Black-Crowned Night Herons, as their name suggests, are mainly nocturnal, feeding at night or in the early morning. When hunting, they stand still at the water's edge, waiting to ambush prey, which includes a wide variety of aquatic and non-aquatic creatures. They are one of several heron species to have been observed engaging in 'fish baiting', tossing objects into the water to distract fish and striking when they get close.
The most recent bird buddy visitor: a female northern cardinal!
Such kind eyes! A gopher tortoise at the Cruickshank Sanctuary in Rockledge, FL.
Silhouette of a belted kingfisher. We’ve seen the seemingly same female kingfisher several times in the same location along the drive, I love seeing her each time!

Cedar waxwings congregated in the pine tree before diving down to the berries.
The snowy egrets were out in abundance and the water was calm enough to allow for some lovely reflections.

A rush at the buffet today! Two cardinals showed up at the same time! How nice!
Serenading the morning before hitting up the bird buddy for some snacks.
The suet feeder attachment arrived and then both cardinals had to check it out!
