In my country it's already January 12, I'm early.
Author's Note: certain inaccuracy of information about the picture attached. I just decided to make it up. Inaccurate use of German words as well, used Google Translate. Anyway, enjoy.
You were sorting out loose pictures you have in a box as your enjoying the last bits of freedom before the season starts once again. It’s filled with a lot personal memories accumulated through the years and never got the chance to sort it because of your busy schedule. Some were pictures of the kids, holidays with the whole family and some are your sweet and goofy pictures of Toto. You kept a lot of them as he is such a beautiful subject to take a photo of, no matter how much he says he’s not.
As you were skimming through, you came across one that makes you smile so much. It was a photo of Toto smiling so big that his eyes were scrunched up so cutely. You’re so glad to have snapped that moment, it was from 2013 at Monza after being interviewed by Sky Sports. You just started your career as an F1 photographer then and you by chance saw him and called him to say hi and he gave that massive grin, that smile that made your heart beat so fast and lived in your mind rent free for months.
While you were looking at the photo, Toto came to the room and saw you, smiling, wondering what got you in that mood, then he saw the photo of him and remembered that moment as well. In his point of view, he has seen you around the paddock since you stepped foot during the start of the season. He was enchanted with your beauty and simplicity, the beautiful smile on your face and the way your eyes sparkle when you get to see something beautiful or interesting. He had been meaning to talk to you, but, he’s always busy with the sponsors, team members asking for his feedback and being swarmed by reporters. But there’s also hesitation on his part as he’s also shy, he still thinks he’s not that attractive to the ladies. Little did he know when you guys started chatting.
“You have a copy of that.” Toto came in and sat beside you on the sofa.
“Yeah, I really love it and decided to keep one for myself.” You replied.
“It’s the picture that started it all.” He reminisced.
“Who would’ve thought, that this would lead to where we are now, many years later.” Giggling back.
“I really wanted to talk to you but we’re so busy and I was shy.” Toto recalled.
“I didn’t really think you were shy, because, you’re so tall and have a strong aura around you. But as they say, there’s more than what you see on the outside.” You murmured.
“I thought you were going to reject me or something, but then I see in your eyes that maybe, there’s hope for me after all. What I wasn’t expecting is you falling hard and genuinely in love for me as a person and not for what I have.” He explained.
“You know that your wealth was just a bonus. What I love about you are genuine about yourself, unapologetic and honest, being a great father to the children and your kindness to people that mattered to you.” You enumerated.
“I love you as a person, the stability you give me and to our family even when you thought it’s not going well. That’s what I love about you.” You continued.
“And I thank you every day for reminding me Liebling. Thank you for being there for me, for accepting Benedict and Rosa as your own and for being a wonderful mother to our little ones. You gave me another chance to believe in love when I thought I’d never have it again.” Toto said and hugging you tightly.
You were hugging each other and the thought popped in your head, “And here I thought you’d never like me.” Laughing at the thought.
“Life is such a mystery sometimes; you just don’t know what will come and it you.” He mused.
“It sure does.” You replied.
You continued hugging for some more and then you looked at your watch and the time is twelve midnight, a smile creeped at your face. You pulled away, looking at him.
“It’s twelve midnight, Alles Gute zum Geburtstag Lieber. Ich liebe dich.” You greeted him with a smile on your face.
“Danke Liebling. You and our family will always be the best present I ever received in my life.” He kisses your lips tenderly.
As you pulled away, and continued to give each other pecks, you decided to continue to look at the photo and giggle. Finishing the tender moment, you asked for his help to sort more of the pictures to be put on the album that you have been itching to finish. A moment for you two to cherish before the chaos of life and new season begins.
Could you do Toto Wolff with wife reader? He's down bad for her and always looking out for her. Like giving her his jacket whenever it rains or when she doesn't have one; tiring her hair when it is getting on her face; holding her hands tightly/ hugging during the celebration and anything else. The team could see that and tease him endlessly. Just something fluff and romantic. Thanks!! :))
toto wolff x author wife!reader
in which toto might as well have "i love my wife" tattooed on his forehead
warnings- cursing. the fluffiest fluff known to man.
author's note: this was so much fun to write! please do keep on sending requests, the more detailed the better!
being a busy woman meant that you were not the kind of woman to attend every race and toto understood this well. you were an author with a cult following that were always waiting for your next book to be out. your name had been at the top of the new york best sellers list more times than anyone could keep track of and you were always being praised for your work. this meant book tours, charity events and constantly brainstorming book ideas with your publisher.
this is why it had been so easy to surprise toto by attending the silverstone grand prix. you had told him that you were going to be in los angeles attending a big meeting with an american based publisher. however when you left your home in the english countryside you went to a hotel and not an airport.
usually you would never lie to toto but in your mind this was a good lie and you knew that toto was going to be happy about it so you weren't worried about any negative reaction, you were just glad that you were going to get to see your husband in the middle of an incredibly busy racing season.
the press went mad when they caught sight of you climbing out of a car parked at the paddock gates of silverstone. this was the first race that you had attended this season and every photographer was dying to get a glimpse of the woman that had toto wolff's heart in the palm of her hand.
you gave a graceful smile and a wave to the press but quickly made it through the paddock gates, excited to surprise your husband with your presence. your eyes scanned the people hanging out around the paddock looking for your man and soon enough your eyes landed on a large form clothed in a white shirt and slacks, you could recognize that back anywhere.
the drive to survive crew were currently stood in front of toto filming the team principle as he went about his day. one of the producers noticed you in the back ground and you winked at him giving him a thumbs up, telling him that he should film what happened next. you walked behind toto getting on your tiptoes so your hands could reach his eyes, "guess who?", you giggled.
"schatje!", he smiled brightly as he turned to look at you, his arms instantly going to their rightful place around your waist, "this is a long way from los angeles my love"
"guess my plane got lost", you laughed softly pressing a quick gentle kiss to your husband's lips, hyper aware that the cameras were still there, your husband was a private man you weren't sure whether he would be comfortable properly kissing you in front of a film crew.
"i deserve a proper kiss darling", he hummed before pulling you in for a long loving kiss one hand gently cupping your cheek as the other rubbed circles on the small of your back. once you pulled away toto made sure to keep his arm around your waist, just wanting to have physical contact with you.
toto turned to face the cameras addressing the camera directly, "this is my wife y/n. she has a very busy work life so she doesn't tend to attend races", he explained, "so it is safe to say that this is the best surprise ever", you were just stood by his side looking at your husband with pure adoration behind your eyes as he continued to speak a little to the camera before the crew went to go and talk to the mclaren garage.
toto took your hand and pulled you into the mercedes garage a bright smile on his face. toto leant down to press a kiss to your forehead "i love you so fucking much doll", he whispered into your ear.
"i love you too toto"
you spent fp1 and fp2 sat in the garage with carmen, someone you met when george first signed with mercedes, someone that you considered a good friend. "i swear, i have never seen toto this happy, he was in a bit of a mood this morning but as soon as he saw you he brightened up", carmen explained and it warmed your heart to hear that. you and your husband did not make many public appearances together, both liking to keep your professional lives professional and personal lives personal but whenever people saw the two of you in the same room they were forever commenting on how toto was a different man around you, how he was softer and more forgiving if you were about.
the first two practice sessions of the weekend had not gone as well as toto had hoped but he didn't seem to focus on the bad result as much as usual. instead toto decided to take you on a walk along the paddock giving you a tour of one of his favourite race tracks in the entire world.
you attentively listened as toto spoke to you about the different garages and the stragies he thought each team was going to use that weekend. he even introduces you to various people along the paddock, always introducing you as his wife as if it was not obvious by the way your fingers were interlocked. as you walked typical english weather began to hit the paddock, starting with a light drizzle of rain that within five minutes turned into full pelting rain drops.
at this point toto was half was through his little tour of the paddock and he did not want to stop so instead he dipped into a near by hospitality suite and stole grabbed an umbrella. he quickly returned to your side opening the umbrella and holding it over your head keeping you completely sheltered from the rain but he was still in the rain. "you can get in here too toto", you stated.
"but then you will not be fully covered, i can't have that dear", he spoke matter of factly and you knew better than to argue with your husband so you continued to walk with him. by the time you were back at the mercedes garage your husband was sopping wet and you were bone dry but toto was happy as ever, how couldn't he be? he had you by his side.
the next day you had decided to stay at your hotel for fp3 as your husband had kept you rather busy the night prior and you decided you wanted a little bit of a rest before the qualifying session. you had just gotten out of the shower when your phone buzzed with a phone call from your husband, one that you answered as soon as it popped up on your screen.
"schatje, the car is fast. we were first and second fastest"
"oh toto that is great love"
"i might be a little overzealous but i have a good feeling about this weekend. but that might just be because my good luck charm is in the paddock"
you laughed down the phone, "well dear i will be there in an hour to watch qualifying"
"okay honey, i love you"
"i love you too"
meanwhile both lewis and george had overheard toto's phone conversation with you and were giggling like school boys, "man he is so whipped", george spoke making lewis laugh.
"it is cute, they have been like this forever. when i joined merc they had been married a year and they were just as soppy now as they were then"
the drivers were just amazed as to how a man so intimidating could become a massive softie whenever it came to you.
your make up had taken a little longer than you had anticipated but there was no way you were going to miss the qualifying session so you had rushed getting ready and getting to the mercedes garage. in doing so you had managed to forget to tie your hair up. the wind in the paddock always made your hair go wild so whenever you attended a race you brought an ermegency hair band with you.
toto noticed that your hair was down as soon as you walked into the garage. you had been talking to carmen when toto had come up behind you and carded his fingers through your hair, carefully collecting it up into a neat ponytail while you continued you conversation. once satisfied with how your hair looked he kissed your shoulder, "i know that is how you like it my love", you thanked him already used to how doting your husband could be.
the qualifying session had been one of the best that you had seen. and the smile on your husband's face warmed your heart, there was just something so nice about watching toto wholeheartedly enjoy his job. you had been by his side through it all. you had been married to him for one year when he became the team principle of mercedes, so you had seen the highs and lows of the job. you had been the one to comfort toto when the news of lewis signing to ferrari hit. you were always there to help him pick up the pieces so it was nice to get to see the good parts of his job and how happy it made your husband.
"love come here", toto had spoken once the session was over and you did as you had been asked making your way over to where toto was sat at a desk with his laptop in front of him. he pulled you to sit in his lap. he then showed you all of the lap times thinking out loud about the possible strategies they could use in the race to maintain lap times like that. you didn't properly understand the things that he was saying but you didn't care you could listen to his voice forever and you knew that talking things out loud was how he worked best and you were more than willing to be the person that he spoke to.
the actual race had been the most thrilling one that you had ever been to. it had been complete emotional whiplash watching three british drivers fight tooth and nail for a home win. you had gotten worried when george dnf'd as the chances of a mercedes win had halved but you did not let your face show it. you just kept your eyes glued to the screens in the garage, occasionally glancing at your husband in race mode just to check in and make sure that he was not over thinking. when lewis took the lead you began to chew on your lip, just hoping that this was it. that lewis was going to win a race. and when his car crossed that finish line you burst out into a cheer, the brightest smile on your lips.
you were celbrating with a few of the engineers that you knew really well when toto ran over to you he hugged you tightly pulling your feet off the ground for a moment before placing you back down just so he could kiss you, "i have to go to the podium but i had to see you first my love", he spoke before his assistant dragged him away and towards the podium.
leaving you stood there watching him. the proudest wife in the entire world.
Toto Wolff with sick!wife reader. She has lost her voice and has to communicate using gestures which Toto and Jack find it amusing. Despite their best, they still tease her. You do however you want. Thanks!! :))
It was no surprise that constant travel took its toll on your health. When you landed in Austin and felt the familiar scratch at the back of your throat, you brushed it off as a consequence of changing seasons. But when you woke up the next morning and found yourself unable to speak, the situation quickly shifted from mild discomfort to concern. Toto, ever the attentive husband, immediately sprang into action, calling everyone he could think of for medical advice. His brow furrowed with worry as he paced around your hotel room, phone in hand, while Jack, your son, sat on the edge of the bed with a grin that spoke of mischief.
“Mom, this is hilarious,” Jack said, eyes sparkling. “You should totally communicate with signs and gestures until your voice comes back.” You playfully ruffled his hair, finding it hard not to smile at his enthusiasm, despite your current predicament.
Soon, the three of you made your way to the paddock under the Texas sun, the warm rays dancing on the concrete as the familiar symphony of engines and chatter surrounded you. Jack trotted along beside you, his grin as wide as ever, while Toto held your hand protectively, glancing at you every few moments as if checking that you were still okay. “Are you feeling alright?” he mouthed, his eyebrows knitted with concern. You responded with a thumbs-up and an exaggerated nod, reassuring him that you were fine despite the loss of your voice.
Jack nudged your arm with that same cheeky smile. “Remember, Mom—big gestures so everyone can understand!” he announced, dramatically waving his arms like he was directing traffic. Toto chuckled, a hint of relief softening his features as he joined in the lightheartedness. You rolled your eyes playfully, tapping Jack’s nose with your index finger as if to say, Behave.
As you entered the paddock, familiar faces greeted you with waves and cheerful calls of “Good morning!” You waved back, responding with silent, animated gestures and a bright smile. Toto, sensing your need for an easier way to communicate, handed you a small notepad. “Looks like we’ll need this today,” he teased, smirking as Jack snatched it out of his hands with excitement.
“Oh, I’ll be in charge of writing what Mom says!” Jack declared, marker already poised. He looked up at you with a grin that promised mischief and you couldn’t help but laugh soundlessly, your shoulders shaking with mirth.
Throughout the day, Jack became your voice, scribbling out messages in his childlike scrawl, sometimes adding his own creative touches. “Mom says to stop calling the doctor, Dad,” one note read, written with a smirk and shown triumphantly to Toto. Toto raised an eyebrow and chuckled, shaking his head. “Outnumbered, I see,” he said, casting you a warm look that made your heart swell.
Jack, finding endless amusement in your silent communication, began mimicking your gestures with exaggerated flair, even getting Toto to get in on the act.
Despite their teasing, the love in their gestures kept you animated. Each shared laugh, every little mock argument over Jack’s interpretations, and Toto’s constant, caring glances reminded you that even when unexpected challenges arose, you had your boys beside you, making everything a little more bearable and infinitely more cherished.
As the day progressed and the Texas sun began to dip, casting a warm golden glow over the paddock, you felt a familiar tickle at the back of your throat. You paused for a moment, touching your neck with hope flickering in your chest. Jack noticed your hesitation and tilted his head. “What’s wrong, Mom? Do you need to write something?” He held up the notepad, ready for your next silent instruction.
Instead, you took a deep breath and whispered, “Jack.” The word was faint, raspy, but it was there.
Jack’s eyes widened as if you had just performed a magic trick. “Dad!” he shouted, leaping up and pulling Toto by the sleeve. “Mom talked! She said my name!”
Toto turned around so quickly that he nearly knocked over a chair. His eyes searched yours, filled with a mix of disbelief and joy. “Did you really?” he asked, his voice soft and hopeful.
You nodded, and with a small, careful smile, you whispered, “I did.”
Relief washed over Toto’s face, the tension he had been carrying all day melting away. He took your hands in his, his thumb brushing over your knuckles. “Thank goodness,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “I was about to call for a specialist to fly in.”
Jack laughed, the sound high and full of energy. “See, I told you it would come back if we kept making her laugh!” He glanced at you, his eyes dancing with mischief. “Guess the signs and gestures worked, huh, Mom?”
You chuckled, the sound still scratchy but growing stronger. “I guess they did,” you replied, squeezing Jack’s hand. The three of you stood there, surrounded by the hum of the paddock and the warm glow of the setting sun. It was a simple moment, yet it held a deep sense of gratitude and love.
Toto wrapped an arm around your shoulders, pressing a kiss to your temple. “Don’t scare me like that again,” he whispered.
“I’ll try not to,” you said, your voice now a soft echo of its usual tone. Jack leaned in, sandwiching himself between you and Toto with a playful grin. “But can we keep the notepad? That was fun,” he teased, holding it up with pride.
The three of you laughed, the sound filling the space and blending with the noise of the paddock. And in that moment, you realized that no matter what challenges came your way, the bond you shared as a family would always be enough to carry you through.

Pairing: Zhou Guanyu x reader (gender not specified)
Warnings: Just fluff and possibly one small moment of poorly translated Mandarin so I'm so sorry if it doesn't make sense!
Notes: Guanyu deserves some appreciation all the time but especially after that race! Sorry its short but if any of you have any requests for him then I'll happily take them! Written or smau! And idk whether it's Stake or Sauber so haha.
Summary: 22 of 24 races in the 2024 have gone by and Stake/Sauber still have a grand total of 0 points. By the time Qatar rolls around, will their luck be any different?
-°•°•°•°•--•°•°•°•°--°•°•°•°•--•°•°•°•°-
You're on the edge of your seat as the final lap comes. P8. To many people that's nothing, in fact it's a bad result. But to you, Guanyu, and everyone in the Sauber garage around you, it's amazing. 3 points. Many would be devastated with that amount but for a team that so far this season only has 0, its amazing. It shows that the work so many have put into the tena really has paid off in one way or another.
You watch with bated breath as Max winds around turn 16, not long to go. You don't even focus on Max crossing the finish line necessarily, you just stare at your boyfriend's name. The graphic of the checkered flag appears next to the drivers just ahead of him as they each cross the finish line.
Russell, Gasly, Sainz. Your breath halts as your boyfriend's biggest inspiration crosses the line, checkered flag appearing next to Fernando's name. And it appears to happen in slow motion as the checkered flag graphic appears on the end of your boyfriends name. No one overtakes him in the last second, he remains P8! You let out a deep breath.
He's done it. You can hardly hear the congratulatory claps from the commentators at your boyfriends expense as everyone in the garage shoots up and cheers, sounds of happiness filling your ears. You're hugged by goodness knows who but you can't really find it in you to care, everyone is enveloping everyone else in warm embraces, one happy affair (and those who aren't are running outside to the pitfall to watch your boyfriend as he zooms past).
You hear Andrea's voice over the team radio and you put on your headphones to hear Guanyu's presumably happy response. Your grin widens at his adrenaline fueled response, carrying profanity, happiness and sheer passion, something that everyone else feels in the garage.
It feels like an eternity until your boyfriend comes back to the garage but when he does, the garage erupts again. He gladly takes the pats on the back from engineers, and various other Sauber staff but his eyes search for a moment, only to look onto yours. You grin, joyfully grinning just seeing him and you walk towards him as he continues to walk to the back of the garage in your direction. You aren't sure who meets who first but it doesn't matter as you crush him in an elated hug. "You did it!"
He nods at your muffled words, your head half hidden in his shoulder. You pull away slightly and Guanyu wastes no time before meeting your lips in a kiss. You both ignore the wolf whistles and claps from the ladish engineers a focus on pouring all of your happiness into the embrace. The kiss is filled with teeth from the both of your grins, emotion and tears that you didn't know you were shedding. You pull away slightly and cradle his face in-between your hands. "I know I always say this but I'm so proud of you. My driver of the day." You smile even more as you come to another realisation. "And everyone else's too!" Guanyu just chuckles, eyes crinkling at the side as he hugs you once again, muffling a small "I love you. Thank you" Before he kisses your temple.
You smile at him once more and you didn't know it was possible but he returns your grin with one of his own, ten times bigger than yours. It doesn't take long for him to be ushered away to go and see the rest of the team in the hospitality but you just watch with joy as away walks your boyfriend. A driver not on the podium, but with reaction far better than one in the top 3 today. A reaction that everyone knows he desrves and knows he needs especially with his lack of seat next year.
But now he's proved a statement. That regardless of people not wanting to give him a drive for the future, he's a damn good driver and deserves to be here just as much as the others, if not more. A media person guides you all into the foyer of the motor home to properly celebrate with the team principal, big sponsors and all the major people within the team.
☆-☆-☆-☆-☆
"Do you think that's enough of a message?"the both of you lie in the lavish Hotel room, your back resting against Guanyu's. You hum, a wordless question, asking him to continue. "That I'm not the worst driver." You nod, snuggling into his warmth more. "Of course, everyone knows that the Sauber is..." You both chuckle slightly as you struggle to find a word. "Tedious." "Yes, tedious at times. But you proved that you can get results even out of the worst car. And everyone realises it. Heck even Crofty and Jenson were cheering you on in the commentary box." You pull away and sit up, turning around to face your boyfriend. "And goodness knows people realised that with the driver of the day vote. You probably even converted some Norris and Sainz girls today." Guanyu chuckles and gives you a soft smile. Making you pause. The light from the skyline outside illuminates half of his face. Casting a shadow on his lips and.maiing his eyes all but glisten. You swallow and shake yourself out of your state of asmiration, instead adopting a serious tone.. "No, I'm being honest, I might have to start fending them off with a stick. I can't have anyone else going after my boyfriend, especially not with how successful he is." Guanyu looks down, cheeks warming before pulling you back to his chest. You sqeal slightly and gently tap his chest. "Hey!" He just laughs and kisses your scalp, one hand running up and down your arm as the other lies around your waist.
"Thank you." You furrow your brows at his vulnerable tone. "For everything. For supporting me even when I'm always coming last. It's just- I love you so much." You shake your head, rolling your eyes, catching the 'Man from Shanghai' off guard. Here he was, starting to pour his heart out and you're acting like thi- "You don't always come last silly. Look at today. You came far from last." Guanyu exhales and rolls his eyes. "You know what I mean." You smile at him slightly and relax against his body. The both of you finding a calm rhythm, things on the edge of falling asleep. You lay your head on your boyfriends chest and focus on the soft beat of his heart under his sleep shirt.
Guanyu rubs a hand up and down your back as he feels your breathing soften. After such an incredible day, he's glad to end it like this. Wrapped up with you in his arms, both of you basking in the post points joy. Finally some calm after the storm. Don't get him wrong, he's ever so grateful and happy for the multitude of people coming up to him and congratulating him. But this, this silence is what he loves to bask in. It's a point where he's most content. Just the two of you, it makes him feel like he can do anything (like going and scoring points in an absolute tractor). Guanyu, shuffles slightly, he feels his own eyes flutter to a close, nearing the familiar embrace of sleep.
"Wait!" He startles awake as you shoot up. "We haven't told sweetcorn yet!" He groans "亲爱的..." And as much as Guanyu wants to be a little bit annoyed at you stopping the both of you from entering into a nice, long sleep, he can't help but bask in the tender moment as you steal his phone to facetime his mother, babysitting your cat all the way in England. It really is times like this when Guanyu is the most happy; you caring about him, his family and 'your child' of course (he's very adamant on calling sweetcorn your child, contrary to many believing that you push the title). Which is why he happily sinks back into the pillows as he hears you dial his mother, easy smile on his face ad he lets the events of today wash over him, your voice coaxing him into a happy slumber.

A/N: Thank you @pear-1206 for requesting this! I kind of changed it up some. I hope that's ok.
Nobody knows what the day lies ahead of them. You don’t know if it is going to be a good or a bad day. Everyday you hoped it was a good day especially since you worked in Chicago Med, you are a surgeon, a damned good one at that, and you were married to a firefighter at 51, Christopher Herrmann, and you hoped he would be coming home to you everyday after shift. You two met when he brought a patient in after a huge pile up and it was all hands on board and when you two locked eyes it was love at first sight, a few days later he was coming into Med and asking for you and when he found you he asked you out and said yes. You both dated for about 6 years before he popped the question and you said yes almost immediately at your favorite spot on a little cliff overlooking the lake. You have been married for 4 years and have a baby on the way, 8 ½ months pregnant to be exact and a little baby boy.
Currently you both were laying in bed sleeping enjoying the warmth of each other and just being in each other's arms. Christopher had just worked a 24 hour shift and was off for three days and this was his last day off and you had just worked a double, not meaning to but Med was overrun and they needed the help, two days ago. You had woken up a few minutes ago but didn’t have the heart to move away from your husband and he had the same thought. “You know we have to get up and get ready to go to work, right?” He asked and that had you opening your eyes and turning to him with the help of him. When you were looking at him he kissed your forehead.
“Do we have to?” You asked after he pulled away from the kiss.
“Yes, we do. Gotta make that money for this little man coming soon.” He said putting a hand on your stomach and you felt your baby kick him and smiled.
“He’s going to be such a daddy's boy.” You said and he rolled his eyes and smiled.
“Psh no he’s going to be a momma’s boy all the way.” He said and you smiled and kissed him again. Just then the baby kicked you in the bladder and you gasped. “You ok?” Christopher asked worriedly and you smiled at him.
“Your son is making me have to pee.” You chuckled and he was up faster than you. He was coming around to your side and then helping you up.
“Then we gotta get you up and the bathroom then.” He said as you stood up and you did just that. When you were done you started getting ready for the day and going down to the kitchen where he was in the kitchen making you breakfast and a cup of decaf coffee, man you missed the caffeinated coffee.
“When do you have to go?” You asked, sitting down as he put the plate in front of you.
“30 minutes after you.” He said and took a sip of coffee and you took a bite of food and moaned.
“You’re a great cook, you know that?” You asked and he chuckled.
“So are you.” He said leaning back against the counter the two of you fell into a comfortable conversation until you were done eating and it was time for you to leave. You made one more quick bathroom break and then you were kissing him and grabbing your coat, backpack, and keys. “I love you. Text me when you can.” He said you smiled as you opened the door.
“Love you too. You too.” You said and then were on your way to work. 10 minutes later and you were arriving at work at the same time as your best friend, Will Halstead. The both of you got out at the same time.
“Good morning, Dr. Momma Herrmann.” He said smirking, ever since you became pregnant that was the nickname you got around everywhere, you also tended to act the mother to everyone.
“Good morning, Will.” You said as the both of you rounded your cars.
“How is little Baby Boy Herrmann?” He asked you and smiled, you hadn’t come up for a name just yet nothing struck you or Christopher.
“He’s doing good, decided to get me up by playing soccer with my bladder.” You said and earned a kick and you put your hand on your stomach, Will chuckled.
“Come on, don’t want the two of you standing out in the cold.” He said and threw an arm around your shoulders and the two of you walked into Med and heading to the locker rooms you greeted people along the way.
—
“Herrmann! About time you showed up!” Kelly Severide joked and Christopher rolled his eyes but smirked.
“Hey I’m right on time!” He said walking into the bay and up to Kelly.
“Just messing with you.” He said chuckling and he chuckled too. “How is Momma Herrmann doing?” Kelly asked as he walked into the firehouse with Christopher and to the locker room.
“She’s doing good. Little man woke her up playing soccer with her bladder.” He said and Kelly chuckled. “Any names yet?” He asked and Christopher shook his head.
“Nothing yet. Nothing has struck us yet.” He said
“Well I think Kelly is a really good name.” Kelly said and Christopher laughed.
“I’ll bring it up to the misses.” He said and then they were heading to the briefing room after he was done changing and putting things away. Everyone was briefed and then the day started.
30 minutes into the work day went by and they were currently chilling in the break room. “How much longer until Baby Boy Herrmann is here?” Gabriela Dawson asked him as she sat down next to him.
“4 more months and Y/N is ready to give him the eviction notice now.” He chuckled and everyone else did too.
“How has she been?” Matt Casey asked.
“She’s drained but won’t admit it. Too stubborn for her own good.” He said
“Sounds like someone else we know.” Joe Cruz said.
“Hey!” He said and everyone laughed again and so did he. Just then the bells were going off.
“Truck 81, Engine 51, Ambulance 61, Squad 3. House fire, multiple injuries, multi-car accident, persons in distress. 871 Willow Street.”
Everyone was off and running to their respected vehicle. “I think this is the most we’ve seen in one call. I wonder what is going on.” Joe said.
“I don’t know but hopefully it’s not as bad.” Matt said
—
You had just gotten out of surgery and back down to the ED when Maggie quickly shouted “We have incoming! Multi-car accident, several burn victims, and persons in distress!” She shouted and you were quick to grab more gloves and slip them on. As your colleagues were told where to go you spotted your husband and quickly ran over to him.
“What do we have?” You asked as Maggie told you where to go.
“One of the car crash victims. 36 year old man with several lacerations and possible broken bones. Looks to be stab wounds, looks to be gang related.” Gabby said
“Alright move on my count. 1.2.3.” You said and everyone moved him to the hospital bed. They left and you got to work. You looked up at your husband and gave him a smile and a nod and he did the same and then he was leaving. “Sir, can you hear me?” You asked him and rubbed his chest with your fist. You got nothing and so you started to call out labs that you needed to run “I want to get an IV of fluids going now.” You said and just as a nurse was about to stick him after getting a tourniquet on him he woke up with a start grabbing a pair of scissors on the table that would be used for cutting the clothing.
—
Truck 81 and Ambulance 61 one police car and Intelligence rushed past them and headed towards the hospital and that got Christopher worried. “What the hell is going on?” He asked.
“I don’t know I will find out.” Matt asked and he radioed into but Christopher was worried you were there and 8 ½ months pregnant and something big was going down at Med. “It looks like the victim that we just took in from the car accident was a person of interest with Intelligence.” Matt said and Christopher paled. He grabbed his phone and sent you messages and texts hoping you got called into surgery with another patient or somehow managed to get to the break room but yet he got nothing in reply. “Squad is still there. They arrived a few minutes after us.” Matt said and that made him feel a little bit better but not really.
“She’s going to be ok. Kelly is there with her.” Peter Mills said, trying to comfort the older man. Kelly was very protective of you. I guess that would be because you are his older sister and he would do anything to protect you so having him there with you was the best case scenario. Truck 81 and Ambulance 61 rolled into the bays and Christopher was the first one out, stripping off his turnout coat and boots and putting on his other boots. He went inside and started the pacing back and forth. Everyone was worried for you, you became like a mom to them even though you were younger than some of the crew but older than some of the crew. Randall ‘Mouch’ McHolland stopped his best friend.
“She’s going to be alright.” He said
“I just wish we stayed a little bit longer.” Christopher said
“Me too.” Mouch said and patted him on the shoulder and brought him in for a hug “Me too.”
—
“Woah woah woah woah.” Ethan Choi said since he had been helping you. He had stepped in when everyone left. “Let’s think this through.” He said. The man grabbed you around the neck and started to back you up into the main flow of ED. This got everyone’s attention, one in particular your brother, Kelly.
“Hey let my sister go!” He said coming up to you both.
“Not another move or I’ll end her.” The man said and that had him stopping you could feel the point of the scissors on your stomach and you tensed up.
“Please don’t hurt my baby.” You pleaded but that just seemed to piss him off because he pressed the scissors harder into your stomach not yet penetrating and you inhaled sharply and he tightened his grip onto around your throat. Everything seemed to go into slow motion and even freeze. You started feeling the baby kick and then you started to feel cramping, then you realized those cramps were contractions and not a second later something wet was running down your leg, your water had just broken.
“Let her go and take me.” Connor Rhodes, your colleague, your best friend, and fellow classmate said having noticed your water breaking and so had everyone else.
“Sir, you need to let her go. Her water just broke and we need to get her to labor and delivery.” Sharon Goodwin said.
“Not a chance. I want out of here and no cops.” He said
“I can’t let you do that. Cops were already on their way when you were brought in.” Will said, trying to get closer. The cramps were coming harder and so were the kicks.
“Stay back.” The man hissed, backing up further and dragging you with him.
“Hey man, nobody has to get hurt. You can get out of this alive. You don’t want to harm or kill a pregnant woman.” Kelly said getting irritated and pissed off that you and his nephew were in harm's way. He then saw Jay Halstead, Hank Voight, Antonio Dawson, Adam Ruzek, Kevin Atwater, Alvin ‘Al’ Olinksky and Kim Burgess roll in along with Chicago PD officers.
“Put the weapon down and let her go.” Hank said in his gruff voice.
“Not a chance. I’m not going back to prison.” He said
“Just listen to them and everything will be fine. Look around you, you’re surrounded and have no chance of getting away. Drop the weapon and let me go and you won’t be killed.” You said trying to stay strong and that seemed to do it because he was letting you go and dropping the scissors. Jay came rushing over and roughly and quickly grabbed his arms and cuffed. Kelly coming over and grabbing you into the safety of your arms.
“You ok?” Jay asked you and you nodded.
“Yea, I think so.” You said as a cramp came through and he nodded and then he was taking the perp out with most of everyone filing out after him. Connor was coming over to you along with Natalie Manning. “I’m having cramps, really bad ones.” You said as one came over you and you inhaled sharply.
“Alright, I’m taking you to labor and delivery.” She said and you nodded and then you and Kelly were heading there. He quickly told the others to head back. You were quickly changed out of your scrubs, stopping several times due to contractions and then you were put into a bed. Connor checked where the scissors were held against you.
“Nothing serious and barely broke skin.” He said and you were thankful for that.
“Can you go and call Christopher?” You asked Connor and he smiled and nodded.
“Yea I will.” He said and left the room. You started to inhale deeply through your nose and exhaled through your mouth. The kicking was not stopping and neither was the cramping. “Kels?” You asked and he looked at you and held your hand.
“I want my husband.” You said
“I know sis, he’s coming.” He said and not a few seconds later he was rolling into the room.
“I’m here.” He said, coming over to your side.
“He’s going to be early.” You said scared and Natalie was right there reassuring you.
“He’s developed enough. He’ll be ok.” She said as she started to help you into position. “I’m gonna need to push. You’re fully dilated.” She said and you nodded and started to push.
“You’re doing great, Baby. I got you.” Christopher said holding your leg and hand and Kelly was on the other side doing the same thing.
“You’re doing great, Sis. You’re doing great.” Kelly said
“Push, Momma.” Natalie said and you did and then fell back onto the bed.
“I can’t. I can’t.” You said exhausted
“Yes you can. Come on, Baby. We’re here for you. Our son is almost here.” Christopher said
“I can see the head. One more big push.” Natalie said and you nodded and did so. You pushed with all your might and then a pressure was released and your son came out screaming to the world.
“You did it, Sis. You did it.” Kelly said and kissed your head as your son was placed on your chest.
“Dad, you wanna cut the cord?” Natalie asked and Christopher did so after being shown where to cut. “You have a name?” She asked eagerly.
“Rye Kelly Herrmann.” You said and Christopher smiled.
“You two already had a name didn’t you?” Kelly asked
“Yes we did.” You said as the nurse took him and cleaned him up.
“You both are sneaky.” Natalie said, smirking. “Congratulations you two.” She said after she and the nurses finished up. Rye was given back to you.
“Kelly, you want to hold your nephew?” Christopher asked and he nodded.
“Yea.” He said and you handed him over to him. You watched him with him and smiled as your husband sat with you on arms wrapped around your shoulders and kissed your head. Your colleagues came in and out checking on you and meeting the baby.
—
2 Months Later
Christopher went back to work 2 months after Rye was born since that is when his paternity leave was up. You had more time to stay home with the maternity leave and the days saved up for vacation. When he went back everyone was excited to see pictures and hear about Rye. Christopher was somehow energized and excited to be back to work and on calls. Truck and Ambulance were called out leaving Squad and Engine back at the station. When they got back nobody was out in the bays and this made everyone wonder why. So when they parked and changed out of their turnout gear everyone went inside to investigate. When they got into the break room everyone was crowded around someone. “Oh he’s so cute.” Connie said. Everyone else got closer and saw who they were talking about.
“Y/N/N, I didn’t know you were coming today.” Christopher said as he came closer and Rye got excited seeing him. He quickly took him into his arms.
“I thought I would surprise you and thought it was about time for everyone to meet him in person and not through pictures.” You said and everyone chuckled.
“I’m glad you did. I think everyone needed this.” Wallace Boden said.
“We certainly did.” Gabby said “May I?” She asked and you smiled and nodded and Christopher handed him to her.
“Of course.” The both of you said. He walked over to you and wrapped his arm around your shoulders and kissed your head.
“I love you.” He said
“I love you too.” You said as you watched your brother and extended family interact with your son. He was going to be so well protected and have so many aunts and uncles.

“Mommy! Daddy!” A tiny voice sounds through the early morning immediately waking you and your husband, Owen Strand, up. That tiny voice would belong to your and your husband's 4-year-old son, Dakota Strand. You and Owen had met through Grace and Judd Ryder and the both of you hit off pretty well. The two of you dated for about 2 years and then got married and have been married for 4 years. Owen’s son, TK Strand, and you hit it off pretty well. You treated him like a son and he treated you like a mother and he even started to call you mom and you were delighted. When you told them both that you were expecting they both were ecstatic and they treated you like a queen and still do. When you met Carlos Reyes, TK’s boyfriend, you didn’t judge them one bit and opened them with open arms, you even considered him a son.
“Babe, our son is calling to us.” You said already starting to wake up and he groaned.
“Who is taking this one?” Owen asked and you chuckled as he sat up and so did you.
“He called for both of us.” You said
“Well then we better get going.” He said as he was starting to push the covers back and you did the same.
“Mommy! Daddy!” Dakota said
“We’re coming, Bud!” Owen said as the both of you walked out of the room and down the hall and to his room. When you got there, he was sitting up and tear tracks were running down his cheeks and your heart broke.
“Kota, what’s wrong?” You asked coming over to sit on his bed and he crawled into your lap.
“I had a bad dream.” He said as he snuggled into your chest and you stroked his dark hair that he had got from his father, it was scary at how similar he looked to his father with almost no trace of you. Sometimes you were jealous but your husband was so good looking you didn’t mind it. You looked up at Owen and his face was one of sadness and worry.
“What was it about?” Owen asked as he came to kneel in front of the two of you.
“You and TK went into a building and you didn’t come out.” He said and your heart broke further.
“Oh, Bud. Your brother and I will always come back to you.” Owen said and he looked at him with his father’s eyes.
“Really?” He asked
“Really, they’re always super safe. You know why?” You asked and he looked up at you.
“Why, Momma?” He asked
“Because they love us and don’t want to leave us behind.” You said and sniffled and you wiped his eyes with your thumb.
“I wanna see TK and Carlos.” He said and you chuckled and smiled and Owen smiled.
“How about we see them for lunch before they go to work?” You asked
“Ok!” Dakota said happily.
“You have a few more hours before having to get up. Do you want to sleep here or with us?” Owen asked, running a hand through his son’s hair.
“You.” He said sleepily and you smiled.
“We can certainly make that happen.” You said “Up we go.” You said and started to stand up with him. You repositioned him to make it more comfortable on him and you. Dakota laid his head on your shoulder and started to fall back to sleep as you and Owen started the walk back to your room. Owen smiled at the sight. You sat down on the bed and laid your now sleeping child down on the bed in the middle as Owen went to his side and sat down and started to lay down. You made sure Dakota was comfortable and then you laid down. Owen and you both turned on your side to look at each other.
“This is the 4th night he has had this nightmare.” Owen whispered and you nodded.
“I know. I think there is something more to it.” You said and then yawned.
“We’ll figure it out now get some sleep. We’ll sort it out in the morning.” Owen said and you nodded.
“Sounds like a good plan.” You said and then you were closing your eyes and snuggling into your son. Owen stayed awake for a few minutes longer taking in the scene and thinking about how lucky he was to have you both, and TK as family. With those thoughts running through his head, he slipped off into sleep.
The next time you were waking up was when your alarm started to go off and you groaned and you quickly shut it off. You quickly noticed the lack of heat and little body that was snuggled into you all night and then when your hand met an empty bedside where your husband slept you weren’t too concerned. You knew Dakota was with his father and it only confirmed it when you started to smell something delicious coming from the kitchen that had you getting up and making your way there. When you got there your husband was standing behind your son as they stood over the stove, Owen making sure that Dakota didn't burn himself even if he did then he would be able to treat it. You smiled at the scene and thanked yourself for grabbing your phone before snapping pictures. “Do you think Mommy will like them?” Dakota asked and Owen smiled.
“I think anything you make for Mommy she's gonna love because she loves you.” He said and attacked him with kisses making him giggle a sound you both loved.
“This is the sight I love to see.” You said and they both turned around.
“Mommy!” Dakota shrieked “Down, Daddy.” He said and Owen helped him down and he ran to you. He jumped and thankfully you had fast reflexes and caught him.
“Hi, Baby. Are you helping daddy with breakfast?” You asked
“Uh huh.” He said nodding.
“Actually, it's almost ready. Carlos and TK should be over here any minute now.” Owen said
“Oh, I thought they were coming for lunch?” You asked
“They were but had something come up with afternoon and wanted to do breakfast.” Owen said
“Well, that's wonderful! I'm gonna go and get us ready for the day while you get everything ready.” You said
“Sounds wonderful.” He said and that's what you set out to do. Once you both were changed and teeth brushed there was a knock on the door and Dakota looked at you wide eyes.
“You know who that is?” You asked
“Carlos and TK!” He shouted and then he was rushing off to the door with you not far behind.
“Hey, no running.” Owen scolded as he got food onto plates.
“Sorry, Daddy.” He said as he reached the door and was about to open it before you stopped him.
“Hey, no opening the doors without one of us.” You said and he nodded and you grabbed the door handle and opened it.
“TK! CARLOS!” He shouted and rushed to them and TK picked him up.
“There's my little buddy.” He said and hugged him. “Hi, mom.” He said looking at you and you smiled.
“Hi, Baby.” You said and hugged him as Dakota was passed to Carlos.
“Hi, Mrs. Strand.” Carlos said as he hugged you as Dakota was quickly transferred to TK as he asked to be back in TK's who was heading into the kitchen with his little brother.
“Hi, Carlos. Please call me Y/N.” You said, chuckling as you released him.
“If you want.” He said smiling.
“Come on, the food is ready.” You said and then he was walking into the kitchen as you shut the door. You joined them in the kitchen. Dakota was talking TK's and Carlos’ ear off but they could care the least bit. Breakfast was eaten with some fun mixed in and many many laughs were thrown out. Carlos and TK stayed until they needed to leave which everyone was sad about but Dakota was the most upset about it, he loved his older brother even if they weren’t full brothers.
Lunch came and went and the rest of the time was spent with Owen cuddling his youngest son and cuddling you. You had him do some stuff that he needed to do that couldn’t and wouldn’t be able to do such as using the ladder. Yes, you were capable of using a ladder but Owen didn’t like it just because he wanted to keep you safe. Although you do get on there and he doesn’t know about it but what he doesn’t know what hurt him. Currently you were helping him pack his bag more like you were putting the clothes that Dakota was taking out back in. Dakota always struggled with his dad leaving but he usually got over it after a few hours he was gone. After about the fifth time Owen was getting frustrated. “Kota, daddy has to go to work.” He said.
“No, Daddy you stay.” He said looking up with puppy dog eyes and suddenly you knew it was because of the nightmare. So, you got to his level and made him look you in the eyes.
“Dakota, look at me.” You said and he did so.
“Daddy isn’t going to leave you neither is TK. They’re extra careful to come home to us. They have to go and save people’s lives. Ok, Baby?” You asked and he nodded and Owen got down to his level too.
“That’s right Buddy. We’ll always come home to you and Mommy.” Owen said and Dakota nodded.
“Ok.” He said and you both kissed him and got back to packing. Soon the packing was done with the help of Dakota instead of him disrupting the packing. Soon it was time for Owen to leave and after a very tearful goodbye from Dakota, Owen was kissing you and heading out the door. Dakota was still crying.
“Hey, it's ok. How about we call Daddy before you go to bed and we go see him tomorrow and bring him and TK some really tasty treats, hmmm?” You asked, looking at him and brushing his bangs to the side and wiping his eyes.
“Ok, Mommy.” He said and you smiled and kissed his forehead.
“Now what do you want to take to him and TK?” You asked, still holding him and walking into the living room.
“Pie. No cheesecake. No cookies!” He said and you chuckled.
“How about all three or we make the pie or cheesecake for us and send the cookies to them?” You asked
“I like that idea, Mommy.” He said and you smiled and kissed his cheek.
“Very well then let’s get to it.” You said and set him down while you got all the ingredients. You and Dakota started to put ingredients together and soon after about 3 hours of baking you had everything baked and cooling down ready to be packaged to take to the firehouse tomorrow. “Alright, what do you want to eat?” You asked him already knowing the answer.
“Chicken nuggets and fries!” He said excitedly and you chuckled.
“Of course, how could I forget?” You asked not expecting an answer but got a giggle back. You turned to the stove and got the air fryer going “Hey, why don’t you go wash up and then go watch something?” You asked and he looked at you.
“Ok, Momma.” He said and scurried off while you started getting the fries and chicken nuggets out and waited for the oven to preheat before putting everything in and setting it for the time required. Soon you were hearing the TV turning on and some kids show queuing up. Soon the food was done and you were putting the food on plates and grabbing the ketchup and drinks and heading into the living room.
“We don’t tell daddy about this.” You said “It’s our secret.” You said and he nodded, taking it very seriously.
“Our secret.” He said and then started to eat snuggling up against you. Soon you both were done eating and now it was time for him to start winding down and head off to bed. It wouldn’t take that long considering his eyes were already drooping. Your phone started to vibrate in your pocket and you got it and saw it was a facetime from Owen and you smiled and answered it.
“Hey, Honey.” Owen said keeping his voice quiet and you could see he was in his office.
“Hey, Baby.” You replied
“Kota still up?” He asked
“Barley.” You said and showed him his son.
“Hi, Buddy.” Owen said and that stirred him a little.
“Hi, Daddy.” He said in a sleepy quiet voice.
“Did you have a good day with your mom?” He asked and you nodded.
“We made sweets.” He said and rubbed his eye.
“You did? What kind?” Owen asked and Dakota looked at you.
“Strawberry cheesecake, apple pie, and chocolate chip peanut butter cookies.” You said
“Oh, I’m so jealous.” Owen said “I wish I was there to eat it all.” He said and Dakota chuckled and then yawned. “You get some sleep. I’ll see you in a few days. I love you.” He said.
“Love you too, Daddy.” He said and then you turned the phone to face you.
“Goodnight, Babe. We’re planning to make a trip up there at some point. You ok with that?” You asked
“Always. Goodnight, Honey. I love you.” He said
“I love you too.” You said and then you both were hanging up the phone. You looked down and found Dakota sound asleep.
“Out like a light.” You said and got up and carefully picked him up and walked him to his room and tucked him in and bent down and kissed his head. “Goodnight, Baby. I love you.” You said and made sure his night light was on and walked out of his room cracking his door. You went back to the living room and cleaned up and turned on a show that you had been watching and watched it until your eyes were drooping and you were headed to bed.
The next morning you were waking up to your son crawling into the bed with you. “Mommy?” He asked.
“Yes, Kota?” You asked
“We go and see Daddy and TK today?” He asked and you smiled and pushed the hair out of his eyes.
“Of course, Baby. Let’s get dressed and brush our teeth then we can pack up the sweets and head that way.” You said and he nodded and he was scrambling to get off your bed and do what he was told. You chuckled and shook your head and did the same. Once you were changed into jeans and one of Owen’s hoodies you went and checked on him and found him dressed similarly, jeans and a hoodie. “You ready?” You asked and he nodded and the both of you went into the kitchen and packed the food up and put it in a bag. You headed for the door with your bag and grabbed your purse and keys. “Remember to hold my hand while we are crossing the street and in crowded places.” You said and he nodded.
“I remember, Momma.” He said and you smiled. He was so much like his dad. You arrived at the elevator and let him press the button and it instantly opened and you both stepped in and let him press the button that you told him too. You quickly arrived at the lobby and you held out his hand for his and he took it. You walked out of the building and to your car you put the food beside his car seat and then strapped him in. You got in and turned the car on and headed off to the station. The car ride was filled with laughter and signing. When you arrived the firetruck and ambulance were just rolling in.
“Hey, there’s daddy.” You said and he looked out the window excitedly. He was always amazed by the firetrucks and ambulances. You parked the car beside Owen’s truck and waited until everyone was pulled in and out before you got out. Once they were in the garage you got out and saw Judd walking over. “Hey, Judd.” You said and smiled and started for Dakota’s door.
“Hey, Y/N. Need any help?” He asked and you smiled at him.
“Actually yes. I have some sweets beside his car seat. Do you mind grabbing it?” You asked
“Yes ma’am.” He said and opened the door.
“Judd!” Dakota shrieked as you opened the door and started to unbuckle him.
“Hey, Bud! How are you?” He asked
“Good! We’re seeing daddy.” He said and you chuckled and smiled.
“You are? I know he will be happy to see you.” He said as you finished getting him out and picking him up as Judd grabbed the bag and walked around the car after shutting the door and you locked the car.
“Yea!” He shouted and the two of you started to walk in and he spotted TK. “TK!” He shouted and wiggled and you put him down and he ran to his big brother who easily caught him. You stared at the sight for a second smiling and then you and Judd walked over to the table and began to put the desserts on the table. A pair of arms slinked around your waist.
“Fancy seeing you here.” Owen said and you smiled.
“I told you that we would be coming to see you.” You said as you turned around in his arms and the others gathered around.
“Daddy!” Dakota shouted and that made him turn around and come face to face with TK holding Dakota and he reached for him and he took him.
“Hi, Buddy.” He said and he wrapped his little arms around his father’s neck.
“I heard desserts were brought.” Mateo said and you chuckled.
“That would be correct. We have strawberry cheesecake, apple pie, and chocolate chip peanut butter cookies.” You said
“Marry me.” Matteo said and everyone laughed.
“Sorry, she’s already taken.” Owen said and everyone laughed again.
“Dig in!” You said and everyone did as you stood back with Owen and your son as you watched your other children fulfill themselves on the desserts.
“How did I get so lucky to have you two in my life?” Owen said and you chuckled and kissed his cheek.
“Thank Grace for that.” You said and he chuckled.
“Hey, Dakota, do you want some?” Marjan asked, looking over at him.
“Can I, Daddy?” Dakota asked
“If it is ok with your mom.” He said
“It’s alright with me.” You said
“Yay!” Dakota shouted and then Owen was walking over to the table. You smiled looking at the scene. TK walked over and stood next to you holding two plates with a slice of apple pie and handed one to you.
“Thank you.” You said
“You’re welcome. So, what made you decide to come down?” He asked
“Well, a little someone wanted to see his daddy and big brother.” You said and TK smiled.
“He’s such a good kid.” He said and you smiled.
“He is and so are you.” You said bringing an arm to pull him in a side hug and he smiled and laid his head on your shoulder.
“Thanks, Mom.” He said and you kissed his head.
“You’re welcome.” You said and then he was getting called away leaving you to stare ahead smiling while you ate your pie.
You don’t know how you got so lucky but you were glad you did. You got a good husband, two good sons and a lot of extended family, who act like kids sometimes but you wouldn’t trade them for anything or ask for anyone better. You were happy with your family.
