said was a victim of sa, they shipped your character angel with their r@pist!?!

I do want to give a benefit of a doubt that maybe Viv didn't know or misunderstood and thought that Raphielle was a victim of sa.

However, at the same time, it is hard to do so. Because how come Viv didn't double-check to make sure what she was saying was true?

And if Raphielle was really a victim of sa, Viv shouldn't have brought that up without their permission. Imagine going on Twitter and seeing your boss saying you were a victim of sa to prove a point in a petty fight.

All-around unprofessional behavior coming from Viv in this situation.

So, I have an idea for a merlin fic, could be oc or reader insert, involving a kingdom of magic, a people born with wings, emrys = god of magic, bad!morgana turns good!morgana, dragonlord stuff, magic reveal, weird timeline (uther is alive, but the knights are around. ) uther WILL get bitchslapped, but I won't tell you by who, and other things. I promise, it fits together better than it sounds like it would. Yes? No?

MERLIN REWATCH ✦ 1.05 Lancelot

Empty my plate, fill my heart

It started small, with a sausage, a bit of egg, a few berries missing from Arthur's plate. He wouldn’t have noticed had Merlin not had traces of his thievery left on his lips.

Not that Arthur paid attention to Merlin's lips. Never. He wouldn’t.

Instead he requested the kitchen staff in person to increase his portions. It wasn’t by much but enough so Merlin could get his tribute and Arthur had enough energy for training with the knights.

Slowly the portions increased further, not that Arthur ate more, while the prince watched his manservant fill out his clothes, his face becoming softer although his cheek bones still stood out.

Now, if asked Arthur would deny it even under threat of death, but he was less scared for Merlin when he couldn't feel his vertebrae through at least two layers of clothing, or count his ribs whenever his tunic clung to his body.

With finally enough food Merlin built up muscle, the gangly boy turning into a handsome man. And Arthur knew he shouldn't look but there Merlin was, shouldering open his door while sneaking a raspberry into his mouth, the pink juice glistening on his lips. "Rise and shine, it's a beautiful day!"

Arthur rolled his eyes in exasperation. "Beautiful day and yet you have half your breakfast smeared over your face." His hand held Merlin's chin as the other gently wiped away the traces of fruit.

Arthur licked his thumb clean.

"The harvest was good this summer. I hope the fall has similar results." He humms in content.

Merlin stands and stares at him like a startled deer, his face slowly reddening in a blush and Arthur wonders how far it extends.

"My clothes for the day, Merlin. We have a lot to do," he reminds the servant as he begins his meal.

Merlin huffs and turns, barely missing the satisfied smile on Arthur's face.

arthur notices merlin and lancelot’s chemistry in s1 and then merlin and gwaine’s chemistry in s3 and comes to the conclusion that merlin likes men with long hair. in completely unrelated news, arthur thinks he might look good with long hair and decides to grow it out

Also. Gwaine is there? For some reason? Hes Merlin’s boytoy on the side. Arthur has angry sex with him when the agony of lying to your three lovers gets too much and Gwaine pushes him just far enough. Oh, and Gwaine’s boyfriend Percival is over there holding hands with his boyfriend Elyan who is also Gwaine’s boyfriend.

Oh. This is definitely all leading up to Camelot being a huge polycule. Isn’t it? Leon is in a qpr with all of them. And hates it. (Just kidding, he loves all his idiots. He just wishes they made better decisions. Or let him rest.)
