Found this article on the Brazilian painter Fábio Magalhães' hyperealistic oil paintings from his collection called Between Life and Death; I think they are very beautiful. I'll put just a couple of his works here but all of them can be found in the article that I've linked along with an interview.

"When I use my imagination to create what we could call metaphors of a body-image, I believe it deals with strategies that I use to bring the private universe and common sense closer to human nature.
