These Fuckers Breaking Down My Door Once More.....

waking up and seeing dream’s rip off project just breaks my heart man what the hell qsmp barely had two weeks to shine and now he’s introducing a VERY similar project in larger scale and uglier graphics and its just “the two are allowed to co-exist?” be fucking serious for a second dude why are you doing this NOW at the height of a project spearheaded by someone that used to call you a friend? like just . logistically speaking comercially speaking when you see how obviously similar these concepts are Why would you announce it now when you know someone else is getting the spotlight for once.

its hard not to call it spite or jealousy or anything of the sort when we cant confirm the timelines of this new project’s development but it REALLY, really feels like something unkind. not only that but it feels really gross to see most aspects of quackity’s passion project warped into something worse.. like LIVE TRANSLATION? really? bc dream of course wouldnt expect people to try and learn the different languages to communicate. he probably doesnt understand how redundant and ultimately hindering it will be to rely 100% on automated translation because 1) he’s not bilingual nor does he make any effort to understand the bilingual experience 2) he has no actual interest in the learning process of foreign languages or the different linguistic communities on twitch and in content creation in general . which makes me wonder WHY he is leading this and very likely profitting off of it when there’s no real reason for him to associate himself with this kind of cultural project other than . wanting to be relevant i guess.

during squidcraft, i didnt see him attempt a single word in spanish. i saw dream use google translate or straight up speak english (fast, idiomatic english at that) to spanish speakers and otherwise not try to meet a communicative middle-ground in any way. if this is how he intends to take on “united SMP” i cant wait to see it fail.

quackity’s project is successful because he cares. its modeled after his own experience and thrives because he as a bilingual host is able to cater to both communities within it and work as a linguistic bridge when need be. which, as we have watched day after day on qsmp streams, becomes less and less necessary because the environment quackity is fostering is actually very concrete INCENTIVE FOR LANGUAGE LEARNING. people are actually interacting and having meaningful linguistic/cultural exchanges that actually LEAD TO LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING. how the fuck is that supposed to happen if theres live translation? ill tell you now, it won’t.

when we study linguistics in college one of the first things we learn in regards to foreign language teaching is that translation methods rarely fuckjng work. by doing that youre limiting human interaction and actually DISTURBING the learning possibilities because youre taking away Real, varied input. dream doesnt know what he’s doing and its so upsetting to watch. dont even get me started on “language rankings” or whatever the fuck the competitive aspect is supposed to be

the project is just so flawed and the timing couldnt be worse. quackity is doing such a great job and? you just try to hijack his idea like this even though you clearly lack both the heart and the knowledge to make something like this work? to me it just appears so sour. so mean-spirited and uninspired. i dont even know man i just dont like it

i think part of why i refuse to leave the mcyt community is pure stubbornness like i refuse to let shitty people (fans and creators alike) lay claim to this community i will instead continue to strive to promote kindness and empathy in this space

So I read the fic that's been all over my Twitter for the last week or two. It's icing those hurts by Drhair76 on ao3. It's really good and totally took over my morning the other day. Highly recommended.

Also I probably won't post for the next day or two. I'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow so I'll be out of it for a bit

Slight Wano Spoilers

Can we talk about how gorgeous the animation for the Wano Arc is? Like Toei Animation stepped it up and made Wano so much better than previous arcs just for the animantion. That and its even gotten better during the arc too. I swear the animation has improved since the start of the arc. Look at Zoro's fight in the last two episodes. It's so clean and beautiful and amazing. Its makes the story so much more too.

I haven't watched the VOD all the way through but I know the Orange Ocelots made it to Dodgebolt!!!

Also I have unintentional made clingyduo on my page because my last post was Tommy and today's is Tubbo!

TOMMY LORE STREAM RECAP… 2

(This lore stream DOES contain c and cc!Dream! Fair warning!)

The stream opens up to Tommy on the bedrock platform over L'Manberg, and he asks Tubbo to come see him. He's excited, because he and Tubbo have each other’s back. He explains to Tubbo that the reason he’s there is because today is about their roots, and L'Manberg is also their roots.

Tommy promises in L'Moonberg, they will have a bee department after they see the bee dome. Tubbo reaffirms he will follow Tommy until the ends of the earth.

Tommy goes up to the Big Innit Hotel to say goodbye to Sam Nook. He tells him that he should go and live his life in freedom, rather than watch over the hotel ruins and care for Tommy.

Tommy slept in a tree near the prison to stake out Dream, living off only bread for a long time. Tubbo mentions when he went in the prison, and expresses regret for locking Sam in prison, saying he was “blinded by rage.”

The prison is completely dilapidated, covered in plants and dirt. The elder guardians are still there. Tommy freaks out a little about the bad memories it brings. They see Dream and rush in, insisting they’ll be together.

They attack Dream, and Dream is seemingly surprised, and they team on him, until Dream pearls away and activates a trap, freaking the two out and trapping them in the lobby. They run through the prison chasing him and attacking him, protecting each other and working together.

Dream takes strength and stops playing around, and herds the two of them into the main cell, where they get themselves locked in. Dream goes inside the walls, and starts bombing the two, taunting them. Tommy has a panic attack and Dream comes in, and using damage pots, Tubbo is BARELY able to kill Dream.

Tommy and Tubbo stare at Dreams items in disbelief, before sharing them between each other. They’re more in disbelief than excited, but they do celebrate. Tommy congratulates Tubbo, and says it was all him. Tubbo says it was us.

Tommy moves to leave the prison, but says it doesn’t feel right. He says if they get out alive they’re safe, and they leave through the hidden hatch. Tommy celebrates that that’s it, and it’s ended, unaware of the two further streams ahead of him. Dream also apparently slowly got more sluggish and out of it during Tommy's observation.

They two of them decide to start a nation tomorrow, and a day after they have their happy ending. They talk to a few people, including BadBoyHalo, Sam, and Punz telling them Dream is dead in celebration and asking them to join their nation.

Punz acts excited and leads them to something he'll build in the new nation. He leads them down a trapdoor into a dark blackstone room, which freaks Tommy and Tubbo out. Tommy mines the wall and finds TNT, while Punz reveals the revival book and his betrayal. He revives Dream, and blows up the room. Tommy pauses in horror after seeing Dream.

Dream and Punz chase Tubbo up Tommy's old Power Tower. They panic and cry, and just as Dream enters the Power Tower, the stream ends, revealing next stream (which will be at 6pm GMT and is called No Way Home.)

Fun facts: Dream almost exclusively mentions Tommy and only mentions Tubbo exactly once, after Tommy.

It's weird that it's been over a month now. I mean Technoblade has over 15 million subs now. Imagine how crazy it would be if his channel hit 20 million before the end of the year.
