Ok, do you know how much I love the idea of Bruce and Hal being married before Hal becomes Green Lantern? BECAUSE I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! I've literally thought about secret batlantern marriages FOREVER. Because of that, I apologize in advance for the long message. šā¤ļø
Ok, but imagine bringing the kids into the family..... Since Hal is gone for like a month or two on assignment I feel like Brice would just see Dick, and with no one there to stop him, he'd just say "mine" and like forget to tell Hal (or "forget" cuz he's scared Hal would say no) and then Hal comes home and sees Dick and is like. Who tf are you? Like where did you come from? How did you get into my house? And then Dick would just be excited to meet Hal, cause you CAN NOT tell me that Bruce wouldn't gush like a school girl with a crush about Hal (when he's prompted correctly). And thus begins the adoptions that just happen when Hal is on month long assignments.
He comes back from space tired, ready to lay down and just be with family, and boom Jason. Then he finds out Bruce is like the worst at communicating when someone's not there to interpret for him. (The relationship between Bruce and Dick is slowly healed by Hal literally just saying, "That 'hm' means he was worried, that running off to fight thugs in dark alleys ALONE and WITHOUT A COMMUNICATOR really worried him and him sewing a tracker into your suit isn't fully about control, it's really more about needing to find you if that happens again. WHICH IT SHOULD NOT!") Hal would be able to bond with Jason over losing one parent and then it's like the other fell apart. (Obviously they had VERY different upbringings, Jason lived on the streets and Hal had shelter and a kinda support system (idk I think that since Hal was really close to his dad and looked more like him (?) His mom like could not stand to really be around him. But she still loved him, like they just really had a complicated relationship, but then he told him family he wanted to join the air force and suddenly it was like the support system and shelter and love that had been there dried up and he went through the airforce and the everything alonr until he met Bruce.) Anyway, I think that he'd have a pretty good relationship with both Dick and Jason. And that in one of the months where a galaxy ending disaster wasn't happening would be when Jason finds out about Shelia and the whole trust fallout between Bruce and Jason happened. So once again Hal plays the mediator once again and before he's called away again, Jason takes Bruce to Ethiopia with him. (Hal isn't there for the fallout, for the injuries that Jason sustained. He's not even able to be contacted due to how far out he's had to go. It takes him 2 months to come home.)
He returns, and Tim's there. Tim who is apparently not adopted yet, as he is Jason's new friend. He finds his son with randome child #3 in his house helping Jason up the stairs. Jason who has a thick cast on his leg and a cast on his arm with bandages peaking out from his collar. (I think Hal would have like a beak down with Bruce about not being there. Like he has a ring. He was called away a day before everything went down, and he could have prevented the almost crippling of his child, he could have supported his husband and children as they all basically came to the realization that no matter who they fight, how they fight, who they fight with no one really lives forever.) Hal takes leave from the Coorps as long as he can, going back to work for Ferris Air (or Wayne Enterprise's airplane engineering department whatever you want). They slowly pull Tim into the family, learning more and more about the neglect and abuse he's lived through. After a lot, a LOT of lawyer fees, Tim is able to stay with the Waynes permanently. But like all good things, Hals time with his family comes to an end. He returns to space this time with a transmitter that can cover the distance of the universe if it needs to.
Hal's return to the family for the next couple years are uneventful. Until Damians arrival. Damian who begins his life at Wayne Manor with the attempted murder of Tim. And another attempted murder of Tim. And another attempted murder of Tim. A kinda attempted murder of Dick, but one could argue he was just being annoying. Hal's return to the Manor brings the order that they had been lacking. (I kinda think that since Hal grew up in a military household he's a stricter parent. Like he'd definitely be a duper fun parent, take the kids out on adventures and have a great time with them when he can/could but there would be rules that he like 100% would not let up on. Like patrol on a school night ends at 11:30 and if not they're grounded from patrol for the next two nights. Bruce would probably be strict too, but more so in the field. Like the kids could look at him and call him dad and he would break like a piece of angel hair spaghetti.) Anyway, Hal would be able to support Bruce through the idea and fact that he'd been raped. I think Hal and Bruce would have separately gone through a LOT of therapy and like couples therapy too. Not just sprung on by the arrival of Damian, but because Hal had kind of forced Bruce into it after his overprotective nature had pushed Dick away. It might have started as a way to learn better communication, but it ended in Bruce staying with his doctor at Hal's recommendation. (read: Hal noticed Bruce's better regulation of feelings and coping mechanisms and forced him to continue to go to therapy.) Anyway, I think Hal would have a good relationship with Damian, against all the odds. Hal would be the structured support and rules that Damian had grew up with and had been missing since coming to Wayne Manor. Leaving after Damian was a difficult trip. But staying wasn't an option, his departure was just as hard as all the others.
Cass' addition to the family would've taken Hal off guard, if he hadn't been informed. (Communication coming in clutch!) In meeting Hal, Cass had not trusted him. He held himself too wrong, too ridged, too frozen, too similar to her father. Her fear and suspicion had melted away the moment she saw him with Bruce and the other children. His eyes lit up, and his previous tension relaxed. It was in that moment that she knew she what she wanted. Cass and Tim almost immediately became inseparable. The ride or die kind of relationship that they shared led their siblings and parents alike to fear the combined power. Hal's rules practically doubled when they were together, should they plan or go for world domination, Bruce would be the one to deal with it.
As for Bruce and Hal's relationship. I think in the beginning they were very secretive. Bruce had suddenly returned to Gotham and subsequent take over of Wayne Enterprises had Bruce trying to keep the little privacy he had left under wraps. Hal had agreed wholeheartedly to keep the relationship a secret, knowing that once the news eventually reached his family there would be no more quietly whispered scheduled calls between himself and his brothers. No more sporadic text messages between him and his mother. No more shreds of the family he had clung to since being kicked out at 18. Over time, as more and more kids came into their lives the secritiveness of their relationship became too much to keep up with, it wasn't secret secret anymore, however it was a very private relationship. No one in Gotham/media knew they were together, however they weren't actively hiding it anymore. They just didn't advertise that they were together. As for the Justice League, Batman never joined. The Green Lanturns involvement in a organization of superheros was practically informed when the Coorps inevitably found out about it, however, Bruce never found it to be necessary to involve himself in the League, excluding large scale events where he and the rest of the family would make themselves known.
I think in the inevitably that they are found out, the news would break to the media first. A mistyped photo catching them kissing just outside of the gates of the manor or in a coffee shop on the edge of the Diamond District and suddenly the gossip rags of the city, and the major news conglomerates of the surrounding cities are blasting the news of Brucie Wayne's new relationship! With the subsequent findings of Bruce Wayne's new boy toy (suddenly found out to be HUSBAND!) Hal Jordan, a decorated Air Force veteran now working as a test pilot, while not in active duty, still working to preserve the lives of his friends and family. With his reveal to the public, Hal's relationship is revealed to the Justice League. And thus, the integration of the Batfamily into the Justice League begins.
Ok!!! So that was really long. Wayyyyy longer than I thought, but thank you for letting me share!!!! Anything I'm missing or you want to add would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for sharing their secret marriage, because I'm not going to lie, I've literally been thinking about this forever!!! Ok have a great day, thank you again!
Hi omg every concept you mentioned here is so interesting! I zoomed in so hard on "Jason lives" aspect especially, Iām so intrigued. I can totally see the āa death in the familyā storyline having a different outcome if the family dynamic was different, but the sheer pain potential of Hal considering Jason a son and returning from space only to find out he died months ago⦠oh my god⦠(maybe Iām writing something about that very premise. Who knows.) Hal doesnāt play favourites doesnāt play favourites of course, butĀ like you said there is definitely an unspoken bond between Jason and Hal.Ā Ā
I also understand surprisingly strict parent Hal, but I can totally see it in a more āYou guys need to have regular lives outside of vigilante stuff and I am going to set some rules so that you can have that because we know Mr. Bat Suit over here doesnāt know what that even means.ā so he takes them to sports games and movies and makes sure they have their homework done. āPlease go and hang out with your friends or youāre grounded.ā āWhat.ā āHere I will literally give you money, just go to the mall and donāt fight anyone.ā
And OH BOY. Damian. Letās be real, Damian probably would have tried to kill Hal too if he was there when he arrived. What a mess that would be, Hal stay in space for a second dude. But anyways Hal and Damianās dynamic is one of my faves to read fics about, I love the idea of Damian (post murder attempts) adoring Hal. Again, Hal would try his hardest to give Damian a normal childhood. I would also really like to see a fic where Bruce worked through what happened to him and how it resulted in a son and the very complex feelings that come with that.
Also? The concept of the bat family not joining the justice league but being Halās back up is so funny. Messing with the Green Lantern and expecting him to call the corps but no, his back up is a bunch of over protective bats. Good luck!
I miss them, my kids
This is like a story concept written out for a Spider-Man Batfam crossover fic I don't have the time to write fully. This is more developed than a prompt but, still is thought I'd share and maybe you guys will enjoy it and/or somebody will pick it up and develop it into a fully fledged fic. So here it goes-
A more spidery Spider-Man is dropped into a DC universe right into Gotham. It's the beginning of fall in Gotham which is a problem for a Spider seeing as he is stranded in another universe with nothing but his Spidey suit and his AI companion. He has no access to the synthesized hormone cocktail he's been taking in the winter to keep him from going into hibernation. Now Peter could get together the stuff to synthesize the medication but, he need a stable place to set up a running lab to make it as he'd need it fresh and take it on the regular. That is a lot of work and resources he'd have to come up with and maintain. Also he is a depressed boi and a long nap actually sound really good. So instead of trying to set up a lab he starts Operation Nest. He is going to find a small enclosed space and prepare it for his long winters nest.
Peter also decides pretty quickly with all the crazy dangers of Gotham and all the warnings of what Karen was able to find after connecting to this world's version of the Internet to keep the suit on and just be Spider-Man full time. The suit would keep him safe from chemical attacks and the overall pollution of Gotham as well as keep him anonymous in the very likey event he has to use his powers to defend himself. Which will let him keep a nice civilian identity that Karen crafted come spring if he chooses to.
Peter's first two objectives in Operation Nest are to get money and find a location. The first Karen helps him with easily setting up a company, then filing and selling some benign patents, since this world is really behind in tech. She also helps him get more immediate cash without crossing into stealing just by doing online commissions for simple tech support type things while the patent money is still pending. Peter gets a laptop that he uses to help with some of the tech work even though Karen can literally do five jobs at once under several fake IDs she made herself.
Most of the day for Peter however is spent looking for real estate. Which is harder in Gotham than one might think considering the rival gangs, rival super villains constantly blowing up things, and all the homeless fighting over whatever is left of the abandoned buildings. The only good thing about all this is a giant spider nest will go relatively unnoticed amongst all the other craziness. Peter's adventures running all over Gotham trying to find a place to hunker down for a couple of months cause him to run into all sorts of characters.
Peter is in a weirdly apathetic state towards himself with all his trauma so he saves people obviously, and is still empathic, maybe more so with trying to get the villians to be better people and just talking with them like real people but, he is really basley about his own safety. He has already lost everyone he cares about and he's faced down Thanos, so none of the villians at this point faze him. He doesn't see them as a threat to himself. He ends up making a bunch of friends with villains by continuing what May believed in, what Ben believed in, and helps the villains out so they can hopefully make a change.
The bats hear about him and decide to investigate but all of them get terrible first impressions and they assume he's a villain or going to be one if they don't find him. Peter is OP and scary. He's not given up his friendly neighborhood spider-man but he has stopped trying as hard to look human type of friendly. He just has slow given into being a spider and is creepy. He also leaves spider webs everywhere, since his natural ones don't dissolve like the artificial ones that he uses sparingly. This also freaks them out and there is debate on whether what they are hunting is a meta human or an intelligent spider creature. Also at least one bat at the beginning runs into one of the webs and at least one gets temporarily stuck to a criminal they are trying to free from a cocoon
By the time the bats find Spider-Man they are all convinced that he's a villain plotting something big but really they've just been stalking Peter as he completes his to do list for Operation Nest. All the dangerous equipment and suspicious purchases from villains were really to get his nest set up. Peter knew his friends had some of the stuff he needed like a cytogenetic freezer to keep some of his food from spoiling over the course of a few months since he doesn't want anyone making deliveries to his house while he's hibernating. His friends were happy to help although he still paid them despite their insistence not to.
Karen thinks it's hilarious. Although they acknowledge itd be better to just explain the situation to the bats before Peter is in active hibernation and let them find them. They totally ruin their bust by opening the doors of a small dilapidated old tailors shop in the fashion district, where Peter had set up his nest in the basement. Peter isn't happy with them feeling very territorial. He wants them not to touch anything as he shows them into his nest. He warns them and they are a bit freaked out when he hisses at them when they inevitably ignore he's instructions out of curiosity but then settle a bit when they notice how tired he is. Cass probably gets them to back off. He explains things enough so they leave him to his hibernation with the promise of hanging out in the spring.
Or alternatively. Karen is too busy setting things up she doesn't notice with her smaller processing power disconnected from Stark Tech as she is to notice the Bats noticing them. Then she is being wired into the Nest when they start getting close so, she doesn't know they are closing in. Then she is doing system checks to make sure she is able to monitor Peter when he's hibernating and can use the machines and mechanical arms to help Peter for the parts of his hibernation he will be awake or partially awake to handle his bodily needs before cocooning back into his Nest made of his natural webs and blankets.
Karen doesn't know they are there until they break her perimeter alarms and she is forced to use her defensive measures since Peter has just gone into hibernation like a day ago. The bats having more resources than Karen at their disposal and coming at her from all angles breach her defenses and get into The Nest. Karen does her best to rouse Peter with alarms blaring but she is only able to get him into a semi state of consciousness. Not enough to move him without drugging him which would be dangerous for his health and with so many coming for her charge she does her best to throw her mechanically arms in front of him to guard him where he is.
The bats once they see a sleepy confused Peter with a strange woman's voice begging them to leave him alone they feel bad realizing they judged him wrong. Especially after seeing him adorably yawn with his fangs popping out.
! LONG POST !
Finally got around to jotting down my thoughts on the weird way that Dick Grayson (Nightwing) often occupies female-coded roles without being a particularly feminine guy. This is entirely due to me procrastinating on my finals. Okay!
Dick has often been cited as the hero who plays into the "female gaze", and he takes up some key roles that are typically reserved for women characters.
A large portion of Dick's fem-coding is contingent on his being with his family, and when he's not with them, this fem-coding kinda drops away, such as when he's with his various teams or acting solo.
His most prominent (and imo, complex) femme-coded role is:
-> Eldest Daughter + Widow
Eldest daughter syndrome means " frequently feeling like youāre not doing enough, like youāre struggling to maintain a veneer of control, like the entire household relies on your diligence." It's born out of the unique way that first-born girls are expected to take on adult roles around the household before they've had an opportunity to fully experience childhood (an opportunity their younger siblings will have, in part due to this sacrifice). It creates a strong sense of independence and a desire to be a good role model, but also leads to undue pressure and perfectionism.
Dick acts as a central emotional pillar for those in his family. To the point that when he fakes his death, it breaks something fundamental in the family dynamic:
Not only is it repeatedly made clear that Bruce depends on Dick to act as a lifeline for his own mental struggles, but moreover, his siblings do as well. In a very literal sense, the maintenance of the batfamily rests on Dick's shoulders. Bruce is so rarely available for emotional support that these children turn to the next best thing, which, to be fair, is better than what Dick had growing up. He has to clean up so many breakdowns, it's honestly pretty staggering.
As the OG sidekick, Dick receives quite a bit of hero worship, particularly from younger heroes/sidekicks, who look toward him for guidance. As a naturally upbeat and welcoming person, Dick ends up in the position of bringing light to everyone, not just Bruce. For example, here's Cassandra:
This balancing effect is unique to Dick's skill set. However, this can (and does) backfire very easily. The same pragmatism Bruce engages in hurts extra bad when coming from Dick: like when Dick had to take Robin away from Tim. Not to mention just how intimidating Dick's legacy is, which can create resentment when his successors aren't able to play this role so easily. For example, Jason both before and after his death expressed insecurity that he felt he was constantly being compared to Dick, and falling short.
As the original character that people think of when they think "sidekick", DG Robin (and his successors) had the advantage of not losing prominence even as his contemporaries (Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, etc.) were de-prioritized in favor of independent teenaged heroes (like Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, and Starfire). But that means Robin as a concept now has to deal with questions that weren't so prominent in the earlier decades, such as: "How do we justify a grown-ass man using a child (and in fact, children) as emotional crutches?"
It's icky to think about, but there's no denying that early Batman and Robin got side eyes for homosexual subtext. I mean, they literally call each other "partners". So while that "subtext" was, and remains, just audience speculation, given Dick is literally Bruce's adopted son, there is room, I believe, to call into question how healthy it is for Bruce's oldest kid to be taking on a nearly-parental role and be a core pillar of Bruce's emotional regulation.
Hot take here, but I think Dick's relationship with Bruce was/has been pretty emotionally incestuous for a long time.
-> Emotional incest
"Emotional incest[...] is a type of emotionalĀ abuse performed by a parent.Ā In cases of emotional incest, parents rely on their children for significant emotional support, which is a reversal of roles.Ā Emotional incest is more than just relying on your kids on occasionārather, it is an extreme dependence on them." (There's a pretty good argument to be made that Bruce has been emotionally incestuous with all his Robins, especially Dick and DEFINITELY Tim, but y'know. Small steps.)
Emotional incest is a semi-common consequence of eldest daughter syndrome; the natural conclusion of deputizing a child to manage the other children combining with an inability to see the child as a child, still in need of emotional guidance, but more like an adult capable of shouldering the burdens of grown-ups dumping their traumas on them.
To be clear here, while emotional incest may not be incest in the most traditional, taboo sense, it is still abuse. It's putting a burden on a child they shouldn't have to carry, even for children that aren't dealing with such extreme burdens as "grown-ass man running around in a fursuit needs me to keep him from getting himself killed". It's a perversion of a healthy parent-child relationship, where the child is treated more like a partner than a child. In Dick's case, it further exacerbates the parentification he already experiences. This is made more explicit when Bruce "dies" and Dick is cast into a sort of "Widow" role.
Dick reluctantly dons the cowl in an attempt to bring order to his family members. He's also left to parent Damian, alone. He has to make the decision to take Robin from Tim, and try to deal with the fallout from that decision. He has to put a stop to Jason's fratricidal rampage. He's made into the de-facto head of the family.
And the thing about this is: Dick's not even bad at it. In comparison to Bruce's litany of disasters-in-parenting, Dick does a pretty bang-up job of managing his siblings, heading the Justice League, and being Batman. But the crucial point is that he does this at the expense of his own mental health, which is the crux of eldest daughter syndrome. There's no denying that at the time, Dick was most certainly the best choice for New Father Figure, but it was a choice he was pushed into, and a sacrifice he had to make. When this sense of responsibility to the point of self-sacrifice is pushed to its logical conclusion, it has the effect of making Dick a Martyr-type figure.
-> Protector/Mama Bear/Avenger
Dick has shown repeatedly that his hot button is his family. From Tony Zucco to allowing Blockbuster to be killed after the villain targeted Haley's Circus, going after Nightwing's family is a pretty good way to earn yourself an asskicking. Probably the most infamous example of this is when Dick thought the Joker had killed Tim, beating the clown to death to avenge both Tim and Jason.
And while this role isn't particularly feminine, I do think it's interesting that Dick protects his family members from each other with almost the same frequency that he protects them from outside threats. He's pretty notorious for wrangling Damian and Tim, foiling Jason's murder plans, and most importantly, beating the shit out of Bruce whenever he crosses a line, such as when Bruce asks Dick to conceal being alive from their family to join Spyral or when Bruce wanted to abandon the Bruce Wayne persona after the murder of Vesper Fairchild. Or of course, more recently after Bruce's latest MK-ULTRA shenanigans.
This basically puts Dick in the position of being the glue that holds the family together, at basically all times, but especially in times of conflict. This also means he's put in the dangerous position of bodily defending his younger siblings from Bruce's wrath or irresponsibility, a position made even more awkward given the whole emotional incest thing.
That's not to say that Dick's relationship with his family is 100% unhealthy. Dick and his family members (including Bruce!) feel legitimate affection and care for each other. There are times when the dynamics here are indeed healthy. And like most people with eldest daughter syndrome, the unhealthy nature of this dynamic is usually understated. Oldest sibling syndrome is often just an unavoidable consequence of how parenting works. So while I am of the opinion that this dynamic is often unhealthy, hot take: I'm fine with that.
Now, though I've just listed some tropes that he only falls into around family, Dick also falls into some fem-coding all the time, regardless of who he's with, and these have to do mostly with his sexuality.
-> Sexual Assault & Harassment
Yeah, so nobody is surprised that this is a factor. Look up any list of the top ten hottest/sexiest/most attractive male superheroes, I guarantee 9/10 times Nightwing is number 1. However, unlike his father, whose attractiveness is usually played as a part of the male wish-fulfillment fantasy, something people aspire to be, Dick's attractiveness more often makes him an object of desire- very similar to how most attractive female characters are perceived.
And as an object of desire, Dick Grayson is constantly having to deal with being objectified.
Now, Dick Grayson being an attractive character is not the problem. Dick Grayson being sexually assaulted isn't even the problem. the problem is that he keeps being harassed, assaulted, and raped in ways that are flagrantly nonconsensual, and yet it's not treated with the seriousness it deserves. In fact, it took a full decade for Devin Grayson to retract her previous statement and admit that yes, the rooftop scene with Catalina Flores was in fact rape, and it's never been acknowledged in-universe (though, comics have always been atrocious at calling out sexual abuse of all kinds, let alone that which targets men).
Hell, even when he in-universe calls it out, he's dismissed immediately and the story continues like nothing happened.
Like???
Dick's adult sexcapades (which were consensual and enthusiastic) have long contrasted with the numerous times he's been harassed; times in which he comes across as bored, exasperated, and even frustrated with his own attractiveness and the vulnerable position it often leaves him in.
This puts him in the rare (in comics) position of being a male character who consistently and near-exclusively has his sexual agency and boundaries violated by women - a position that authors uniformly refuse to examine despite writing him into it all the fucking time.
Other characters around him frequently make comments passing off this harassment and assault as a natural consequence of Dick's own attractiveness, making "jokes" that essentially amount to "I understand why someone would want to assault him". Which- UH?
There is also, of course, the unavoidable reality that as an acrobat and an aerialist, he receives a very specific type of sexual harassment
the nature of nightwing's fight style necessitates a type of tight-fitting suit that male heroes typically don't go for: an extremely slick suit with bare-minimum armour that again, makes him vulnerable in a way most male heroes aren't, but a style female heroes wear all the time, whether it makes sense for them or not. This of course then allows artists to draw attention to this fact by posing Nightwing in poses usually reserved for femme fatales:
And unlike the Hawkeye Initiative, these poses are (largely) unironic, and not played for jokes. Dick isn't arching his back or looking over his shoulder to poke fun at how female heroes are treated; he does so because the artist (clearly correctly) sincerely believed these poses would play into the unironic gaze of the audience, and also probably thought it was hot. It's the same line of thought artists use when posing femme fatales.
He's even been known to use his sexuality as a bargaining chip, much like more traditional Femme Fatales. In Batman and Harley Quinn (2017), he refers to sleeping with Harley Quinn after being kidnapped by her as one of "the things I do for Gotham", to which she responds "I'm taking that as a 'yes'." And that's uh- not how consent works.
And this particularly sucks because- HELLO? The opportunity to explore the very real and tragically underacknowledged phenomenon of sexual violence against men is literally invaluable, especially with such a prominent character. It's one thing to ignore that men face sexual violence, it's another, entirely more unforgivable thing to continuously and explicitly depict such scenarios and play them off as jokes or not as serious as they clearly are. But what did I expect from an industry that has never had a good track record on sexual violence anyway.
-> Queercoding?
There's also of course the fact that DC has been, as of late, dropping hints that Dick might be bisexual.
That on it's own doesn't mean anything, but when paired with the fact that DC has been angling toward giving Dick a similar playboy persona that Bruce has, just with men included, it's just very interesting.
(BTW: The likelihood DC actually commits to making Dick bi is, uh, not a lot, but if they're gonna stick with this weird closet stuff for a while, let's hope they do so in a way that doesn't make him sound like a cross between Donald Trump and Harry Styles next time? Please?)
Anyway, all of this is basically to say I am forever fascinated by the gender dynamics of Dick Grayson, likely due to the fact that I'm projecting all my eldest daughter traumas onto him, and that someone who's background is in Gender Studies needs to get on this shit if they haven't already. I just love this character sm.
Bruce unintentionally dissing the league while praising his kids is so funny to me
Bruce: we need an expert marksman for this job
Oliver: *getting ready to stand up to fully accept Bruceās praise*
Bruce: Redhood will be here shortly. We also need someone quick on their feet. Luckily Cass is working on a case nearby so we can ask her
One thing I appreciate in The Batman (2004) show is the way Dick is always helping people up.
Like, my boy is always helping everyone out. It's such a Dick Grayson thing to do. I love that they put that little detail in there.
I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

The Wayne kids arenāt mafia, but individually theyāre scary enough for people to assume they are. Everyone knows Brucie Wayne is the biggest himbo ever and his kids are running everything from the shadows. Itās likeā¦a given. Seriously have you seen his kids? Timās even the CEO at 18.
Dick is beloved. Everywhere he goes kids practically flock to him, but people have seen him slam one too many possible child predators into a wall with the most threatening smile for them to think heās all sunshine and rainbows.
One time, a mother asked for his help because his daughter was missing and the police wouldnāt help. Dick made one call (to Tim or Oracle), and the child was back by the end of the day and an entire trafficking ring was taken down. When asked he simply smiled and denied any involvement but said he was over joyed that one more trafficking ring was out of their city.
Jason Todd is Crime Alleyās hero. More so than anyone else, he has directed funds to help the area he called home before being taken in by Wayne. He died, but no one actually believes that. The Wayne childrenās āmafiaā had him doing something under cover. And while dick is all threat with a smile, Jason is Threaten with a frown. He can send people running with just a look.
someone noticed that Jason is always strapped. Man has no less than 5 weapons and one is always a gun. He doesnāt hide it, kids always ask him question and Jason always stops to answer them if he has the time. Even shows kids a few moves if they need to defend themselves. For whatever reason people donāt connect hood to Jason, but they definitely think Jason is funding hood.
Tim is the most relatable. Certified genius and always down to help kids with homework. Sometimes heāll camp out in a cafe for the day. Without fail his location gets leaked and by mid afternoon heās put away his WE work to tutor any students who have walked in.
Heās always tired, always has coffee, and always gives people a smile, but he knows too much. Rumor is that nothing happens in this town without Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne knowing. One time he was taking a break at the park, scrolling through his phone when a group approached him clearly intent on kidnapping him. Before they even got close Tim was reciting their social security number, their cell phones, the names of their loved ones, and their address.
When Tim looked up it was with a tired smirk that clearly came across as a warning. He then stood, slipped a business card onto the bench, and told them if they need work to call this number and their reps will help them find something regardless of their past record.
Rumor has it the downfall of the most recent corrupt socialite was completely orchestrated by Tim.
Damian is a little gremlin that has the family wrapped around his finger. At first their were rumors of infighting between the two youngest (Tim and Damian), but then how could that be possible when at the first sign of trouble Timothy materializes out of the shadows wearing his motherās smile that promised social and financial ruin if you so much as looked at his baby brother wrong.
Dick flat out punched a man in the face for calling Damian a terrorist. The āvictimā was high society and swore up and down that their would be a law suit, but Tim took care of it with a few photos and screen shots of an affair that would have ruined the man in question.
Damian has scary dog privilege on his own, but itās a whole new ballpark when Jason is out with him. Apparently someone tried to kidnap Damian on the way to meet up with Jason and the bats didnāt even need to be called. Jason took care of it before they even got the kid in the van.
Damian is a violent little thing. Everyone knows, even if it was never announced, that he got it from where ever he had been living before, so they always gave him a little leeway, especially since his violent tendencies were decreasingā¦at least physically. Damian can, will, and regularly verbally eviscerates anyone who wrongs him. Itās impressive as it is scary. ļæ¼This kid looks at you like he can read every insecurity youāve ever had and is not afraid to air it to the world while also insulting you into the grave.
Individually theyāre terrifying, but the reason that theyāre still Gothamās golden family is because together the goofiest fucking people you have ever seen in your life (also the endless amount of charity work they do together as a family). When all four siblings are together they always end up trending and itās always the funniest shit youāve ever seen.
During the first major snow when all of the streets were shut down the Wayne Boys were out in all terrain jeeps shredding it up dragging someone behind them on skiās or a snowboard
Somehow, all four boys were spotted trekking across town covered in a rainbow of colored powder. When someone enquired they admitted to getting into a rather harmless prank war with the currently reformed Ivy and Harleen Quiznel. If asked they totally won, but the fact that no part of any of the boys was uncovered said otherwise.
Dick once asked social media to help him track down Tim because he hadnāt slept in 3 days and was not supposed to leave the house. Heād been spotted at a cafe he doesnāt usually frequent and anyone around to witness the retrieval would later say it was the cleanest covert op theyād ever witnessed from the Wayne boys. Jason was the get away driver, dick was on retrieval duty, and Damian was there to make sure their route in and out was clear (hold open the door). Tim was recorded yelling every creative non curse (because no cursing in front of Damian, Alfred said so) under the sky, struggling in the arms of Dick Grayson who was smiling bright enough to rival the sun. 3 minutes in and out. The video screen shots are still used as a meme template to this day.
Brucie Wayne gets asked about his boys in interviews a lot. There are a lot of times where heās only finding out about their shenanigans due to the interview question, but he just smiles and says heās happy theyāre all getting along while mentally planning out how to deal with them later.
Can we acknowledge stomach acid being fucking weird? We have pits of acid in us that sometimes comes out our very delicate throats??? Imagine an alien hits a human in the stomach hard enough to make them sick and thinks they've won, but they get melted by the vomit. And somewhere along the line aliens get convinced that one of a human's defence mechanisms is spitting acid and we have to explain that no, but we have some earth native reptiles that can.
