Hécate (Hékate) es una diosa de la mitología griega capaz tanto del bien como del mal. Estaba asociada con la brujería, la magia, la Luna, los portales y las criaturas de la noche, especialmente los perros infernales y los fantasmas. Hécate suele llevar una linterna, que recuerda su conexión con la noche. En las esculturas tiene tres caras por su papel como diosa de las fronteras y guardiana de las encrucijadas.
