I was excited to see Medvedev play so well. One thing that struck me is that this is the first time he was in a grand slam final where the crowd didn’t pull for him at all. In 2019, the crowd got behind him when he was coming back versus Nadal and because he was the underdog. In 2021 versus Novak, they were with Medvedev as the underdog. Whereas with this final versus Rafa, Medvedev was the favorite and in the lead, so Rafa got huge crowd support as the veteran, the underdog and the one making a comeback.

Hopefully when the dust settles, Medvedev will see that it really was just the circumstances. He will have a lot of crowd support for many years.

First of all, thank you for the kind words. I do believe Daniil will see that very soon, after a good rest and spending time with his family I guess. He is a unique character. To be honest it hurts me to see him sad but I don't believe he will simply be discouraged by it. I know he will fight back. It's just a tough phase.

I agree that the crowd love to see a comeback and would cheer for the underdog. They also haven't really been nice to Daniil, like, their shouts interfered with his game and I feel that's pretty unfair. But a champion shouldn't think like me 😂 That's not his first concern. So. I look forward to seeing him bounce back and continue to prove himself. 💪

I kept dreaming about Daniil Meddy bear 🥺 Hope he is all right. Felt like he really was hurt by some tennis fans this time, and that hurts me too. But anyway I know the fight with Rafa would turn him into a greater fighter.
