summary: You and Buck have been acting weird since the night at the bar and the other members of the 118 get suspicious of your relationship

The kitchen was empty when you showed up to work. You had gotten there early to prepare the meal you were going to share together to thank the crew for being so welcoming. You had a big feast planned out and were really looking forward to everyone enjoying the meal you prepared for them and the time that it took to do so.
Not only had you wanted to impress Bobby, but you also wanted to impress Buck…maybe a little. You hadn’t stopped thinking about him since the night before and were suddenly really excited to see him.
It seemed like everyone entered at the same time and they all followed the smell of your cookies that had cooled down just enough. Buck was the first to enter the kitchen and he reached for a cookie, but you slapped his hand before he could get one.
“Damn, slugger,” he winced as he clutched his hand to his chest in a dramatic manner. You had every intention of letting him have a cookie, but now you kind of wanted him to work for it.
“Who’s slugger?” Hen asked as she got a cookie and took a bite.
“Nothing,” Buck winked at you. “Just an inside joke.” You felt your cheeks warm and you lowered your head, feeling your cheeks warm.
“An inside joke?” Eddie asked as he also got a cookie and took a huge bite out of it. “This is so good. What’s the occasion?”
“Yes,” you nodded your head. “And I just wanted to make you guys something to thank you.” You felt yourself becoming all shy again despite how close you were getting to everyone.
“You didn’t have to thank us,” Bobby spoke up as he entered the kitchen, followed by Chimney and Ravi, all reaching for the baking sheet, now the only one not with a cookie being Buck. “You’re family now.”
Your heart warmed at the words and you turned to Bobby who gave you a smile. You then turned back to Buck who was already looking at you, a smirk playing on his pink lips. You picked up a cookie off the sheet and handed it to him, your fingers brushing as he reached out to grab it.
“Well, since we’re family, I’m making you all my best dish. Homemade lasagna.”
“Sounds great,” Eddie gave your shoulder a squeeze and Buck didn’t miss it, still unsure of whether or not something was happening between the two of you. He really hoped there wasn't.
“Is there going to be garlic bread?” He asked and you gave him a look as if to say "Really?"
“You're right," he chuckled. "Stupid question."
"Of course there's going to be garlic bread, Buckley. And salad and more cookies." You smiled to yourself proudly as you watched the rest of the crew devour the cookies you had gotten up early to bake.
"Good," Chimney spoke up. "Because these definitely won't last until dinner." He grabbed another cookie and chewed on it.
"Yeah," Ravi chimed in, grabbing another one as well. At that point, it was hard to keep track of how many there were to begin with. You were so glad you had doubled the recipe at the last minute.
Buck moved closer to you, letting his shoulder brush yours and you were still unsure of his intentions as far as you were concerned. You were still very unsure whether or not he was actually interested in you. Maybe you'd have to ask Eddie since asking Buck himself was definitely not something you felt ready to do.
Even though you were getting more comfortable with him since you had hung out at the bar the night before, you still didn't feel as close to him as you did to Eddie, who had become your closest friend in the 118. He was like a brother to you and you were very grateful to have him.
You turned in his direction, but you weren't thinking about him. Buck had invaded your mind and all you could think about was how you should have just taken the chance and kissed him in the elevator the night before like you had wanted to. You weren't sure how it would have played out, but you would have hoped that he would have returned it.
"Whatcha thinking about over there, slugger?" Buck nudged your shoulder and you immediately pulled your attention away from Eddie, suddenly feeling embarrassed.
"Nothing," you shook your head.
"If you like him, you should say something," he said low enough for just you to hear.
"I don't like Eddie." And you didn't. Not like that, anyway. You were afraid you were starting to feel that way about Buck, though. But you were going to push those feelings down because you didn't think that getting involved romantically with a coworker was the best idea. You had seen that play out so many times and it never ended well.
"Well, it seems like you do with the hearts that were forming in your eyes." How were you going to explain that you were thinking about him and just happened to be looking in Eddie's direction? And it would have been just downright embarrassing to admit that you were thinking about kissing him. As far as you were concerned, you were going to take that secret to your grave.
"Alright, I guess I believe you," he nudged you shoulder one more time before grabbing one more cookie than heading over to the couch to take a seat.
Buck didn't understand how you couldn't see how he felt about you. Everyone else in the 118 could, so why did you seem so clueless? And why couldn't tell if his feelings were reciprocated? That was something that was so obvious to him, but you were just a big question mark. You were mysterious and he couldn't figure you out for the life of him.
He knew that you were shy and maybe he just needed to get closer to you for you to fully open up. But then there was Eddie. You were definitely close to him and Buck was definitely jealous of that even though he'd never admit it. Every time he watched the two of you, he felt sick to stomach and would suddenly be filled with anger.
He watched Eddie whispering something as the two of you sat on the couch, not even aware that he was crumbling his cookie in his fist, catching the attention of Chimney. He sat to the left of him, completely blocking his view of you and Eddie and maybe that was for the best.
“What’s going on, Buck?” Chimney asked and Buck just furrowed his eyebrows.
“Nothing,” Buck shook his head.
“Well, something clearly made you upset since you crumbled your cookie.” Buck looked down and opened his hand, the cookie crumbs falling to the table.
“It’s nothing, Chim, I swear.” Buck knew that Chimney was just looking out for him, but it just seemed like he was trying to pry and Buck didn’t like that. Not one bit. This was no one’s business but his own. And maybe yours if he ever got the guts to tell you how he felt.
“Well, let’s just say that if looks could kill, Eddie would definitely be dead.”
Buck sat with the words the entire day, deciding that he was finally going to tell you after work. He could see how it would play out so clearly in his head. He’d show up at your apartment and tell you exactly how he felt about you and you’d respond with a kiss before telling him that you felt the same way. You’d then invite him inside and the two of you would snuggle up on your couch and watch a movie, your night filled with nothing but kisses and giggles.
But all of that came crashing down when he watched Eddie chasing you around the firehouse. As soon as he caught you, he picked you up and spun you around, giggles spilling from both of your mouths. Nothing going on between you and Eddie his ass. He didn’t want to see the rest of the interaction and hurried to his locker to grab his stuff. He really needed to get the hell out of there as soon as possible.
“Damn, where’s the fire, Buck?” Hen chuckled. “Got a hot date?”
“Something like that,” Buck muttered under his breath as he put the strap of his bag over his shoulder, making a beeline for his jeep just in time to watch you and Eddie exit the firehouse to the parking lot.
“Hey, Eds,” you called after him. Eds? Yeah, Buck was so fucked. “Can I get a ride to the bar? I left my car there last night.”
“Sorry, I have to go pick up Chris. But Buck should be able to.” Eddie was trying his hardest to set the two of you up and he was hoping that now he would finally be successful. He had hoped that leaving the two of you alone at the bar the night before would have made you confess your feelings to each other, but considering the fact that you weren’t acting like a couple, he was beginning to think that didn’t happen.
“Is that okay, Buck?” There was no fucking way that he was going to be in a car alone with you. You were a taken woman and he was afraid of what he would do. He wanted to kiss you so bad and he definitely wasn’t going to hurt his best friend by doing so.
“Sure, come on.” He nodded his head towards the parking lot and you followed him. He should have known that he couldn’t say no to you. Once you were both in his jeep, he sped off to the bar, simultaneously wanting you to be out of the car as soon as possible but also wanting to spend time with you. He couldn’t seem to make up his mind. Especially since it seemed like you were dating his best friend.
Buck was suspiciously quiet as he drove, maybe going a little bit over the speed limit. You looked over at him and could see that his jaw was clenched and he seemed very upset. What had happened that the man who never shut up had been rendered speechless? Surely it had been your fault, right?
“Buck?” You asked, turning to look at him again. He kept quiet, not even looking your way. “Buck, c’mon, what’s going on?”
“Nothing,” he shook his head. “It’s stupid.”
“I bet it’s not. I know we’re not exactly close, but you can tell me, I promise.” His anger was reaching its peak as he pulled into the parking lot of the bar. He pulled into a spot and put the jeep in park before getting out, making his way towards the building. He couldn’t tell you now. He really couldn’t.
“Buck,” you called after him as you followed his lead, trying to catch up to him. “Buck, please,” you pleaded.
Now he felt like a dick. All you were trying to do was talk to him and he was treating you like garbage. You didn’t deserve that. Especially when you didn’t do anything wrong.
“You wanna know what’s going on?” He asked, turning around to face you. “Fine,” he sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I like you, okay?”
Your eyebrows furrowed at his words. Of course he liked you. You were friends, right? Unless there was some underlying meaning to his words that you were missing.
“I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since the moment you stepped into the fire house and it’s driving me fucking crazy.” He was stepping closer to you and you were just trying to wrap your head around the whole thing. He liked you? As more than a friend? Since when?
“You like me?” That was not what you thought he was going to say. It was very common for the people you liked to not reciprocate your feelings, shutting you down time and time again. But this was different. Buck liked you. He liked you and as more than a friend.
“I do,” he nodded. “But don’t worry about it. I know you’re with Eddie.” Where had he gotten that impression? You and Eddie were friends. Just friends, absolutely no attraction between you. And Buck should have known that.
“Buck, I’m not with Eddie,” you laughed. “He’s just a friend. More like a brother, actually.”
“You what-”
“I like you,” you told him, taking his hands in yours. His eyes widened then he looked on either side of him, but you grabbed him by his face, forcing him to look you in the eyes. “Yes, you, Buck.”
“But, what about-”
“For once in your life will you please just shut up?” You asked and pressed your lips to his. He gasped into your mouth but he eventually melted into you, wrapping his arms around your waist as his lips slotted between yours.
It was soft and sweet and everything either of you could have imagined. His lips were just as soft as you were hoping and he seemed to pour all of his feelings for you that he had accumulated over the past few weeks into the kiss, making you feel nothing but special.
Just as he licked into your mouth, a rain droplet hit your cheek. You pulled away just as it started to downpour and Buck grabbed you by the hand and pulled you under the awning to shield you both from the rain and his lips found yours once again and he smiled into it.
“What?” You laughed.
“Nothing,” he pecked your lips. “You’re just an angel.”

You’re smiling at him like you know him.
Tsukishima doesn’t know you. He’s just seen you for the first time when you walked into the gym–presumably to become the manager for the club next year.
It’s starting to worry him, you haven’t been properly introduced, only your eyes have met a few times, yet you don’t hesitate to smile every time you make contact.
You’re not in the same class. But he can tell by your mannerisms that you’re a foreign student. You talk a little louder than most, and your Japanese is accented but not enough where he can’t understand.
He knows he’s spot on when you go to greet Daichi with a handshake, he can see you firmly grip his hand which catches him off guard.
Y/n. That’s your name.
It’s a pretty name he admits to himself, you’re a pretty girl so it fits. He doesn’t acknowledge that–or tries not to.
You’re standing in front of the whole team being introduced to everyone, waving and smiling like you’re old friends.
He can see from his peripheral vision when they all bow that you’re unsure of what to do. You awkwardly tilt your body down too, and he lets out a quiet chuckle.
It’s cute.
He’s disgusted by himself, he thinks that something is up with him.
Shaking his head, he starts his warmups.
He tries not to keep his eye on you, but he can’t help it.
You’re holding a clipboard now, there's a paper on it he can’t see, but he can tell by your furrowed brows that you’re still struggling a bit with reading.
Making an excuse for himself, he walks up to where his water bottle–luckily right next to where you are, turns around and takes a sip of it. He’s standing right next to you now, reading the same paper as him.
Your eyes scan left to right on the paper, he laughs.
Whipping your head over, you ask, “Is something wrong?”
“Right to left, we read right to left.” He speaks a little slower than his usual pace—hoping you wouldn’t be offended.
You aren’t a smile grows on your face instead. “Oh my gosh–I was wondering what was wrong this whole time!” You laugh at yourself, thanking him quietly before restarting, eyes moving right to left this time.
“You’re so american.” He mutters, a chuckle comes out of him as he says it.
“Is that a compliment?” You ask, the paper is discarded now, your full attention is on him.
“Whatever you want it to be.”
You roll your eyes, hitting his shoulder with no real force behind it, “Whatever Kei.”
He doesn’t miss the fact that you’ve called him Kei instead of his surname. He brushes it off as another mistake, you’re new to the country after all.
Later he hears you complimenting “Kageyama and Hinata”, your voice is still louder than what a normal student speaks, and you’re gushing about their skills, to their faces. But then he looks over at you, and you two make eye contact.
He almost misses how you wink at him, it's a teasing one but it still makes his heart flutter. Then as quickly as you looked over, you looked away, a bright smile present on your face while you talked to his other teammates.
It’s definitely not fair of you to make him feel this much. Because he might just fall in love.

By the time you’d gotten down to the storage room, Yachi was already standing outside, a bag of pinnies hoisted over her shoulder. Her eyes lit up the moment she saw you, letting one hand go to wave at you.
“Hi Y/N!” she said with a wide smile. You smiled as you approached, reaching out toward the girl.
“Do you need help with those?” you asked, offering a hand. Yachi leaned back slightly, shaking her head.
“I’m alright!” She motioned toward the storage room. “There’s one more bag in the storage room though– it’s on the top shelf. Do you mind grabbing it?”
“Of course.”
You stepped past her, making your way toward the entrance to the storage room. However, once you stepped in, you were immediately faced with the sight of a tall figure hunched over in front of you, pinnies strewn across the floor as he picked them up. You froze, immediately recognizing the figure despite the fact that they were faced away from you.
“Tsukishima?” you asked, causing the boy to stand up straight. He turned, eyes widening slightly when he saw you standing there.
“Y/N? What are you doing here?” His features were dimly illuminated by the light above, barely enough to make out the fact that he was squinting at you.
“I was just helping Yachi grab the pinnies,” you answered slowly. “What were you–”
You were cut off by the loud creak of the metal door behind you, followed by a loud bang as it was slammed shut.
Tsukishima frowned. “What the–”
You reached for the door handle, rattling it a couple times being hit with the realization that it was locked. You pushed your body against the door, holding onto the handle that refused to budge.
“Hello?” you called, banging on the door with your fist. “Is anyone out there?”
“Sorry, Y/N. We had to do it.” Lev’s muffled voice sounded from the other side of the door.
You banged on the door once more. “Lev? What’s going on? Open the door!”
“Have fun in there,” another voice, which you recognized as Hinata’s, chimed in. This caused Tsukishima to approach you, hitting his own fist against the metal.
“Let us out of here you dumbass!”
Next came Inuoka’s voice. “Not until you guys admit you like each other!”
“Sorry, Tsukki!” Yamaguchi called.
The two of you continued hitting your fists against the door, streams of pleas (and obscenities, courtesy of Tsukishima) escaping you. After a couple minutes of this, your energy eventually drained, leaving you to lean against the door. Tsukishima walked away, the size of the storage room only allowing him to move a couple steps.
“Why the hell would those idiots lock us in here?” he said with a huff, shaking his head.
You let out a sigh, slowly sinking to the ground with your back against the door.
“Someone will probably notice we’re gone and come looking for us,” you offered, though your voice was laced with an uncertainty that made Tsukishima scoff.
A silence fell upon the two of you as the realization sunk in that you were trapped. Inuoka’s words echoed through your head, embedding themselves at the forefront of your mind.
Not until you guys admit you like each other!
You glanced toward the boy, who had also gotten tired of standing and resorted to taking a seat against the stack of gym mats. He stared into space with a distant expression, his eyebrows tilted downward slightly. Slowly, a frown made its way onto your face as you studied his features in an attempt to figure out what he was thinking.
“That game you were talking about before.” Tsukishima’s voice broke you out of your thoughts. You glanced over at the boy, though his eyes remained elsewhere. “Stardew Valley? What is it?”
Your mouth twitched. “It’s a farm life simulation. You basically own a farm and have to take care of it, but you also get to talk to the people in the town and do quests and other things.”
The boy gave a short nod. “Is it fun?”
“Yeah, I think it is,” you answered. “There’s a ton of creatures and magic you have to deal with when you get deeper into the game, and you even get to pick one of the townspeople to date and get married to.”
“Ah, so is that who Sam is?” he asked. You giggled, nodding.
“I’ve gone through the game a couple times, but he’s always my top pick when it comes to the romance plot.” Tsukishima nodded again, continuing to stare off into the distance. Curiously, you tilted your head at the boy. “Why do you ask?”
He gave a small shrug. “I don’t know. I just– I feel like I don’t know much about you.” Tsukishima paused for a moment, though when you didn’t respond, he went on. “I mean, I didn’t even know you had a brother until a couple days ago.”
The memory caused warmth to bubble in your chest as you laughed. “I think it’s funny that you didn’t know my last name, otherwise you would’ve known that Kenma and I are siblings.”
Tsukishima could only grimace, clearly remembering the unfortunate events he’d gone through.
“I’m sorry for that. I honestly shouldn’t have assumed.”
You shook your head. “It’s alright. How could you have known?”
“I could have asked you,” he pointed out. “Instead I just assumed and made decisions based on my incorrect information.”
“Really, Tsukishima. It’s ok,” you said with a small smile. “Do you have any siblings?” He nodded.
“An older brother. He’s in college right now.”
“Did he play volleyball too?”
This made Tsukishima pause, something clouding his expression for one moment that suddenly made you regret asking. You were about to backtrack when a second later, Tsukishima let out a soft chuckle and nodded.
“He still does. Just for fun, though.” You sighed in relief as the boy spoke up once more. “Why the sudden question about my family?”
“I think… I’m in the same boat as you.” Your answer came after a few seconds. “I mean like, I don’t really know much about you either. We’ve been talking for how long and I still don’t know your name.”
The confession caused Tsukishima to let out a laugh, his shoulders shaking as he glanced over at you.
“It’s Kei.”
“Kei.” The name rolled off your tongue with a warm familiarity despite it being the first time you’d ever uttered it. “That’s a nice name. What does it mean?”
“Firefly,” he answered. “It’s kind of a bother though. I always have to explain to people how to pronounce it.”
“I think it suits you,” you said without thinking. When Tsukishima raised his eyebrows, you simply shrugged. “I don’t know. It just… does.”
You shivered, hugging your arms as a chill coursed its way through your body. Tsukishima immediately noticed, looking at you in confusion before glancing up. He hesitated for a moment before speaking.
“Come sit over here,” he said, eyes pointed up at the ceiling. “You’re sitting right under the vent.”
You tilted your head back, only then noticing the air vent above you that was blasting cold air right onto your body. Looking back toward the boy, you watched as he shifted slightly to make room against the pile of mats for you to sit. Without hesitation, you stood up and made your way over, taking your seat beside him.
“Is there anything else you want to know?” Tsukishima asked, gaze remaining forward. “You know, since we’re playing 20 questions.”
You stared down at your hands, running your thumb over every knuckle. As the silence grew between you two, you found yourself paying attention to every little sound in the room. The air blowing in through the vent, the faint buzz of the light, Tsukishima’s near silent breaths coupled with your own. However, none of it could distract from the sound of the one burning question replaying in your mind like a broken record.
“When you found out Kenma and I were siblings,” you began, carefully choosing each word that left your mouth. “The first thing you asked was if I had a boyfriend. Why is that?”
You could tell the question caught Tsukishima off-guard, feeling him physically tense up beside you. For a moment, you regretted bringing it up, but the curiosity burned into you like the warmest day in summer.
It was as though a year had passed as you waited for his response, every second an hour. The softest sigh escaped Tsukishima’s lips, and you would’ve missed it had you not been sitting right beside him.
“I’m not good at this,” he said. “Talking about my feelings and stuff. Honestly, I still don’t understand it all.” You furrowed your eyebrows, though remained quiet to allow him to speak. “I’ve been less focused lately, and it felt like there was always something nagging at me, but I could never tell what. I only knew that whatever I was feeling would go away when I talked to you.”
You looked over at him with wide eyes, though he didn’t meet your gaze.
“That’s why I looked forward to when we would talk every night. Even when it was hard for me to figure out how to explain things, it was nice not having to worry about anything but what we were going over. But the more we talked, the worse it would get when you hung up.”
“Tsukishima…”
“So when I found out that you didn’t have a boyfriend, a huge part of me was so relieved because every day that I distanced myself from you, the more intense the feeling became. You just have this…effect, wherever you go. Whenever I talk to you, I don’t have to worry about my matches, or school, or anything else. I can just enjoy the time we spend…” Together.
The last word hung unspoken, though its weight still held firm.
Together. Physically, you were. You were sitting side-by-side on the floor together. You were trapped in the storage room together. You were talking together. All these things the two of you were doing together, yet…
“You know, for someone who’s not good at talking about his feelings, I’d say you articulated them pretty well.” Despite the teasing nature of your words, your voice was completely serious. “I think how you explained your feelings was better than I ever could.”
Tsukishima slowly turned his head, his gaze burning into yours.
“Try,” was the only word he uttered, watching you intently.
You nodded, taking in a deep breath.
“You’ve definitely seen it by now, but I’m not the most organized person. There’s always like, a million things going through my brain, and a reason why I’ve always liked video games is because it gives me one thing to focus on.” A small chuckle escaped your lips. “But whenever I’d talk to you, it’s like you kept me grounded. Even when I was freaking out about my exams or worried about homework, you managed to keep me sane. You’re a lot kinder than you give yourself credit for.”
This caused Tsukishima to raise an eyebrow at you, though you just smiled.
“You’re really blunt sometimes, but it's comforting to know that when you’re giving encouragement, it means you truly believe in it. I feel like honesty is the kindest thing you can give someone. It’s just one of many things that I like about you.”
The last sentence slipped from your mouth without even thinking about it, causing you to freeze. You immediately looked away as heat rose to your face, covering your hands with your face.
“Just one? What are the other things?” Tsukishima asked, a slight tease in his tone. Without looking at him, you shoved the boy as hard as you could.
“Oh my god, I’m leaving,” you said, pushing yourself to your feet. Before you could walk away, however, you felt the gentle tug of Tsukishima’s hand on your wrist, holding you back.
“We’re locked in here, remember?”
“Then I’m going to go sit back over there.”
“Under the vent?”
“Yeah.”
“Y/N.” Without letting go of your hand, Tsukishima slowly brought himself to his feet. He said your name once more, his voice soft as he carefully pulled at your arm to get you to face him. Still, you refused to meet his gaze, your eyes glued to the floor despite his close proximity. “Did you mean it?”
“Mean what?” you mumbled, causing Tsukishima’s face to twist.
“When you said you liked a lot of things about me,” he said. Your eyes glanced down to your wrist, Tsukishima’s hand still carefully wrapped around it.
You nodded slowly, taking in a deep breath.
“It’s you. I like you.”
You closed your eyes, awaiting the rejection that you’d feared for so long.
Yet it never came.
Tsukishima’s hand let go of your wrist, and your heart temporarily dropped, only for it to swell as he laced his fingers with yours.
“So this is what it feels like,” he murmured. Your breath hitched as he squeezed your hand. “to like someone.”
“You…like me?” you asked, unsure if you’d heard him correctly.
Using his other hand, Tsukishima gently lifted your chin, forcing you to look into his eyes. His gaze was soft, a warm fondness sweeping throughout your entire body as a subtle smile spread across his face.
“I do,” he confessed. “I like you so much I think my heart’s about to burst.”
As though your body moved on instinct, you reached for the collar of his shirt, pulling him forward as you pressed your lips against his. Tsukishima let out the smallest gasp, though his initial surprise was immediately forgotten as he melted into your touch. Your heart swelled, warmth bubbling up in your chest even as the two of you let go.
You stared at each other with wide eyes, only a couple seconds passing before you burst out into a fit of giggles. Tsukishima smiled, his fingers still interlocked with yours as he wrapped one arm around your body. You grinned, letting go of Tsukishima’s hand only to finally wrap your arms around his, holding him tightly.

“You guys are running suicides when we’re back in Miyagi,” Ennoshita scolded, shaking his head as he walked with the rest of the 2nd-years. “And you, Yachi. I expected this from the others, but not from you.”
“Don’t blame Yachi for this! We roped her into it! It’s not her fault,” Inuoka said, flinching when Yamamoto elbowed him.
“How do you just casually forget that you locked two people in the storage room together?” he questioned.
“That’s what you’re most concerned about? Not the fact that they locked two people in the storage room, but that they forgot?” Kenma asked, receiving a glare from his fellow third-year.
“Shut up, Kenma.”
Ennoshita rolled his eyes as they arrived at the storage room, pointing toward the 2nd-years, some of whom wore expressions akin to a hurt puppy, while the rest looked completely unbothered.
Shibayama walked forward, unlocking the door to the storage room before pushing it open. However, upon entering, he froze at the sight inside.
“What? What’s wrong?” Hinata asked, jumping forward and poking his head inside.
Huddled in the corner against the pile of mats was you and Tsukishima. Your body rested on his chest, his arms wrapped around yours, both of you fast asleep.
A wide grin spread across Hinata’s face as he turned back to the other 2nd-years.
“They’re asleep,” he said, stepping back as the others moved to see for themselves.
“We did it!” Inuoka exclaimed, giving Hinata a high-five.
“Aww, they’re so cute!” Yachi said, smiling.
“Wait, let me take a picture.”
“He’s going to hate you forever.”
“I don’t care. It’s funny.”
“Alright!” Ennoshita said, causing everyone to turn to him. “You kids get out of here and stop harassing them.”
The 2nd-years all glanced at each other, then toward their seniors. After receiving multiple pointed looks, they nodded in disappointment before walking off together, their chatter continuing to echo through the hall.
“What are you doing, Noya?” Tanaka asked as Nishinoya stepped into the storage room, a mischievous grin on his face as he pulled out his phone.
“I’m saving it for their wedding day,” he replied, taking a couple photos before turning back to the others. “Should we wake them up?”
“Yeah, probably,” Fukunaga said. “Or we could just let them sleep.”
“We’re not leaving them in a storage room,” Yamamoto argued. “It’s musty in here.”
“I almost feel bad waking them up,” Ennoshita said, voice trailing off. “I’ve never seen Tsukishima look so…comfortable.”
“I don’t.” Without another word, Kenma walked up to the two of you. The others watched as he pulled out his phone, scrolling for a couple seconds before lowering it down right in front of your face. He pressed a button and music began blasting through the speakers at full volume. The two of you jolted awake, disorientation evident in your expression as you lifted your head.
“What the f-”
“Good morning, lovebirds,” Yamamoto said as he walked forward. He reached down, grabbing you by your hands before pulling you to your feet. “We will talk about this later, young lady. For now, you’re supposed to be on lunch duty with Yachi.”
Before you could protest, Yamamoto was pulling you toward the exit. You glanced over your shoulder toward Tsukishima, who held a subtle smirk on his face as he watched. You smiled back, holding eye contact for a moment longer before inevitably being dragged out by your upperclassman.
Tsukishima looked up at Kenma, who stared down at him with narrowed eyes and an expression stained with slight disgust.
“I know I don’t have to say it, but treat her well, ok?”
Tsukishima blinked up at the older boy, taking a moment to register his words before he nodded, a slight warmth creeping up his neck.
“I will. I promise.”
Kenma held his narrow gaze for just a moment longer before giving a slow nod. He extended his arm out toward the younger boy, which Tsukishima took after a moment of hesitation, allowing Kenma to help him up.
“Let’s get back to the games.”

When Lando tries to play matchmaker with his two friends, the negative response comes from someone he did not imagine

"What do you mean 'no'?" Lando looked at you as if you grown a second head. "Don't play nonchalant about this, that's his thing. I've heard you ramble about him before."
"Yep." You agreed, sipping your drink.
"So why the fuck not?" He crossed his arms. "You'd be bloody great together."
"Do you really think that, muppet?" You bit back, eyes still lifeless staring back at him. Lando nodded. "You don't understand man. I like him? Yes. Very much. So much is inebriating." You confessed, looking almost... tired?
"But I've come to the terms that we would never work." Your shoulders moved up and down. "We are so fucking different Lan, and you know that. He's like, kind and a ray of sunshine. I'm a mess, you should know this, I'm friends with you, that's telling."
"I'm gonna ignore this outrage statement because I'm on a bigger mission here." He continued, knowing you were deviating the conversation. "The fuck is that coming from?"
"When you like someone that much, you star to try and match your stuff with them." You shrugged, adjusting your hair on the mirror. "And as much as I want to, we just- don't. That's like you said, he is nonchalant, I'm way too chalant. He is so sweet, Im bitter. He is all composed and... I dunno... Like those fitness influencers who have insane wellness routines? You know. And I'm the entire opposite. He's sweet as a grape."
"Are you quoting Hozier's Too Sweet at me right now?" His green eyes looked at you in disbelief. "Are you for real?"
"Kinda."
"Okay I know you may be having doubts, but why not try? It's better than not try, right?"
"Okay now you're just quoting The Good Place at me." You mocked, hearing people bang on the door to the bathroom. "But you know that I'm way too down bad for him to just try and go along with it. I'm usually cool with this kinds of stuff, but... I know I'll just be delusional and want more with him."
"So make us both a favor and drop it, because I don't wanna have my heart broken, and you don't wanna hear me whining about it, sir Norris."
Oscar's eyes were trained on you the moment you left the bathroom with Lando at his house party. You and Lando knew each other since kids, and it was very obvious to everyone in that house, including him, that nothing would ever happen between the two of you.
You noticed his glance and just offered him a small smile before turning and starting a conversation with Max Fewtrell, yours and Lando's best friend.
"Thought you said that'd work." He commented when Lando came up to him. "I really shouldn't trust your matchmaking skills, remember the redhead you tried to hook me up with in Vegas?"
"Hey, she was hot! And liked koalas."
"She liked spiders."
"You grew up with both, mate, whatever." Oscar shooked his head with a smile on his face. "And she wants you, she's just worried you might not want her."
"What?"
"She didn't believe when I said you were down to meet her. She thinks I'm setting her up with someone who does not want her."
"Why would she think that? You did that before?"
"Not the case right now. She thinks that because she basically doesn't think she's good enough for you."
The softest "what" came out of Piastri's lips.
"Yeah, she even quoted Hozier at me."
"I... don't know what that means."
Later that day, when he was in bed, smeling a bit like alcohol and feeling his body light from the drinking, Lando's words came back to him. He was waiting to sober up more, although he was probably the most sober out of everyone in that party, including you, who at some point started trying to teach Pietra how to creepwalk, to which, you failed.
He kept watching you that night, from some distance, of course, to try and understand what you meant to Lando when you said "too different".
And to be honest, he kinda got that.
You weren't necessarily and extrovert, at least with those you didn't know, but with your friends, wow were you outgoing.
You and Max were doing shots at random moments of the night, a bet to see who would fall first. You'd drink whataver he drank, and he'd drink whatever you drank.
He smoked some weed, so you did too.
You took jello shots made purely out of the cheapest vodka you could find, so he did too.
Lando and Pietra were trying to keep up with the two of you, but it was in vain. You two were on fire.
And to be honest, Oscar liked that.
You probably didn't see it, but you were both bold, only on different aspects of life.
And he wanted to show you that.
So, phone in hand, he texted Lando, who was already on his own room, probably with some fling of his. The party had died down and only a few people were left, including you, who were downstairs probably playing truth or dare or never have I ever with the other survivors of the night, and him, who was in a guest room.

Spotify open. He typed down those two words and sure enough, a song by an Irish man popped up. The beat was kinda animated, and he didn't though to bother searching up the internet to see what other thought of that song.
He took his own conclusion.
"If you can sit in a barrell, maybe I'll wait". In his slightly disturbed mind, that meant he still had a shot. He just needed to prove you two weren't so different.
And while drunk, he took an oath to do that.
.
For the 2024 season, Lando had hired you as his personal counselor, which was just an excuse for you to travel around the world with him.
The reason why? Oscar didn't knew, but he wasn't complaining.
That meant seeing you around the paddock a lot, even til the highest hours of the night after each race, post-debriefs and everything.
Today was one of those days.
It was after a session of FP1 and FP2 of the US Grand Prix, and the post-practice debrief had just ended, people moving around and starting to leave.
Oscar gathered his stuff and was ready to walk to his own car and leave.
That's when he spotted you.
On one of the halls from the McLaren hospitality, walking around in a jacket he did not recognize as any of the teams merch.
"Are you switching scuderias?" He asked, nodding the jacket direction, startling you.
You looked down, almost forgetting which clothes you were wearing. "Oh that's just from the next NASCAR winning team."
"You like NASCAR?"
"I was very frustrated when I realized Cars was about NASCAR and not F1, I might switch motorsports." You smiled.
"Good luck cheering for Joe Gibbs."
"Oh which one do you choose? Spire?"
"No, never. 23XI is way better."
You rolled your eyes at his statement, a small smile still on your lips, a huge one on his.
"I'll laugh to your face when Denny Hamlin ends Riley on track next cup, Piastri."
"It's on, Y/ln."
Two days later, after the Grand Prix, Oscar dropped the bomb on the interview.
"... Maybe we should just adopt NASCAR rules and end things on track." A knowing smile on his lips, looking at the camera.
He wanted you to know. He made sure of it, it wasn't just some comment, there was more.
"Mate, NASCAR rules? Are you insane?" Lando asked later, watching you perk up at that mention.
Oscar smiled and watched you, barely giving his teammate any recognition. You searched the internet, the key words you never thought would be put together: "Oscar Piastri + NASCAR".
And sure enough, there it was, the interview.
You looked up at him, slightly flabbergasted and changed your expression to a smile.
And God, did he love that smile.
.
"Disrespectfully, Fuck Papaya Rules."
Oscar phisically perked up when he heard that. He was strolling around the paddock and caught you talking with reserve McLaren driver, Pato O'Ward.
"Not only that's dumb, but honestly, fuck-ass name for a strategy."
He chuckled at that, hearing you from around the corner.
"Honestly I don't know if I'd follow that if I ever fill in for any of them." Pato admitted, shrugging. "I understand when it's for the Constructors Championship but Drivers? Fuck that."
"My favorite moment so far is when Oscar cut him right on the beginning, it was kind of a 'fuck your championship' moment, I live for that."
"Lando's gonna fire you if he hears you say that." Pato laughed. "Remember when you hit him because he didn't spray Oscar on the Hungary podium?"
"And I'd do it again."
"You hit Lando to defend me?" Oscar asked later that day, on the parking lot, as you were waiting for your friend.
You looked up at him and his smug smile.
That actually caught you unexpected. Oscar was coy, you knew that, but he was getting progressively bolder and more challenging.
It messed with your brain.
"You eavesdropping?"
"I just like to hear when people talk about me." He admitted. "Don't you?"
"No. I hate knowing what people think of me."
Oscar chuckled. That was kind of perfect, because he wasn't good with words.
"I promise I won't tell you what I think of you if I can give you a ride back to the hotel."
That was the main difference between you and Oscar: you were provocative, alluring, liked to get under people's skin, while he was straightforward, deadpan and liked to see people's reaction to brutal honesty.
"Sure."
.
It was the last race of a triple header, Brasil.
Five DNFs, the race and the quali delayed so many times, it was exhausting. Oscar finished P8, which, yes, was a bad position, but he was glad he at least finished the race, unlike five other drivers.
He was so tired, and it showed on his face.
No one even dared ask him or Lando how they were feeling because it was obvious, so he pratically slipped away from the mechanics and engineers.
And he found you. Sitting on the floor, back to the wall that separated his and Lando's driver room, texting rapidly.
He wanted so bad to have you to him, to talk to you before media duties, to have you on his driver room alone. But he and Lando weren't exactly on the best terms, so he couldn't just snatch away his friend.
Or couldn't he?
"Lando's gonna be late." He said, snatching your attention immediately. "If you want to come in."
"Yeah, in a sec." You went back to typing right away.
"You texting someone?" You nodded but answered back:
"Since when do you care?"
"I don't know, I just want your attention." There it was again, the honesty. "I mean, the person you might be texting can be cool and all but, do they drive at 300km/h for McLaren?"
You stopped, looking up at him, almost not believing those words actually came out of his mouth.
"He doesn't..." He smiled. "He actually drives for Mercedes and is a 7 time world champion."
"You're texting Lewis?" Oscar asked softly, smile vanishing. "Isn't he too old for you?"
"First of all, Lewis Hamilton could never be 'too old'. And second, It's not like you're thinking." You pushed yourself up, entering his room. "I'm just congratulating him on the Senna homage and asking what he wants to get me tickets for the next Kendrick Lamar concert."
"I don't know how many times I can offer to babysit Roscoe."
Oscar closed the door behind him, a sigh of relief leaving his lips.
He launched himself on the nearest armchair he could find and groaned, feeling his body ache, trying to stop the shakes on his body from being wet with the cold wind.
"Are you okay?" Y/n asked, voice dripping with concern.
"Yeah. My back's killing me, and I think I'm going to have a cold."
"Take a hot shower, I'll grab you some medicine." She instantly put the phone down, marching towards the door, but was interrupted when Oscar held her wrist.
"Stay." The word came out murmured, a gentle plea, his eyes closed. "Please."
It was weird seeing him like that, so vulnerable, so desirous, it made your heart fumble when he opened those soft brown eyes. So you nodded.
"But you're gonna lie down and get warm. I don't want you sick."
He obliged, draggin himself -and you on the processes, because he couldn't let go of you- towards the improvised bed he had on his driver room.
"But what if-" Oscar began, starting to lie down. "I get sick so I can escape from the media duties?"
"Can you do that?"
"It's worth a shot."
You smiled, pulling a chair to be close to him still, to which he thanked with a smile.
Surely after, Oscar fell asleep. You know it wasn't ideal, but you stood by and watched him peacfully sleeping. He was so soft, so cat-like, so pretty.
Your heart ached with how much you liked him.
And maybe, even though he didn't knew, he was showing you how you two could be a match.
When he woke up, half an hour later, you weren't there already, but he found the medicine you said he needed with a small note that said "You snore like a cat purrs (take care), Y/n."
He smiled ear to ear, almost all of the fatigue gone. He folded the note and tucked it in one of the pockets of his bag, leaving to the unfortunate meeting with the media.
Later that day, as Y/n was getting to her hotel room when she noticed something hanging from the doorknob.
It was a keychain in the shape of a cat, with a small note that read "To remember me".
Y/n rolled her eyes, but with a small smile on her face, that turned into a shock expression the moment she saw the things attached to it: two tickets for the Kendrick Lamar concert.
"Oscar Jack Piastri, you little devil."
.
"How was the concert?" Oscar asked, a knowing smile on his lips.
Y/n smiled widely. It has been a couple of months since Oscar Piastri started pursuing you; you ended up knowing what he was up to when Lando commented that he was determined.
And dear God, he was.
And it moved you.
You don't remember ever someone putting this much effort for you. That alone, warranted some points on his advantage.
"It was good, I actually ended up meeting Snoop Dogg also and we talked a lot about West Side." You rambled, watching his eyes get lost, trying to search his brain for any information about any of the words you just said. "I'm just messing with you. It really meant a lot to me so, thank you."
"Anytime."
"You need a ride to the hotel?" He offered. "Think Lando's not going back any time soon."
You looked back to the door for the party, the music still so loud, lights flashing in different colors and you could almos feel the smell of alcohol even from this distance.
Usually, you'd be inside going crazy too, celebrating that the team you work for had finally won the Constructor's Championship after so many years not knowing what that feels like.
But you were tired. So you took Oscar's offer.
His car smelt new, even though he had this car for quite some time now, his cologne, a strong woody scent mixed with the fresh odor of the seats.
"So, how does it feel, huh?" You asked right after he started driving. "Constructor's champions."
"It's amazing." He answered, and you could feel the tiredness and happiness from his tone. "It's exactly that, a reward for all the hard work."
"Driver's championship next?"
"For me I hope so."
"Next season's gonna be amazing." You smiled, hiding the sadness. "I mean, five rookies on the grid, Hamilton at Ferrari, hopefully Max's downfall?"
"May God hear you, Y/n."
"This sport was missing some emotion." Oscar stared at you from the side of his eyes as you entered the highway, which was completely desert due to high hours of the night. "I mean, to you guys there's always emotion but that's because you're driving, to us just watching cars go around and no overtakes, no fun business is kinda boring."
A mischiveous glint shone on Oscar's eyes as he pushed the throttle pedal further and further with each word you said.
"Osc, what are you doing?"
"Just thought you'd like a piece of the emotion like we have." He opened the windows, a huge smile on.
The adrenaline rushed through your muscles, eyes blown wide as the velocity increased, starting to grip the seat as you laughed. Oscar was so normal about it he was even driving with only one hand on the wheel.
"Fuck it, Imma act like a dog."
Oscar laughed genuinely as you loosened the seatbelt and propped your head out of the window, the wind forcing your skin and giving you goosebumps.
You could barely breathe but that was a whole part of the fun.
"Oh my God this is amazing!"
"Emotion enough for you?"
"God, how are you guys so normal after every race?" You asked, sitting back down, heart beating so fast inside your chest. "I'd feel like I'm on the top of the world, honestly."
The song on the radio pushed your pulse to quicken even more. You opted for keeping your head inside to talk to Oscar, but one hand was out, dancing with the wind.
"God, I'm gonna miss this."
"What?!"
Shit.
He wasn't supposed to hear that, not yet.
You sighed, putting a hand on high thigh, feeling him tense up. "You can slow down now." He did, eyes constantly darting back to your hand, touching him. "The reason I was flying around with Lando and the team was because he wanted to give me new opportunities. And I got one in Italy, as a fashion designer. This is my last night working for McLaren."
Oscar couldn't believe what he was hearing, all his effort, all that he was dreaming for, to have you by his side every race just like this season but this time, as his partner.
He kind of thanked you for telling him to slow down, because his head was spinning.
"Italy is close to Monaco, no?"
"It's in Milan, a three hour drive." You answered, lightly caressing his thigh. "Lando already knew of that possibility, no one was supposed to get attached to me. I'm sorry, Osc."
He parked the car in front of the hotel, both hands now on the wheel as he was trying to calm down and grasp the reality of everything going on.
You were leaving.
He felt your hand lifting up from his pants and immediately grabbed it.
"I'm not giving you up."
"Osc-" "No."
"I didn't come this far just to lose you, not now."
"You're not losing me." He looked at you. "I'll just- I'll be in the country next door." You smiled tightly. "But it's okay if you don't want someone who can't accompany you, I get it."
"You'd wait for me?"
"What?"
Oscar blinked, his grip on your hand tightening, eyes intense as if he was begging.
"Wait for me, to be back from the races, wait for the breaks?"
"Osc that's thing long relationships go through, we don't know if it'd work and-"
He held your face. Gently, sweet, almost too sweet.
"We have until March. I want to try. I could never ask you to give up on something you want so bad, so that's why I'm asking you to not give up on us."
Us. That knocked all the air from your lungs.
"I can see it in your face. You want this just as badly as I do." Oscar's voice was low, sending shivers down your spine with the way he talked. "I already showed you how much of a match we can be, let me show you we can make this work."
You shouldn't, you really really shouldn't. If it all went south you didn't know if you could recover from him.
But it was hard to think when he was this close.
So you made a decision.
Even if it slipped away, it'd have claw marks from you. You were ready to try and keep him in your life with all your strength.
So you launched yourself forward, capturing his lips.
SMUT AHEAD - YOU'VE BEEN WARNED
His kiss was desperate, hands full on launching themselves at your body and holding you tight, as if you'd start to slip away right this moment.
"Osc! On the car?" You laughed, breaking the kiss, to which he immediately bent his head down to kiss your neck.
"Just this once." He was almost begging, trying to get you free from the seatbelt and into his lap. "I've wanted you for so long, love, please."
Too sweet? No, just the right amount.
You clicked your seatbelt and pushed it away, hopping onto his seat, back meeting the steering wheel, chest to chest, knees barely on the seat from how big his legs were.
The impression was that Oscar was ravenous, like a hungry man, devouring every inch of your skin he could, levaing behind a trace of his saliva and maybe some hickies, but neither of you cared.
His breathing was uneven, hands roaming your body like it was the curves of a circuit he needed to remember and dominate.
"Osc-" You hummed, feeling his hard-on pressing against you, dry humping it, pulling moans from both of you. "Fuck!"
"Didn't peg you as a tits guy." You laughed upon noticing both his hands lodged around your boobs, guiding you through them to ride his erection.
"I'm a Y/n guy, everything about you drives me insane." He confessed, moving his right hand to your ass, moving your body around his lap, feeling your thighs shake against his hips. "Love, please."
Your hands traveled down his chest, nails grazing his skin on top of the formal suit he had on. He looked like a prince, even though he was ready to fuck you like a soldier. Finally, your hands worked fast to take his belt off and open his pants.
His cock, finally freed from his underwear, was so hard already and leaking with pre-cum. You smeared it around as started playing with his tip, feeling his hips buck upwards.
You were looking at his face atently, seeing his expressions falter at your touch.
Oscar's eyes found your and they were dark like never before.
"You're such a fucking tease." He complained, stirring around, trying to feel more of your touch.
"Someone has to take the lead, huh?"
A spark flew past his eyes, hand moving up and grabbing a fistful of your hair, yanking it harshly.
"Osc!" You whined, head thrown back as his grip didn't loosen even slightly, sending a heat wave down your body, allodging itself in your pulsating core.
"Someone has to take the lead, right love?" He snapped back, a huge smile on his face as he watched you shake. "Enough with the teasing, pull your panties to the side and sink on my dick."
Fumbling with your hands, you found the slit of your dress and tucked your hand inside, founding the laced fabric that was already drenched, pulling it to the side.
Oscar helped you lodge on top of him, lining up your entrance and his lenght, one hand still holding you tightly by the hair and the other moving your ass around.
"Fuck, love!" He moaned as you started sitting on him, caressing your head, making you shiver and tighten even more. "When you feel it all inside you, you can take the lead back, m'kay?"
Your lips met each other's, drinking the moans away.
The further you sank on him, the more he sank on the driver's seat, feeling all the tension leave his body, finally feeling your insides.
Fully inside, he let go of your hair as he promised and allodged both hands on your hips, gripping you bot not forcing you to move.
"Think you're gonna last?" You asked, opening the buttons to his shirt, positioning both hans on each side of his chest.
He opened his eyes, the dark hungry was still there, much softer now, he looked drunk and so languidly happy. "We can leave the torture for the next times, can't we love?"
You wanted to tease him, and say maybe, that now the lead was back to your hands, you were going to make him last painfully, but you felt the tight knot on your low womb, and knew even you weren't going to last.
"Okay, Osc."
And you started to ride him, watching him give in and just become a moaning mess, still holding tight to your waist but completely gone.
"Fuck, love, you're- you're too good!"
You also didn't thought Oscar was going to be so talkative during sex, given his nonchalant ways, but when given pleasure he turned into a bubbling mess, talking nonsense.
"So good, so worth the wait." He mumbled, pulling you closer and moaning in your lips as you two kissed again. "You ride me so well." He kept going, as you started kissing his neck, wanting to hear more. "Don't stop, please don't stop, love."
His hands restored to gripping your waist and travelling up sometimes to carress your tits on top of your dress.
"You should be wearing less clothes, love, you're so pretty." He complained. "Are you close?"
"Mhmm."
"So am I. Cum with me, love." He groaned, voice too raw for his own good, messing around with your head. "Come on, baby." His hips started snapping up, meeting you halfway your ride.
A strained whine left your lips, hugging his shoulders and propping your head on your arms, launching your moans directly into his ear, pushing him further down his high.
"I'm- I'm gonna-"
Both your bodies started to shake and his big arms hugged you, pulling you closer, locking you in him as his cum spurted inside you, your knot finally snapping.
"You okay?" He asked a few moments later, feeling you go limp on top of him. "Still with me?"
"Shut it, Osc."
"Yeah, you're back."
You laughed, hugging him one last time before pulling up from him, immediately putting your panties back in place and returning to the passanger's seat as he zipped his pants back on.
He turned on the AC to clear the windows that became foggy from the heat irradiating from both of you.
You fixed your hair as much as you could, knowing it'd probably be ruined again when you went up to his hotel room. He offered you his blazer, to which you happily took and let it engulf you, hiding the hickied left on your neck.
He went around the car to open your door for you, helping you on your feet as he noticed your legs still shaking. He had that smug smile you got used to on the beggining of your flirting and it made you want to kiss him stupid.
"You think your plan of convincing me we're a match was 100% successfull?" You asked, crossing the hotel lobby still holding his arm, heading toward the elevator.
He leaned into you, voice just above a whisper, only for you to hear. "My cum is leaking out your pussy, you tell me."
You suffocated a smile, desperately pressing the button for the elevator.
SMUT ENDS HERE- WELCOME BACK!
.
"Okay so, I need to know." Lando asked, it was the day after the celebration, you were sharing a breakfast on the McLaren private jet with the rest of the crew.
You were sitting beside Oscar, Lando in front of you two, a little hungover but still curious.
"We're not telling you anything."
"You owe me this, I had to sit through one hour meeting with the pr team about not fucking in cars in the parking lot."
You choked a laugh, tecnically your contract with Lando was over, and you weren't a part of the McLaren anymore, so you got to sleep while Oscar and Lando had to be awake for a very stern lecture.
"Honestly, if you keep doing shit like this I'm gonna make you two pay for my therapy."
"Bill me, mate." Oscar snapped back, a huge smile on his face as he took one sip of a milk glass.
"Fuck you!" Lando answered immediately, shock written all over his face. "Honestly, I should've never put you two together."
"You didn't do shit." You retorted, throwing Lando even further down the insane hill.
He started to ramble about how he was the first matchmaker, how he handled you two talking about each other to him and it almost drove him insane, while you and Oscar just smiled.
You layed your head on Oscar's shoulder, sighing.
He was sweet, but never too sweet for you.
You breathed in his scent, a sharp woody masculine perfume that mixed perfectly with your sweet one. Exactly how you two were supposed to be, boldness in sweetness and sweetness in boldness, completing each other.
And whatever was going to happen to the both of you, you'd fight it, like he fought for you.

Tap! Tap!
Your dry and tired eyes lift from your textbook at the sound of knocking on the entry door to your fourman dorm. Despite needing the break, you groan. Probably one of your roommates forgot their key card again. You sigh as you pick yourself off the couch and open the door without checking the peephole.
“Oh, Ryuu!” You say as you’re greeted with a bright sharky grin. Your heart thuds in your chest at the unexpected visitor. Well, perhaps not so unexpected since it’s well known across campus that he’s hopelessly head over heels for your roommate, Kiyoko. You’re not even entirely sure on the ‘hopelessly’ part of that. You find him funny and cute, and his earnest persistence to woo the same girl is admirable - surely anyone who was around him long enough would feel the same. You just wish you could be the girl. However, somehow you ended up more of a friend and wingman to the man in the doorway.
“Here, I came to drop these off,” he declares as he piles a stuffed bear, a bouquet of flowers, and a heart-shaped box of chocolates in your arms. Ah, of course. You almost forgot it’s Valentine’s Day.
“Cool, I’ll put these in Kiyoko’s room for you,” you say as you start to back up, hoping you don’t sound as sour as you feel. The thought of all these cute little tokens of affection leaving your possession instills a black cloud looming over your head.
“Hm? Oh, no, they’re for you!” Ryuu exclaims with a smile that squeezes your heart every time you see it.
“Y- H- Wha-?” You sputter dumbly as you feel every pore on your skin start to prickle. Did you hear that correctly?
“You, uh, mentioned a while back that you’ve never gotten chocolate or flowers on Valentine’s Day, so I thought I’d be the first,” he explains as he rubs the back of his head, a bit nervous under your unreadable shocked stare.
Your eyes sting, but hopefully he doesn’t notice. You told him that last year, pretending not to care and that you were above such gestures, and really, you had convinced yourself of that. But it would be nice- No. It is nice.
You thank him with a wobbly smile and he looks more than pleased to catch you so off guard. Your eyes hold onto his for a moment, searching for an elaboration, but he’s quick to wave his hand casually and send himself off with that sharp grin that makes you want to incinerate any apprehensions about love.
“I’ll see you in class tomorrow! Happy Valentine’s Day!”
You give a tiny wave goodbye to him, and as soon as you close the door, you sink to the ground and hug your gifts tight to your chest while your heartbeat goes wild. After taking a few deep breaths, you make your way to your room. You place the cute brown bear on your bed, stick the flowers in a smoothie blender cup (because what college kid has a vase in their dorm), and hide the chocolates away in your desk drawer.
Maybe it’s because his crush on Kiyoko is so widely known, you feel the need not to draw any attention to the gifts. However, you still would send him newspaper style reviews of each chocolate as you ate them, and a picture of the flowers in their make-shift vase that makes him laugh. You really didn’t think you held a candle to Kiyoko, but maybe…. just maybe….

“Well, that was bad.”
You can barely resist the urge to roll your eyes. “Yeah, no shit. I can’t believe I talked all that shit just for us to lose. Horribly.”
Nekoma lost. Somehow, they managed to lose 25-12 in both sets. They didn’t need to play a third because of their loss in the first two. The whole team had walked to the locker room dejected, but Karasuno had practically skipped into theirs with delight.
Tetsuro leans against the wall, and you mirror his actions, crossing your arms over your chest. Just down the hall, you can faintly hear the song Sticky playing on a speaker, paired with a few voices screaming along to the lyrics. It makes you want to roll your eyes even more. Cocky sons of—
“It wasn’t that bad,” Tetsuro tries to argue, shrugging his shoulders. “Kenma had a few good sets. ‘Tora looked like he was working overtime. I bet he’ll feel that shit tomorrow.”
You don’t answer. Your eyes are trained on a poster in front of you, of the volleyball team. You take a few steps closer and scan the paper—not looking for Tanaka. But, your eyes do happen to land on him, and you don’t look away.
If you’re going to be honest, he looks stupid. His grin is too wide and his eyes are squinted shut and his chin is pointed up and his biceps aren’t even that big so you don’t know why he’s flexing and—
“Ramen? Again? Brother, you gotta get some real food in you, or you’re going to keel over and die. Seriously. I bet Saeko will make us some food tonight.”
It doesn’t sound familiar, but you know who it is. It doesn’t sound like how you pictured it to sound, but you know it’s Tanaka’s raspy voice bouncing off the walls.
And when you try to look in his direction, you can’t.
It’s like your feet are cemented to the ground, head stuck in one place. You’re not even staring at the poster anymore, just spacing off into the wall. You don’t know why you’re suddenly so nervous, but you hate it.
“Kuroo? Holy shit, no wa—” The voice cuts out and somehow you know his eyes are on you. “Well, well, well. What do we have here?”
The cringe that shoots through your body is enough to shake you from your nervous state. Your face scrunches up and you turn around to finally look at him. “What are you, an anime character?”
He opens his mouth, probably for some stupid retort, but his words die on his tongue. For a long, stretched out moment, he just stares at you.
Awkwardly, you clear your throat. “What? Do I have something on my face?” He shakes his head and you look away, nodding once. “Okay, cool.”
“Dude, you’re being lame as shit right now.” A whisper, a different voice. Tanaka makes a sound of pain and from your peripheral vision, you can see Nishinoya elbow him in the stomach. “Chrome the fuck up.”
Tanaka scoffs, but it kind of turns into a snicker. “So, uh,” he clears his throat, shifting his backpack on his shoulders, “what are we waiting for? Aren’t you guys coming to my house? For Saeko, or whatever?”
“Kenma,” you and Tetsuro say at the same time. You share a glance, then shake your head. “We’re waiting for Kenma,” you say. “He takes forever in the locker room.”
Tanaka nods, rocking on his heels awkwardly.
The situation almost makes you laugh. Tanaka was so brave over text, and now? He’s acting like a middle schooler. You have to look down at the ground so they don’t see the smile on your face.
Finally—finally—Kenma comes out of the locker room, bag slung over his shoulder, eyes glued to his phone. What an iPad kid.
“You’re such an iPad kid,” Tetsuro says, rolling his eyes. “We’ve been waiting for, like, fifteen minutes. How difficult is it to change clothes?”
“I’m a minor, please stop talking to me.” Kenma doesn’t even look up from his phone. You snicker slightly and bump his shoulder as he walks past. At that, he looks up. “Are we leaving, or what?”
“If by leaving you mean going to Tanaka’s, then yes.” You nod, then look over at Tanaka and smile. “Well? Lead the way.”
You don’t know how or why, but somehow you pick up two more kids on your way out: Hinata, Kenma’s orange-haired friend, and Kageyama, Hinata’s freakishly quiet friend. Though, you use the term friend loosely, because you don’t think they can really be friends when Kageyama looks at him like that.
And then, somehow, Tanaka convinces everyone to pile up into one car. Seven people in a five-seater car. Tanaka is driving, you’re sitting in the passenger seat, and Nishinoya and Hinata are sitting on the ground in the backseat, while the other three sit in the actual seats. It’s not safe, by any means, but it is fun when a good song starts playing and everyone starts belting the lyrics. They’re all yelling over each other, Tanaka can barely keep his eyes on the road, the two on the floor are complaining about their backs, Tetsuro keeps saying that they’re going to get pulled over, and you haven’t stopped laughing since you got in the car.
You keep glancing over at Tanaka, though not on purpose. It’s like there’s a string that keeps pulling you towards him, a feeling you’ve never felt before. He’s so . . . in his element. He’s making people laugh, surrounded by friends—this is what being truly confident in yourself looks like. And he has that right, to be 100% confident. Admittedly, you watched him on the court more than you watched your own team. There’s something so enticing about him. You couldn’t take your eyes off of him.
Eventually, you make it to his house. It’s a small house, but it’s nice. The inside isn’t decorated too much, but there are quite a few pictures hanging on the walls and sitting on various end tables and cabinets. Tanaka and his sister when they were younger, them and their dad at theme parks, school pictures—you can’t help but notice the lack of a mother in the pictures. You press your lips together and stop looking at them.
All of the boys pile into the house and it suddenly hits you that you’re hanging out with a bunch of teenage boys. You scrunch your nose up and quietly sigh. Where’s Saeko when you need her?
“Saeko! Your client is here!” Tanaka’s voice is much too loud for how close everyone is to him, but he doesn’t seem to care. When no one calls back to him, he takes a deep breath and shouts louder. “Saeko!”
The sound of a door crashing open echoes throughout the house, then stomps coming from further inside the house. You’re all still standing by the front door, talking about different things.
“What do you want, you little twerp?” A voice rings out. Saeko. You smile at the name calling. “I try to have a little peace and quiet while you’re gone and—“ she stops talking when she comes into view. “Oh.” She blinks a few times, taking in the teenagers in front of her. “Yeah, thanks for telling me we had guests, Ryuu.” She smiles sarcastically and you snicker. You love her already.
“Hi,” you say, bowing slightly. “I’m Y/n, it’s nice to meet you. Thank you for, uh, agreeing to pierce me? It was very nice of you—especially since it was such short notice.”
“Oh, I like you.” She smiles and hums. “Also, please don’t bow. I’m older than you, but I’m not old. Just treat me like a friend. Actually, we’re friends now. You can call me Sae. Come on, let’s get this shit set up.”
She turns on her heel and begins to walk the way she came from. You glance back at Tetsuro and raise your brows. He shakes his head and sighs dramatically. “Mom is so going to kill us,” he mumbles.
And then your eyes unconsciously flit to Tanaka. You’re half-surprised to see that he’s already looking at you, a small, crooked smile on his face. You can feel your face heat up and you look away. It’s so pathetic how he makes you feel. You follow Saeko’s footsteps, to where you think she went.
You find her in the bathroom, where a few piercing tools are laid out on the sink. You swallow hard upon seeing them.
“It’ll be fine,” Saeko reassures as she pulls on a pair of black medical gloves. She pops a bubble with the gum you didn’t know she was chewing. “You look like a tough cookie.”
There’s a stampede of footsteps down the hallway that stops right before the door. You turn around to find all the boys staring into the bathroom, eyes wide.
“Hey! Don’t you guys know what privacy is? Jesus, get outta here!” Saeko flails her arm in their direction and a few of them flinch.
“No, no. It’s okay!” You reassure, laughing a little. “They can stay, I don’t mind. But if they make fun of me for crying like a baby, will you kick their asses for me?”
She snickers, and nods. “Hell yeah.”
One of them audibly swallows and a wave of laughter rolls over the boys. You laugh too, glancing at Tanaka to see him smile. Jesus, you are so screwed.
“Okay.” Saeko claps her hands together and sighs quickly. “Can you sit on the counter for me? I have to sanitize your nose.”
You nod, not hesitating to hop up on the sink. She wipes your nose down with an alcohol wipe. It kind of burns, but you don’t say anything. She tells you that the instruments she’s using are sanitized, which is why they’re in a bag.
And then she puts a dot on your nostril, where she’s going to pierce. You look in the mirror, check the placement, and accidentally catch Tanaka’s eyes. He gives you a small, encouraging smile and it really does calm you down.
“Looks perfect,” you say to Saeko, smiling nervously. “In your professional opinion, how much will this hurt?”
“Not at all.” She shakes her head. That doesn’t really help much, though, because she has about thirteen visible piercings and you’re sure her pain tolerance is much higher than yours. She puts the clamp in place and raises her brows. “Ready?”
You glance to the doorway, where all the boys have worried looks on their face, and take a deep breath, letting your eyes fall shut. You keep them like that and say, “as I’ll ever be.”
The next few seconds seem to pass in slow motion. You can’t see anything, but you can sense her hand coming closer to your face. The needle touches your skin and you almost flinch, but resist. There’s a sharp pain and then—
“I’m gonna put in the jewelry now, ‘kay?”
There’s some more jostling of the clamp and then something else slides into place. The clamp leaves your nose and then you can no longer feel her hands by your face.
Slowly, you peel your eyes open. Saeko is smiling at you, wide and almost unhinged. “All done,” she says. “Take a look.”
You turn around and look in the mirror once again, the blue dot now replaced by a stud. There’s redness, but no blood. You turn your head a little, looking at it from the side and from the front. It looks good—you look good.
A small giggle escapes your mouth and you smile, wider than ever. “Oh my god,” you mumble. You turn back to Saeko and laugh. “My mom is going to kill me.”
“You look so cute, though,” she shakes her head, pressing her lips together. “Maybe if you wear a Kakashi-style mask, she won’t notice.”
“A sheisty, if you will.” It’s the first time Tanaka has spoken in a while, but his comment gets a giggle out of you and makes him smile. God, that stupid, stupid smile.
“If you will,” Nishinoya repeats, doubling over in laughter. Was it really that funny? His laugh is weird and loud and so ridiculous that everyone else starts laughing. When you laugh with them, you feel like you’re where you belong.
“Okay, who’s hungry?” Saeko asks, halting the laughter of everyone. Simultaneously, everyone’s hands shoot up in the air. “Right. I’m cooking for a small army, got it.”
The food Saeko makes is ridiculously good. The boys practically eat the Tanaka’s out of house and home with how much they consume. The table is completely full, more laughter filling the house.
You belatedly realize that Tanaka is really funny. You also realize that, yeah, you like him. And it’s not some huge moment, where time slows down and a romantic song plays in the background.
You realize it as he looks at you, smiling, and you snort out a laugh when you spot some food stuck in his braces.
“What? What’s so funny? I didn’t even say anything.”
“You have—” you can’t even finish your sentence. You gesture to your mouth, hoping he gets the hint, but he just tilts his head. “There’s— oh my god.”
He laughs too, but it sounds more confused than yours. “You’re starting to freak me out, Y/n. What are you laughing at?”
“There’s food in your braces!” You finally manage to say. You have to set down your bowl so you don’t spill anything—that’s how hard you’re laughing.
His face turns bright red and he moves so fast that he spills his bowl of food all over his lap. He stands up quickly, hissing at how hot it is. And, of course, that only makes you laugh harder.
And then it hits you. You like this kid. You like his stupid jokes and his stupid smile and his stupid braces and the stupid way he moves on the court and the stupid way he’s able to make you laugh so easily.
You are so astronomically fucked.

What started as a warm-up sketch, turned into a set of lovingly-crafted nanobangs. I miss those silver bangs of his!
thinkin' about growing up and joining Ghosts with Keegan... grr
childhood friend!Keegan who you grew up with, hanging out with him after class and at your shared extracurriculars with, sitting in the back of your parents' car talking about anything and everything
childhood friend!Keegan who brought you to freshman year homecoming and junior year prom, photos of the two of you and matching corsages and outfits, final photo of your two families being a picture of the two of you in your military uniforms.
childhood friend!Keegan who returns home in between deployments with you, shared car driven from the airport as he drops you off before heading home himself. Eventually your parents just host dinner at one house so you both get a lighter trip
sergeant!Keegan who hates that somehow you've made your way into the Ghosts unit with him, pretty much attempting to shake you up at any chance to discourage you from continuing along, but it proves useless when you get promoted to Sergeant instead, sticking your tongue and middle finger out at him
sergeant!Keegan who's caught getting coffee with you in the morning, your back against the railing as he leans over it, staring down at the new recruits running. The base makes it the talk of the month until they realize the two of you don't give the reaction wanted
sergeant!Keegan who gets scared shitless whenever you get injured out on a mission and vice versa, the two of you always with the other at the medical facilities, string of scolding words given as you nurse each other back to health. The unit tries to make sure neither of you get hurt so both of you can go out on the field
sergeant!Keegan who unwinds when possible with you, wind in his hair as you let in a little air through the window of the room, sitting down on his bed as you throw your head back and just lay on the ground.
"Nearly got yourself killed out there, kid."
"It's fine." You exhale. "I'm alive and unscathed. That's all that matters."
"Debrief was hell."
"Always is." You stare up at him, humming. "Gonna kick me out tonight?"
"No, but floor's dirty."
"You mop yours." You yawn, closing your eyes as you do.
Keegan shuffles and lays down next to you, staring at the ceiling as he blinks once and then twice.
"Should get us a bigger room."
"Should get us a room." You hum. "Lie to their asses or get to the nearest government office."
"Who said I'm gonna marry you?"
"Your lack of game." You yawn again, sighing. "If you won't marry me, then I'll just go find Logan. Sure he'd love to get under your skin and start calling me his wife."
"He'd never let me live it down."
"Neither would I."
