I think the special charm of early Stephen King is that he’s absolutely terrified of women. I have a copy of Naomi Alderman’s The Power where Stephen King has a blurb that is something like “this is the scariest book I’ve ever read.” And yes, Stephen King I could absolutely have predicted that you personally find that book terrifying.
