When life feels overwhelming, a reset day can be incredibly useful.Â
âÂ
Your home can be essential to your well-being. Hereâs a list to follow to start this reset day:Â
- Open your windows wide open to get fresh air, and release old energies - Clean your bed sheets with fresh and scented detergent - Vacuum and de-dust every surface, clean your oven and shower and sinks - Take the trash out and declutter your living space - Put your books back in the shelves, sort your clothes in your wardrobe - Check your fridge and pantry: throw what is old, give away what you never use
Once that is done, make a large grocery haul to fill up your house with healthy, comforting food. Light scented candles. Replace flowers from your vases and add new elements to your altar.Â
Try to list everything that makes you happy and grateful in your home: the view you have from the windows, or how your bed feels so cosy after a long day, or the memories you have in your kitchen, cooking meals for your loved ones.
âÂ
Before doing anything else, drink a large glass of water. Yes, this seems obvious, you probably think that youâre drinking enough water. Believe me: you probably are not.
If itâs lunch time, cook whatever you feel like, with one condition: make sure your dish has enough vegetables. Eat it slowly, without looking at your phone or the TV.
Go to the bathroom and take care of everything that youâve been scheduling for later. Make an appointment with the hairdresser, if possible. Clean up your nails, shave your face or body (only if that makes you feel good), scrub off dead skins and put on a hydrating mask. Take a long shower â make it as warm as you want but finish with cold, refreshing water.
Put on clean and comfortable clothes. Look at yourself in the mirror and make a mental list of everything that you like about yourself: the way your smile completely changes your face, or how your hair looks right after you cleaned it, or even the scars and marks you have on your body, indicating that through challenges and difficult times, you survived.
âÂ
Now, sit down on your desk and take a piece of paper. Write down every tasks that have been weighing on your mind. Think about every area of your life â family, friends, work, health, gym, etc. Use this Getting Things Done Trigger List to ensure that you are not forgetting anything.
Once that is done, read through the list again. Add a star to each item that can be done in 10 minutes. Schedule the others in your calendar. Then, try to knock off as many tasks on the list as you can: make an appointment with your dentist, order a present for your brotherâs birthday that is coming up, pay your electricity bills, invite your friends over for dinner, set up a date with your partner, return the clothes you just bought that didnât fit, etc.
Then, open your computer and declutter your digital space. If your desktop looks like this, start by organizing your files. Upload the important documents in your drive, delete the unnecessary ones, sort through the mess. Open your browser and do the same with your bookmarks. Check your personal emails and unsubscribe to old newsletters that you never open. On your phone, delete the apps that you never use. Save the pictures you love on your drive.
Close your computer, turn off your phone, and clear up your papers from your desk. Pour yourself a cup of tea. You have done so much by now! Hopefully, you are feeling content and rejuvenated.
âÂ
The last step is for yourself. You decide whatever you want to do now. Resetting your soul is all about self-care and spirituality, which is very personal, so I am not going to enforce anything on you. I have listed below a few steps I like to take. However, none of that is mandatory. You have to figure out by yourself what makes you feel good.
- Pour yourself a bath with scented oils and salts - Try positive affirmations with simple sentences such as âI am unique and interestingâ, âMy life is filled with love and happinessâ - Practice meditation or light stretching for 20 minutes - Open the book that youâve wanted to read for a long time - Close your eyes and take a well-deserved nap - Listen to a podcast while baking your favorite dessert
hi! iâve been struggling with a lot of negative thoughts lately, especially during this social isolation period. do you have any tips for dispelling mental negativity?
Hello! This is a tough time for us all, and itâs completely understandable to be dealing with an increase in negative thoughts and emotions. Iâm fairly well-practiced at social isolation/staying at home for long periods of time due to chronic health issues, so Iâll talk about what helps me!
Take care of physical needs.
I challenge you to spend five minutes making yourself more comfortable. Hereâs some things you might do:
Change clothes/into something more comfortable.Â
Wash your face, neck, arms, etc. with a wet washcloth.Â
Brush or comb your hair.
Brush your teeth.
Put on lip balm or lotion.Â
Drink some water (at least 3 mouthfuls).Â
Go to the bathroom!
Pay attention to sore/stiff areas of your body. Stretch and do what you need to in order to feel better. (Also fix your posture and relax your jaw!)
When was the last time you had fruit or veggies?
Do you have glasses? They could probably be cleaner.Â
Get some fresh air, even if you need to hang your head out the window.
Next level physical needs:
Take a bath or shower.Â
Go for a walk if you can, or move around your home (dance, yoga, shuffle around in your blanket cloak, whatever).
Set some hydration goals.
Follow your medication schedule.
Eat balanced meals, however that looks for you.Â
Go to bed a bit earlier, even if you canât fall asleep keep the phone put away and just relax.Â
Quick mental recharging:
Watch a cute video.
Watch a favorite movie/episode.
Change your surroundings; hang out in a different spot, change the lighting, even just rotate on your bed.
Play some music and fully listen to it. The full song, do nothing but listen. I love turning off the lights and chilling with my headphones in. OR taking a shower with the lights off and the music playing (just be safe!)
Put the phone down for a bit. Even if itâs a designated timeframe (5 minutes, 10 minutes, an hour, whatever.)
Write down whatever is bothering you. What are your thoughts? Whatâs triggering them? Often getting it down can help us release them.Â
On that note, do things without your phone. Create, read a book, watch something with your phone in the other room. Itâs a wonderful tool, but sometimes it can be too much!
Long-term mental recharging/goals:
Learn one new thing every day. It can be as simple as googling random facts or as complex as learning a new subject/topic/skill. Watch DIY or how its made videos. Just aim for learning one thing per day.Â
Clean/tidy one thing per day. Made your bed? Moved the dishes into the kitchen? Put all the wrappers/whatever into a pile for later? Cleaned the entire house? Great! Just one thing, big or small.Â
Get a hobby that doesnât involve screen time. Knitting? Crocheting? Weaving? Sewing? Reading? Poetry? Gardening? Baking? Drawing? Painting? Creating? You donât have to be good at it, learning is the fun part anyways! You also donât have to do it every day, but youâll hit a point where youâre aimlessly clicking between multiple apps and not enjoying any of it--thatâs the time to return to your hobby.Â
Figure out a schedule that works for you, and be gentle about it.Â
Example: I fluctuate quite a bit with what time Iâm ready to fall asleep, and I give myself a certain window that I can stay in bed (generally 10 hours is what I need). If I wake up before then, great! I can stay in bed until the window, but then I at least need to get up and take care of my needs before going back to my bed. But if Iâm having a bad health day, thatâs okay. You know what level of commitment you need to get benefit out of having a schedule. (TL;DR my schedule shifts with my needs, and that makes it work for me).Â
Stay connected. Text people. Call them. Video chat. Send snail mail (if safe to do so). Message them. Let them know when youâre thinking of them.Â

I absolutely love this recipe! The bread is soft, and is perfect for sandwiches, French toast, and pretty much everything you can think of. I donât want to buy bread from the store ever again!
6 Cups all-purpose flour
2 ½ Cups very warm water
2 Tbsp. Active dry yeast
2 Tbsp. Sugar
1 tsp. Salt
1 Tbsp. Butter
Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar and let sit until the surface is foamy (If itâs doesnât foam, the yeast doesnât work).
When yeast is activated, add 3 cups of the flour, the salt, and the butter. Mix until thoroughly combined, about 2 minutes.
Once mixture is smooth, add the remaining 3 cups of flour. I recommend folding the flour in until fairly combined before kneading.
Once combined, knead dough for 6-8 minutes in a stand mixer, or 8-10 minutes by hand.
Form dough into a ball, cover with plastic wrap or a cloth, and let rise for 45 minutes.
Cut dough into 2-3 equal pieces and place into a buttered bread pan, and brush melted butter (or olive oil). Allow to rise in the loaf pans for an additional 10-15 minutes. (đ Tip: Use a small knife to make a slit longways across the bread to prevent splitting along the side of the bread.)
Bake bread in a 375°F oven for 30 minutes uncovered, and and additional 10 minutes covered in foil to prevent excess browning.
Makes 2-3 loaves of bread.
So as most of you probably know, Iâm a crochet artist. Everything that I create (weather itâs a crocheted item or not) has a bit of my magic imbued in it, but sometimes I want to enchant an item Iâm making with a specific intent. Hereâs my personal list of stitch correspondences.. these are just what energy I get from the stitch personally, so feel free to make your own correspondences up for them! Crocheting or knitting is so great because the stitches can have intentions, and you can use colour magic or the correspondences of the fiber content to amplify or add to the energy of your creation!
I use US terms, and Iâve tried to order them by how complicated the stitch is.
Chain stitch - If iâm doing a foundation chain of a multiple of 9 chains, Iâll use the 9 knot chant/spell to sort of kickstart the spellâs energy and to have it act as a battery to charge the spell:
By knot of ONE, the spellâs begun
By knot of TWO, it cometh true
By knot of THREE, so mote it be
By knot of FOUR, this power I store
By knot of FIVE, the spellâs alive
By knot of SIX, this spell I fix
By knot of SEVEN, events Iâll leaven
By knot of EIGHT, it will be Fate
By knot of NINE, whatâs done is mine
If itâs just part of the pattern, I use it as an energy mover. It just keeps the energy moving from one stitch to the next, while keeping it strong.
Slip stitch - Great for glamours where the purpose is to go unnoticed. Also an energy mover, but lets the intent change freely from stitch to stitch. Single Crochet - A nice tight, simple stitch. I use it in items that I want to be protective but gentle to the wearer/user, nurturing love, close relationships.
Half double Crochet - A tight-ish, soft stitch. Warmth, protection, ease of manifestation.
Double Crochet - A looser, faster stitch. Good for freedom, moving energy away from yourself, and letting go. Treble - Sort of an amplified version of the double. Spontaneity, letting go, luck.
Front post stitches - Brings the energy of whatever stitch you use to the forefront. Lets it be directed by you and seen by the world. Good for glamour spells where you want to bring attention to yourself. ex: front post treble will let the world see how spontaneous and forward moving you are.
Back post stitches - Lets the energy of whatever stitch you use run in the background. Good for glamours where you donât want attention brought to yourself. Ex: Back post single would be great for bringing you protection, and strengthening relationships when you donât want a lot of attention (from outsiders) brought to something so personal as a close relationship.
Stitches âtogetherâ ( i.e. 2 treble together, 3 dc together) - Great for bringing people closer together (i,e, 2 together would be two people,) tightening bonds, bringing an end quicker.
Spike stitch/long stitch - Lets your energy reach farther. Good for spells where the subject is farther away (physically, emotionally or mentally) or if youâre having trouble reaching out to others. Also good for divination or astral work to âseeâ farther. Great for cursing as well when you use nice long, pointy spikes.
Moss stitch - (aka linen, granite, or woven stitch)Â This is my favourite for warding. Itâs a very tight stitch with no holes. Great for protection, keeping warmth in and not letting anything get through.
Granny stitch - Familiarity (great for when youâre traveling) comfort, familial relationships (particularly maternal), fast manifestation.
Ripple or Wave stitch - Sea/ocean magic, adaptability and riding the waves, energy flow, peace/calm.
Shell stitch - Opening up to others, manifestation, sea/ocean magic, adaptability (riding the waves, so to speak)
Picot - When used as an edging, itâs good for bringing about a good ending. It can be used to tie up all the loose ends if youâre in a situation of uncertainty. Good for curses where you want to make some bumps in somebodyâs road.
Crab stitch - Sturdy, but also is a definite ending. Good for banishing and burning bridges. Can also be good for past life work since itâs worked backwards. Also good in cursing as so many hate doing this stitch.
Corner to Corner - Order, logic. Can be great to make a giant sigil project with! Just make your sigil simple enough to crochet as pixels in your C2C throw/blanket/square.
Puff stitch -Â Self love, being gentle to yourself and other, slowing down a hectic life.
Popcorn stitch - Bringing fun and flavour into your life, great for brining a group of people closer together,Â
Crocodile stitch - Protection, psychic ability/astral work, cloaking/camouflage spells, bringing softness into your life.
Broomstick lace - Cleansing, banishing, warding. Basically all the things you can do with a besom, you can do with this stitch. Use your besom as the broomstick for added oomph! I also like to use this as a ward that filters out unwanted energy and transforms it into good energy.
Serpentine stitch - Entangling lives (i.e. if you want serendipity on your side) moving effortlessly through difficult situations, curse magic to complicate someoneâs life
