Drawing Giraffes Is Fun And Somehow Easier Than Others Animals. Because They Are So Long, The Amount

Drawing giraffes is fun and somehow easier than others animals. Because they are so long, the amount of details somehow reduces considerably, and still, the animal will look great. Differentiating this one is probably the hardest so far. I felt that the spots and color of the giraffe aren’t so characteristic as other ones like the Niger or Reticulated Giraffe. On the other hand, the close relationship that has with the Rothschild’s Giraffe (you will see in the next giraffe post) make things a little harder.  Nubian Giraffe  According to what I read, this is the nominate subspecies which in other words means that was the first subspecies to be described. Therefore, its Latin name is repeated twice (Giraffa camelopardalis camelopardalis). This giraffe is Critically Endangered. It is believed that there are less than 2150 in the wild. However, about 1500 are from Rothschild’s Giraffe, leaving the Nubian Giraffe with less than 650 individuals. It is extinct in the wild in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, and Eritrea. In captivity, is bred at Gia Zoo in Egypt and the Al Ain Zoo in the United Arab Emirates. ___________________________________ Credits: Nubian Giraffe Nubian Giraffe ___________________________________

The Bryde's Whale Has Been A Kind Of Puzzle For Scientists Because Three Species Use To Fall Into Its

The Bryde's Whale has been a kind of puzzle for scientists because three species use to fall into its category. This is called complex in taxonomy. In other words, three (or maybe four) species of whales were thought to be subspecies, (or just the same species) as the Bryde's whale.

I wonder why not just name all four species the same if they are so closely similar? The devil is in the details. Those little differences that make one species become different from others can be the starting point for a completely new animal in million years. On the other hand, those tiny changes also may be the ones that make the animal adapt better than its relatives and therefore survive the changes of the environment.

So if is similar in appearance, as it seems in the cetaceans, there are movements and changes that are only perceptible in millions of years of evolution.

Can I suppose that the Balaenopteridae family is a young one, therefore many of its members are closely similar? Could be...

Atlantic White-Sided Dolphin. (Lagenorhynchus Acutus) Least Concern. As Always, I Have Enjoyed Working

Atlantic White-Sided Dolphin. (Lagenorhynchus acutus) Least Concern. As always, I have enjoyed working with this family. Working with cetaceans is always enjoyable. The most amusing aspect is getting to know them. I must confess that my knowledge about cetaceans was quite limited, extending only to the commonly known dolphins and whales. However, compiling this information has opened my eyes, allowing me to marvel at the hidden wonders of the sea and emphasizing the importance of protecting it. _____________________ Thank you all for your support. Northern White Rhinoceros

Northern White Rhinoceros

Poachers reduced their population from 500 to 15 in the 1970s and 1980s. From the early 1990s through mid-2003, the population recovered to more than 32 animals. However, since mid-2003, poaching has intensified and further reduced the wild population

Since 19 March 2018, there are only two Northern White rhinos left, the females Najin and Fatu, mother and daughter, making these subspecies functionally extinct. The two females belong to the Dvůr Králové Zoo in the Czech Republic but live in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya and are protected 24/7 by armed guards.

The last male, Sudan died due to an infection in his right hind leg. He was euthanized on 19 March 2018.

Recent studies suggest that it might be a separate species from the Southern White Rhino. Studies haven’t concluded.  *References: phys.org/news/2019-08-scientists-closer-northern-white-rhino.html https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Northern_white_rhinoceros

I Loved Drawing This One. As Someone Commented On A Dolphin I Posted From The Same Family: Is Like The

I loved drawing this one. As someone commented on a dolphin I posted from the same family: Is like the pandas of the water. Again, what fascinates me the most about doing this animal encyclopedia is that I get to know mammals I didn't know existed and I can share that information with you all. Thank you for following and being interested. Let's see what can we learn from this wonderful dolphin.

Hector's Dolphin Hector's Dolphin lives exclusively on the coasts of New Zealand. They can live up to 22 years and are some of the smallest dolphins in the world. (If I'm not wrong the Vaquita is the smallest). Because of its size, predators can be numerous. Blue sharks, White sharks, Broadnose sevengill sharks, and probably Killer whales and Mako sharks. They hunt using echolocation which is basically finding prey using sound (Just as bats do). Their clicks (the sound they make) isn't as complex as other animals and travel short distances. Nonetheless is enough for them, since their environment is crowded and sound wouldn't be able to go long distances anyways. This animal is not in danger but its subspecies, the Māui Dolphin is probably one of the most endangered dolphins in the world, if not the most. We will talk about him in our next post. _____________________________________________ Credits: Hector's Dolphin Hector's Dolphin Ballenas, Delfines y Marsopas, Manuales de Identificación / Mark Carwardine, Martin Camm _____________________________________________ Thank you guys for your support! Working On This One Took Me Forever. I’m Very Happy With The Result Though Because I Wanted A Pose

Working on this one took me forever. I’m very happy with the result though because I wanted a pose that portrays the animal with majesty and power.

Bengal Tiger

If you ever saw a tiger, 90% of the chances are that you saw a Bengal Tiger. It is the most famous and probably the one that has inspired us the most. The versatility that the tiger has to propel the imagination of humans is unmeasurable. From a cruel villain to a magnificent god, its charisma and beauty have made us dream for centuries, and are now just part of the whole human culture, regardless of nationality.

It is also the popular white tiger which is nothing but a lack of melanin, the pigment in charge of giving us color. Less popular but equally magnificent and extremely rare is the golden tiger which can be seen just in captivity. A problem! if you ask me because this means that has been humanly altered genetically to get the color. There is also the black tiger, which is not completely black. Its black stripes are thicker making the orange color less visible. However, there are some reports stating that completely black tigers have been spotted in the wild. No photographs have been taken though.

India primordially is its homeland but now it can also be seen more often than in the wild in the backyards of United States homes. __________________________________________________ Credits: Felids and Hyenas of the World: Wildcats, Panthers, Lynx, Pumas, Ocelots, Caracals, and Relatives.  Dr. José R. Let Me Introduce You To One Of The Strongest Family, The Camelidus.  I Still Remember Vividly The First

Let me introduce you to one of the strongest family, the Camelidus.  I still remember vividly the first time I saw a camel in my life. I was no more than ten years old and I couldn’t believe my eyes how massive this animals are. Somehow I got amazed. How awkward it feels by its long extremities that seem they don’t have full control. Or the unmanageable long neck that is crowned for a head that I’m sure was the idea for many monsters of Star Wars. At first glance, it look like if many mistakes came together to create this animal.

However, how wrong I was. If there is an animal that defy nature in its extremes conditions, it will be the camel and its relatives. They can live literally everywhere. From the coldest to the hottest, and can flourish even when abundance is limited. Excellent distance devourers and the best administrating water. Their sight is exceptional and can run at a formidable speed. Their bodies are made to take the best from the worst the environment can provide.

If the horse was crucial in human evolution, the taming of the camel I’d like to think was rather smart. A living tank where locomotive transportation wasn’t even a coarse sketch, that provides more than the indispensable to survive in the worst conditions. ___

Wild Bactrian Camels where thought to be just feral Camels that escaped to the wild. However, further genetic studies proved that is a different species that diverged from the Bactrian Camel more than a million years ago.

It is critically endangered and is recognized as the eighth most endangered large mammal in the world, remaining no more than 1400 specimens in the wild. Illegal hunting, habitat destruction, hybridization with domestic camels, and the competence for resources with domestic stock are some of the main threats for this animal.

_____

I hope you are enjoying this content. it will help me a lot if you follow my Tumblr or if you share my post. Every comment is very welcome. I am not an expert in the topic so if you have something to add, or something you thinks is incorrect, I will be more than happy to discuss it with you. Whales Are Divided Into Three Families. This Is The Second And Biggest: The Balaenopteridae, Which Contains

Whales are divided into three families. This is the second and biggest: the Balaenopteridae, which contains the biggest animal that ever inhabits the earth. However, we will start with its smallest member but also the fastest: the Mink Whale. This is the most common whale and is probably due to its not being commonly hunted by humans. Its size is too small (about 10m) and does not have enough oil yield, so hunting it is not worth it. Nonetheless, the hunting of this whale has increased.

Its name is confusing because it was first confused and classified wrongly. Its name is derived from the Norwegians who usually refer to any type of small whale as Minkie or Minkies' hval.

The Dwarf Mink Whale was described as a new subspecies not long ago and it is not sure yet if is one. Still has not scientific name. Mink Whale in captivity.

Mink whale has been tried to keep in captivity in Mito Aquarium, in Japan a few times. Most of the specimens died in few weeks while in 1956, the last one was able to scape a net aquarium after 37 days spinning the pool in the same direction.

____ I'm really ignorant of whales and most of this information is new to me. It is very hard to understand the information and translated it into something that I am able to explain. I hope is understood. ____ Thanks for your support. Likes, reblogging, or follows are very much appreciated.

Phacochoerus – Warthog
Phacochoerus – Warthog

Phacochoerus – Warthog

I love this ugly! Since I was a child I feel impressed by his horrendous face. Still somehow to me is beautiful.

There are six subspecies of Warthog until now but it could be more or less depending on further studies of some of this subspecies.

Common Warthog, Nolan Warthog: Mothers they are very aggressive, they can charge at bigger predators for defending their piglets. it is very a important element of the food chain since has many predators such as humans, crocodiles, hyenas, lions, leopards and even some birds of prey.

Southern Warthog: It can be found in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe

Central African Warthog: It can be found in Kenya and Tanzania

Desert Warthog, Somali warthog: Morphological differences between Desert Warthogs and Common Warthog have been overlooked until recently, that now they can be distinguished in the wild. Desert Warthog has drooping genal warts, tips of ears that bend backwards, swollen suborbital pouches round the eyes, and a shorter basi-occipital region that makes the head look “egg-shaped”.

Cape warthog: It used to be seen in the South African region but became extinct in 1865. I couldn’t find the reasons or a better image to take as a reference.

Eritrean warthog: Can be found in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia.

The next species is the last one from this huge family and and one of the most estrange from the suidae family: The Babirusa.
