Q: A lot of people are saying The Black Paladins is their favorite episode of all of them.

JH: It deserves to be. You know probably why is cause it’s like… you know their emotional deep connection and they’ve been best friends and you know, mentor, and it’s not like just defeating some random bad guy. There’s so much more wrapped up in it. So yeah. That makes sense.

Q: So a lot of people were asking, he says “you’re my brother.” A lot of people were saying is that literal brother or is that just a you know, brotherly figure?

JH: It’s–a lot of the time the words don’t matter, it’s like the way you say it. You know what I mean? It’s like, he says you’re my brother, you know, and when he does eventually say “I love you,” those words matter. It’s like “you know you’re my brother, you’re everything to me.” You know, that brotherly love. So it’s hard for him. But no, literally? I hope I’m not spoiling anything, but no.

Q: [laughing] Literally I don’t think they could be related.

JH: [laughing] No.

“I want to say that that shot where the only two lions that you see kind of outside of the lions are the Black and the Red, and I just, I love those two shots where you’re looking outside through the Red and you see Keith and then you see the Black Lion in the background, and you’re looking at Shiro and you see the Red.”

if you’re a sheith shipper and you want to think about the “i love you” line without also thinking about the “you’re my brother” line, that’s okay and ily. the brother line in no way should discourage you from shipping sheith, and it doesn’t devalue their relationship in any way, but it’s understandable if you feel uncomfortable about it for any reason, especially because it’s going to be considerable anti fodder until the s6 hype dies down. 

if you’re a sheith shipper and you want to think about the “i love you” line in relation to the “you’re my brother” line, that’s also okay and ily too. the line is a testament to how close they are, and context matters. keith is telling shiro how much he values him in a moment where shiro is vulnerable and obviously not acting like himself. it’s objectively a beautiful moment. it’s the strongest and most explicit declaration of love in the entire series, and it’s even more powerful considering it comes from keith who tends to struggle with vocalizing his emotions.

at the end of the day, do whatever makes you the most comfortable, but keith loves shiro. that’s not up for debate in any way, shape, or form. it’s a good night for all of us sheith shippers thank you very much.

Know what moves me to tears? Remember what Keith said in his vlog?

“I don’t know why I’m that way, maybe I’m naturally untrusting because my mom left, so instead of accepting people into my life, I push them before they reject me.”

And yet…there was one person he never truly pushed away.

And even after he found out about Shiro’s disease, he still let Shiro in enough that he sabotaged his future when PILOT ERROR happened and left to live BY HIMSELF in the desert because of Shiro’s disappearance.

And Shiro?

The man just got his heart broken by one of the most important people in his life, and he decided to bring Keith to the launch.

Like…that hits super hard for me. No matter what, they are there for each other. They have each other’s backs through thick and thin, life and death. And that’s just so heartwarming.
