Thank you so much for explaining (and all the links)! honestly I'd appreciate a summary on each member, if you don't mind of course
alrighty, this is gonna be a long one. in total, hbg(house builder gang) has about 30 active members, and im gonna be using 'proper' capitalization and formatting and shit to hopefully make it easier on the eyes. also, i'll put a link to their namemc profile in the names(bolded) so you can look at their skins!
Couriway(he/him): Couriway has held the 1.14 world record, as well as the 1.16 world record. His 1.16 record started the 'pigface' joke due to him incorrectly identifying a bastion. His chat, referred to as 'Couri chat' is known for being extremely annoying in a very funny way. He says 'dude' a lot and is usually PG.
Tapl(he/him): Tapl is in HBG! He's a mcyter known for various different types of content- Hypixel, MCC, challenge videos, and more recently he's taken up speedrunning. He's longtime friends with Illumina, though most other members he's only met recently. Tapl usually speedruns for fun and content rather than competitively, but his mechanics are very good and he has a respectable 17:xx.
Reignex(he/him): Reignex was a relatively unknown speedrunner up until January, when he got the 1.16 rsg record. Now, he’s loved for his incredible playlist as well as his gamer skills. He’s particularly good at running bastions, and will often spend hours on stream just practicing before he even starts running.
K4yfour(he/they): K4′s name is pronounced ‘Kay Four’, though people will sometimes jokingly refer to them as ‘Kay Four Why Four’. He was one of the first speedrunners to fully commit to ocean and bastion strategies, and he’s made important contributions to the 1.16 meta. He also lives in New Zealand, and only streams at like 2 am in my time. It’s sad.
Marcus Fireworkss(he/him): Marcus’s Minecraft ign is Fireworkss, but literally everyone just calls him by his name. He has some really cracked times that have kinda flown under the radar, he totally deserves more love. Lately he’s been on the HBG SMP, where currently I believe he’s allied with Raddles.
21Mustard(he/him): Mustard is super funny and honestly underrated. He’s a cracked runner, though he’s been scammed out of a sub 15 several times. He hasn’t really had any monumental runs yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets one. Also, Feinberg stole and popularized using the word ‘inspirational’ from him.
Hary0tt(he/them): Hary0tt was the first runner to ever hit 100k resets! Although he’s recently taken a break from speedrunning due to personal reasons, they’re a huge grinder. Also, I didn’t actually know that he uses they/them pronouns, but that’s what they have in their twitter bio, so that’s cool. Also, he is British.
nEmerald(he/him): Emerald is one of the newer members of HBG, and is a former FSG world record holder. He has a top five time in 1.16 rsg, and is currently one of the people grinding for sub-five in FSG.
Ninjabrain(he/him): Ninjabrain is known for revolutionizing hard resetting as well as his treasure bastion route known as ‘Ninjabrain Route’ which was used by Illumina in his former world record. A few months ago, he was by far the most diligent at resetting and was one of the first runners to start using multi-instance. He’s Swedish.
Silverr(he/him): Silver achieved the pre-1.9 rsg world record back in March of this year, and he also plays 1.16 rsg. Alongside Feinberg and Reignex, he won the Relay Cup Tournament, where he was their 1.7 runner.
Zylenox(he/him): Zylenox held the 1.16 rsg world record earlier this year- kinda. His run ended up being officially tied with Reignex due to pausing and math shenanigans, though in my opinion the run was absolutely world record. Other than that, he makes some really entertaining YouTube content, and used to make SkyBlock and Geometry Dash videos.
Switch(he/him): Switch actually just joined HBG a few days ago(August 6th). I’m going to be honest and admit that I don’t know too much about him, but I’ve watched some of his streams and he seems like a really chill dude. He talks about food pretty often, and is friends with BoomerNA.
Feinberg(he/him): Feinberg first started speedrunning at around October of last year, and has very quickly become one of the best ever. He’s actually insane. If you’re going to watch a tournament and he’s in it, 90% of the time he’s going to win by a landslide or turbo-throw. He’s incredibly smart, and really shines at decision-making and mechanics. His streams are often very high-energy, and he makes hours of resetting genuinely entertaining.
Dylqn(he/him): Dylqn is a super chill runner with some really good times, I’d say he’s casually cracked. He’s very calm in his solo streams, and when he’s in voice call with other runners his sense of humor really shines. His IRL face reminds me of a trucker, not sure why, he just does.
Fyroah(he/him): Fyroah is 17, and he’s done a lot of really cool work for the speedrun community. He created magma ravine portals, blaze-bedding, and several different bastion routes. For a while it was a meme that his pb was really bad, but he’s got a sub 15 now so it’s all good. Recently one of his YouTube videos went semi-viral(~1 millionish views)
Illumina(he/him): Illumina has been speedrunning since 2013, is a former moderator, and has held world record in literally every major category. In 2019 and 2020, he represented Minecraft for SGDQ(a massive global speedrun event). For a long time, he was the only top no F3 runner, but recently he’s switched over to using it as F3 has become a necessity for 1.16. @oceantail-oceantail has a really cool posts going over fun facts about him, though I couldn’t find it when I looked.
Korbanoes(he/him): Korb has held the 1.16 world record, and currently holds the 1.9-1.15 world record, which he achieved after several months of hard grinding. He was the first person to ever achieve a sub-hour time in combined rsg. He’s dealt with some bullshit accusations regarding the legitimacy of his runs, but he’s really just a great runner, and he’s also 17.
Geosquare(he/him): Geo is a former head moderator, has been in the community for years, and has made countless contributions to Minecraft speedrunning. Alongside Mathew Bolan he helped to develop the one-cycle(a fast and consistent way of killing the Ender Dragon). He doesn’t really stream or upload very often, so it’s a treat when he does.
PeteZahHutt(he/him): Pete’s taken a break from speedrunning for the past few months due to a case of RSI(Repetitive Strain Injury) though he’s a very good 1.14 classic and 1.16 runner. Lately he’s been doing Vault Hunters SMP, and he’s also known as the best MCC player in the event.
Karl Jobst(he/him): Jobst has been speedrunning various games for literal decades. Though he hasn’t actually done much Minecraft speedrunning, he stays up to date with the community and is a highly-regarded figure.
Fruitberries(he/him): Fruit doesn’t speedrun all that much, though he’s done some pre 1.9 ssg and is the former Stack of Lime Wool set seed glitchless world record holder. He’s also participated in several tournaments, and is roommates with Illumina. His mechanics are genuinely insane and he’s definitely the best pvper in HBG.
Raddles(she/her): Raddles formerly held the 1.16+ ssg world record, and also she is a catgirl. She’s pastel purple, good at the game, and her streams are always very cozy.
Dav1e(he/him): Davie is the current FSG world record holder, and is also one of the people grinding to get the first sub 5 in that category. He predicted the first sub ten, and is generally a pretty entertaining dude. Also, he was the first person to ever get a sub-8 blind.
Tekniik(he/him): Tekniik is so underrated, I love his streams. Fun fact, he’s bilingual, won Speedrun Showdown with Feinberg, and spends a lot of time on stream practicing nether portals. He doesn’t have a sub 15 yet but I believe. (Update: He got a 12:40)
Fulham(he/him): Fulham is British, and also organizes and hosts my beloved HBG Jackbox streams. He’s an amazing commentator during tournaments and his team made second place during Relay Cup. After blinding into the stronghold, and needing to find the library for beds, Fulham has become an outspoken advocate for frontloading wood.
Nerdi(he/him): Nerdi owns the HBG discord server, and organized Speedrun Showdown, my favorite speedrun tournament by far. He gets memed on a lot for being not the best at mechanics and decision-making but he’s actually a great runner and really cool guy.
EleventyBillion(he/him): Eleventy doesn’t have a twitter, nor does he stream very often. Still, when I do watch him he has some quality streams, also I believe he’s developed a few bastion routes and other speedrun tech.
SmallAnt(he/him): SmallAnt is was the newest member to HBG, though he's been speedrunning Minecraft for quite a few months now and even participated in Speedrun Showdown back in January/February of this year. Outside of MCSR, he's also speedran Legend of Zelda and makes challenge videos for Mario and Pokemon.
Draconix(he/they): Draconix is from New Zealand, and was the fastest person to beat Fundy's Impossible Difficulty mod- in 36 minutes! They like to stream exclusively when I'm asleep, but other than that he seems lovely.
Punz(he/him): Punz is a member of the Dream SMP, has a pb of 19:26, and is an MCC participant with 1 win and 3 dodgebolt appearances. He also made semi-finals of Speedrun Showdown with Antfrost! People have been hoping for Punz to join HBG for a long time, so we're all really excited to have him here.
