Marshall Fields! How I love the memory of my Mom taking me there on the train from Indiana to shop. It's truly a landmark. I still am in awe when I go there even though it is now Macy's.

I did it, again! I missed a prompting to get in touch with someone who is very dear to me.
To start, my favorite doll as a child was the Dennis-the-Menace doll. Here's a picture for those of you not familiar with this character:
For some reason, I had to have this doll when I saw him in a drug store while shopping with my mom. I ended up having 3 of them over a period of time. (As fate would have it, my husband's brother's name is Dennis. AND, we named our son after his uncle!!)
I attended a Catholic elementary school in Indiana and was taught by nuns in full habit. My fourth grade teacher, Sister Demetria, was my favorite. I must have been quite obsessed with my Dennis-the-Menace doll because Sister Demetria gave me a report card for him!! (This reminds me that I need to go through some paperwork to see if I still have the card) I never forgot this act of kindness, creativity and generosity!
I had been in contact with Sister Demetria in the past few years and discovered her new name, Sister Marilyn Reiser. We had some fun and engaging conversations via e-mail. I eventually lost contact yet had been thinking about her in the past few months. My "to-do list" consisted of re-connecting with her.
Sadly, I learned that Sister Marilyn passed away on August 11, 2012. My best friend from elementary school and I agreed that "Sister Demetria" went straight to Heaven!!
I’m not going to get too upset at myself for not contacting her before she died - I’m human. No excuse but it’s the best one I have for now. I would like for you to think about my story. Hopefully, you will not let those promptings that you experience slip away.

I took my oldest GrandAngel to see this on Broadway with Bernadette Peters. We both fell in love with her! She was so gracious to her fans after the production.
On Saturday, May 25, I created a mandala (a mandala is an integrated structure organized around a unifying center) at an art studio called The Drawing Board. The picture shows what I've started. The white represents hope; the yellow represents joy. During the summer, my four GrandAngels will fill in each of the four sections with their choice of beads or another object in their favorite color.
You'll notice a glass of wine in the picture. The class at the studio was called "Wine and Art". I was there with a group of friends. We had so much fun gabbing and being creative! Wouldn't it be fun for a married couple on a date, a mom and a daughter, sisters or anyone in between to create a piece of artwork together?

Maria Sibylla Merian and her daughters were pioneers of natural history illustration and entomology. Among other achievements, at age 52 Maria Sibylla sold most of her belongings and set sail for the Dutch colony of Suriname. That was in 1699.
