I think the last line is, ‘Now we will start as friends’. Which makes sense, as I always heard the song as a reply to Dear Friend. It’s the same tempo, the same melancholic tone and he answers the question, ‘Is it really true?’ with the opening line, ‘You know it’s true’. I was always a bit on the fence with McLennon, but I think the line, ‘I’m still in love with you’ settles it actually. It’s official now, and in the end, they let John say it to the world, which seems fitting.

There are quite a lot of years between the songs, but I can clearly see the conversation in the lyrics: Dear friend, what's the time? Is this really the border line? And if I make it through  It's all because of you

Genuinely surprised if you haven't come across these quotes from the following YouTube videos yet: "The woman who saved Paul McCartney | 60 Minutes Australia" @6:25 & "Paul McCartney sets record straight on relationship with Lennon | Parkinson Interview 12 Oct 1997" @22:20. Seems to me like Paul's literally admitted he's not straight already and I'm living for it even if it flew under the radar

What does Pattie know? 🧐

Question: Is there anything about one of your photographs that make you smile because you know what is going on behind the camera?

Pattie: There was a photograph I took in India and the Beatles where writing music for the white album. It was a very creative time. But I got one shot of Paul and John sitting together. John is just looking at Paul and Paul is making some sort of face. And I just wish I knew what they would have been saying. But something...there's something going on.

Interestingly, Pattie tweeted this on Paul's birthday:

“You know, I think he would like it. In fact I said to them I hope somebody does this to all my crap demos when I’m dead… make them into hit songs”
