Kubo just added Renji's picture on the dead people list, and while its freaking me out, I just want to address the man.

I. LOVE. HIM. He is the purest Virgo man ever, so handsome, and most importantly SO LOYAL. When he encountered Uryu, he only asked him a few questions, one about if he hurt Ichigo, and that was all he needed to know how on he needs to fight with Uryu. Unlike Ichigo, he did not pull back on his punches, cuz he knew Uryu did not come with the intention to pull back on his punches. But there is another dimension to their dynamic too. Renji, unlike Ichigo, is a pure Shinigami; trained with Shinigami way of life. And Uryu is a pure Quincy. There first fight together against Szaeylapporo was the first actual fight where Quincy-Shinigami duo came to fight together, proving Uryu's grandfather's words right. Quincy and Shinigamis can co-live. And they both probably believe it. Yet, a thousand year old war, root in unyielding pride & ego on both sides has led to a situation where both cannot leave their tribe; since it is their identity, their way of life . And while Uryu for some reason, can act heartless enough in this tragedy but in the end Renji could not give his 100% into killing Uryu, and that became the end of him. And that is just the testament to his loyalty to his people.

Uryu might have won the fight, but Renji won hearts, and that is why he is the victor.
