It was Mexico, one of the most anticipated races of the season for you. Not because it was your favorite but rather because it was a race that would finally be in your city. You hadn't wanted to go when the date finally rolled around, having had your heart broken by someone you had dated for a few months. But your friends had promised it would be fun and that they would stay with you. But perusal they hadn't and instead leaving you to try to get a chance at a drivers autograph. As you walked through the paddock, you forced smiles with everyone your eyes had shifted pasted. You suddenly felt strangely insecure. Were all these people judging you? Your clothes? Your hair?
You had spent a considerable amount of time making sure you were happy with your appearance today and had felt extremely confident, but now you weren't so sure of yourself. Stopping, you looked around, hoping to find a glimpse of your friends. Instead, what you found made your heart beat faster, and a blush creeped up your neck. Your eyes had connected with one of the red bull drivers, Checo, to be exact. It felt as though suddenly everything melted away. Something about him had felt so familiar, and you know maybe that was just the fact that you had seen him online how many times, or maybe it was the delusion talking.
You blinked, and suddenly, he was walking over to you. "You're a redbull fan?" He asked with a smile. "Huh?" You asked before he smiled, nodding down at your chest. Well, at the RedBull jacket that was covering it. "Oh yea, I-I am," you smiled, fumbling over your words.
Checo had been immediately drawn to the girl standing in the paddock, looking around as if she were lost, and when he saw the RedBull Jacket, he felt a sense of pride. Even if you weren't a fan just of him, you were a fan of his team, and that meant something. "Always nice to meet fans, I'm Checo." He smiled, putting out his hand to shake.
You gave him your hand, saying your name before you smiled. "I know who you are, big fan." You had added." His eyes widened in disbelief. "Seriously?" He whispered.
He had doubts there were people who even supported him much these days, much less a girl like you. With those soft eyes, that gentle smile and flowy hair. You giggled in response, and God that sound, he wished there was a way he could record it and put it on repeat in his head for bad days.
"Of course I am, You're a talented driver, Checo," you had told him. He had heard the words so many times they had lost meaning before, but when you said it. God, it suddenly meant the entire world. Th-Thank you. " He fumbled over his words, making him internally facepalm. "You're welcome," you smiled.
Suddenly, an idea came to him as he loomed down at the passes around your neck. "Would you like a tour around the garage?" He asked, and you smiled. "That would be wonderful, but I have to find my friends before the race starts," you softly declined. "But maybe another time?" You had added after immediately regretting the offer. His smile had faltered for a second. "Yea, yea, that's good," He said, feeling embarrassed. You turned to walk away but stopped for a second.
"Oh, checo?" He looked at you. "It was enchanting to meet you," you said before disappearing into the crowd. "You too," He whispered under his breath, looking down at his phone.
A few hours after the race, you were walking through the paddock with your friends to the exit when suddenly you felt someone run up next to you. You turned to see Max, and he said your name, asking if it were you. You nodded, and he smiled. "I noticed Checo talking to you earlier, and I don't feel I'd be a good friend if I didn't at least try," He sighed. "Is there a possibility of getting your number for him? He doesn't even know I'm asking, but please?" He pleads, and you chuckled.
You dug in your purse, pulling out a piece of paper and a pen. Quickly writing down your number and handing it to him. "Tell him I'll be waiting for that call," you smiled, and Max nodded before bidding his farewells to the group and running away. You had chuckled to yourself. There was no way that had actually happened.
Two years later:
You walked down the aisle, the white dress fitting against your skin as if it were made for you. You look up at the man standing by the altar and suddenly realize this was your life. This wasn't just some delusion or some fantasy. You were marrying this man. You would be his wife, and he would be your husband. Tears welled in your eyes as the normal wedding procedures happened.
It was when he said his vows that you broke down crying. "I am forever wonderstruck by you mi amore, and like you said to me that first day we met, I'll forever wonder if you know just how Enchanted I was to meet you"

Market Hearts - Benedict Bridgerton
Word Count: 1751
Summary: When one notices their lover's joy in a rather odd place, why would they not join in on the feeling?
Benedict Bridgerton, the second son of the Bridgerton family, had never imagined himself spending a morning in the bustling streets of the London market.
It was an unconventional activity for a gentleman of his stature, but then again, you were anything but conventional.
Y/n Bridgerton, you were a woman of singular character.
You possessed a spirit as free as the wind and a heart as generous as the summer sun.
From the moment Benedict had laid eyes on you, he had known that his life would never be the same.
Marrying you had been the easiest decision of his life, but understanding the full depth of your soul was a journey he was still on.
This morning was to be another chapter in that journey.
“Benedict, you don’t have to come with me,” you said, your eyes sparkling with amusement as you adjusted the basket on your arm.
The sunlight streamed through the windows of your house, casting a warm glow on your hair.
Benedict, already dressed in attire more suited for a morning ride in the park than a trip to the market, shook his head with a smile.
“Nonsense. How can I resist seeing where you disappear to every week? You speak of the market as if it were some magical land.”
“In a way, it is,” you replied, your voice softening. “It’s full of life and color, of people with stories etched into their faces. It reminds me of how fast the world is.”
Benedict studied your face, noting the earnestness in your eyes.
This was not merely a chore for you, it was an adventure, an exploration of humanity that fed your soul.
It was one of the many reasons he loved you so fiercely. How could he not join you on this journey, even if only for a day?
“Then lead the way, my love,” he said, offering you his arm.
You walked through the streets of Mayfair, a picture-perfect couple that turned heads wherever you went.
Benedict, with his tall, lean frame and dark, wavy hair, cut a dashing figure in his tailored coat and polished boots.
You, on the other hand, were the epitome of grace and beauty.
Your gown, a simple yet elegant affair in pale blue, highlighted your form and the natural radiance that seemed to emanate from your every pore.
As you moved further away from the more affluent parts of town, the cobblestones grew uneven, and the scent in the air shifted from the delicate aroma of roses to the more earthy smell of baked bread and fresh produce.
The market was already bustling with activity, despite the early hour.
Stalls lined the streets, filled with everything from ripe fruits and vegetables to bolts of colorful fabric and handmade trinkets.
Benedict quickly noticed how out of place he was.
Gentlemen of his rank did not frequent such places.
He could feel the curious glances of the vendors and the wary looks of the other shoppers, but he paid them no mind.
His focus was on you.
You greeted the stall owners by name, engaging them in friendly conversation as you perused their wares.
Benedict watched as you haggled over the price of a plump tomato with an elderly man, your laughter infectious as you bantered back and forth.
It was a side of you that he rarely saw—a side that was not burdened by the expectations of society, a side that was free and unguarded.
“Y/n has a way with people,” the voice of an elderly woman cut through his thoughts.
Benedict turned to find a small, wizened woman standing beside him, a knowing smile on her lips.
She was dressed in a simple brown dress, her hair hidden beneath a white cap.
Despite her humble appearance, there was something regal about her bearing.
“Indeed she does,” Benedict replied, his gaze drifting back to you, as you were helping a young mother choose a handful of carrots while keeping the woman’s children entertained with a funny story.
The old woman chuckled. “She has the gift of seeing people, really seeing them. It’s a rare thing, especially among those who live in the world you come from.”
Benedict studied the woman, intrigued by her words. “And what world would that be?”
“The world of titles and wealth, where appearances matter more than hearts,” the woman said, her tone gentle but firm. “Your wife, she sees past all that. She sees the soul.”
Benedict felt a stirring in his chest, a mix of pride and something deeper—something almost like reverence.
The old woman’s words rang true.
You had always had an uncanny ability to connect with people, to make them feel seen and valued, no matter their station in life.
“She is my sunshine,” Benedict found himself saying, the words slipping out before he could think better of them.
The old woman smiled, a twinkle in her eye. “And you, young man, are her moon. You reflect her light and give it back to her when the night comes.”
Benedict looked at the woman in surprise, but before he could respond, she gave him a small nod and shuffled away into the crowd, leaving him standing there, contemplating her words.
He had always known that you were special, but seeing you here, in your element, made him realize just how unique you truly were.
You were a beacon of light, brightening the lives of everyone you encountered.
And it was his duty, his privilege, to protect that light.
As you continued your journey through the market, Benedict found himself more and more in awe of you.
You moved with a grace that belied the chaos around you, your laughter like music amidst the cacophony of voices and sounds.
He saw how the sellers’ faces lit up when they saw you, how the children gathered around you, drawn to your warmth like moths to a flame.
But he also saw the challenges.
There were moments when your cheerful demeanor was met with coldness or indifference, when your attempts to connect were rebuffed by those who were too hardened by life’s difficulties to appreciate your kindness.
And it was in those moments that Benedict felt a fierce protectiveness rise within him.
He had always been a man of action, a man who could solve problems with a few well-placed words or a deft stroke of his pen.
But here, in this vibrant, unpredictable world, he realized that there were some things that required more than just his influence or his name.
Here, it was you who held the power, and all he could do was stand by your side and support you in whatever way he could.
“Benedict,” your voice brought him back to the present.
You were standing in front of a stall selling flowers, a small bouquet of wildflowers in your hand. “Aren’t these lovely? They remind me of the fields near our home.”
Benedict smiled and took the bouquet from you, bringing it to his nose to inhale the sweet scent. “They are lovely, but not as lovely as you.”
You blushed and playfully swatted his arm. “You’re incorrigible.”
“Only because you inspire it, my dear.”
As you continued to browse the stalls, Benedict felt a growing sense of contentment.
This was what life was truly about—these small, precious moments shared with the person he loved more than anything in the world.
Eventually, you made your way to a quieter part of the market, where a small café sat tucked away between two larger buildings.
You led him inside, where you found a cozy table near the window.
The owner, a rotund man with a jolly face, greeted you warmly and quickly brought you a pot of tea and a plate of freshly baked scones.
“I come here every time I visit the market,” you explained as you poured the tea. “It’s my little retreat, a place to sit and think.”
Benedict looked around the café, taking in the simple yet charming décor.
It was a place that perfectly reflected your personality—unpretentious, welcoming, and full of warmth.
As you sipped your tea, Benedict reached across the table and took your hand in his. “Thank you for bringing me here today.”
You looked at him, your eyes filled with love and affection. “I’m glad you came. I know it’s not the sort of place you’re used to, but it means a lot to me that you wanted to share it with me.”
Benedict squeezed your hand, his heart swelling with emotion. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”
You sat in comfortable silence for a while, simply enjoying each other’s company.
Benedict found himself reflecting on the events of the morning, on the way you had moved through the market with such ease and grace.
He realized that you had a rare gift, one that went beyond your beauty or your charm.
You had the ability to bring out the best in people, to make them feel valued and appreciated.
And it was a gift that he was determined to protect, no matter what.
When you finally left the café, the sun was high in the sky, casting long shadows across the cobblestone streets.
Benedict and you made your way back to your home, the basket of market goods in tow.
As you walked, Benedict wrapped his arm around your shoulders, pulling you close.
“You know,” he said, his voice thoughtful, “I’ve always considered myself a man of the night. I find solace in the quiet, in the solitude.”
You looked up at him, your eyes curious. “And now?”
Benedict smiled down at you, his heart full to bursting. “Now I know that the night is only beautiful because of the sun. You are my sunshine. You bring light to my life in ways I never imagined.”
Tears glistened in your eyes as you leaned into him, resting your head against his chest. “And you are my moon. You are the one who gives me the strength to shine, who reflects my light when I cannot see it myself.”
You continued your walk in silence, the weight of your words hanging in the air like a blessing.
Benedict knew that life would not always be easy, that there would be challenges and obstacles ahead.
But as long as he had you by his side, he knew you could face anything together.
You were his sunshine, and he was your moon.
And together, you would light up the world.
Toto Wolff with sick!wife reader. She has lost her voice and has to communicate using gestures which Toto and Jack find it amusing. Despite their best, they still tease her. You do however you want. Thanks!! :))
It was no surprise that constant travel took its toll on your health. When you landed in Austin and felt the familiar scratch at the back of your throat, you brushed it off as a consequence of changing seasons. But when you woke up the next morning and found yourself unable to speak, the situation quickly shifted from mild discomfort to concern. Toto, ever the attentive husband, immediately sprang into action, calling everyone he could think of for medical advice. His brow furrowed with worry as he paced around your hotel room, phone in hand, while Jack, your son, sat on the edge of the bed with a grin that spoke of mischief.
“Mom, this is hilarious,” Jack said, eyes sparkling. “You should totally communicate with signs and gestures until your voice comes back.” You playfully ruffled his hair, finding it hard not to smile at his enthusiasm, despite your current predicament.
Soon, the three of you made your way to the paddock under the Texas sun, the warm rays dancing on the concrete as the familiar symphony of engines and chatter surrounded you. Jack trotted along beside you, his grin as wide as ever, while Toto held your hand protectively, glancing at you every few moments as if checking that you were still okay. “Are you feeling alright?” he mouthed, his eyebrows knitted with concern. You responded with a thumbs-up and an exaggerated nod, reassuring him that you were fine despite the loss of your voice.
Jack nudged your arm with that same cheeky smile. “Remember, Mom—big gestures so everyone can understand!” he announced, dramatically waving his arms like he was directing traffic. Toto chuckled, a hint of relief softening his features as he joined in the lightheartedness. You rolled your eyes playfully, tapping Jack’s nose with your index finger as if to say, Behave.
As you entered the paddock, familiar faces greeted you with waves and cheerful calls of “Good morning!” You waved back, responding with silent, animated gestures and a bright smile. Toto, sensing your need for an easier way to communicate, handed you a small notepad. “Looks like we’ll need this today,” he teased, smirking as Jack snatched it out of his hands with excitement.
“Oh, I’ll be in charge of writing what Mom says!” Jack declared, marker already poised. He looked up at you with a grin that promised mischief and you couldn’t help but laugh soundlessly, your shoulders shaking with mirth.
Throughout the day, Jack became your voice, scribbling out messages in his childlike scrawl, sometimes adding his own creative touches. “Mom says to stop calling the doctor, Dad,” one note read, written with a smirk and shown triumphantly to Toto. Toto raised an eyebrow and chuckled, shaking his head. “Outnumbered, I see,” he said, casting you a warm look that made your heart swell.
Jack, finding endless amusement in your silent communication, began mimicking your gestures with exaggerated flair, even getting Toto to get in on the act.
Despite their teasing, the love in their gestures kept you animated. Each shared laugh, every little mock argument over Jack’s interpretations, and Toto’s constant, caring glances reminded you that even when unexpected challenges arose, you had your boys beside you, making everything a little more bearable and infinitely more cherished.
As the day progressed and the Texas sun began to dip, casting a warm golden glow over the paddock, you felt a familiar tickle at the back of your throat. You paused for a moment, touching your neck with hope flickering in your chest. Jack noticed your hesitation and tilted his head. “What’s wrong, Mom? Do you need to write something?” He held up the notepad, ready for your next silent instruction.
Instead, you took a deep breath and whispered, “Jack.” The word was faint, raspy, but it was there.
Jack’s eyes widened as if you had just performed a magic trick. “Dad!” he shouted, leaping up and pulling Toto by the sleeve. “Mom talked! She said my name!”
Toto turned around so quickly that he nearly knocked over a chair. His eyes searched yours, filled with a mix of disbelief and joy. “Did you really?” he asked, his voice soft and hopeful.
You nodded, and with a small, careful smile, you whispered, “I did.”
Relief washed over Toto’s face, the tension he had been carrying all day melting away. He took your hands in his, his thumb brushing over your knuckles. “Thank goodness,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “I was about to call for a specialist to fly in.”
Jack laughed, the sound high and full of energy. “See, I told you it would come back if we kept making her laugh!” He glanced at you, his eyes dancing with mischief. “Guess the signs and gestures worked, huh, Mom?”
You chuckled, the sound still scratchy but growing stronger. “I guess they did,” you replied, squeezing Jack’s hand. The three of you stood there, surrounded by the hum of the paddock and the warm glow of the setting sun. It was a simple moment, yet it held a deep sense of gratitude and love.
Toto wrapped an arm around your shoulders, pressing a kiss to your temple. “Don’t scare me like that again,” he whispered.
“I’ll try not to,” you said, your voice now a soft echo of its usual tone. Jack leaned in, sandwiching himself between you and Toto with a playful grin. “But can we keep the notepad? That was fun,” he teased, holding it up with pride.
The three of you laughed, the sound filling the space and blending with the noise of the paddock. And in that moment, you realized that no matter what challenges came your way, the bond you shared as a family would always be enough to carry you through.

summary: a lull in your shift allows for some quiet time with Jack which is suddenly interrupted by the wielding of a knife.
word count: 700+
a/n: not edited or proofread at all!! I wrote this literally in an hour. ho-ho-holy shit it’s been a minute since I’ve posted on here but, I’m back? Sort of?
It was a quiet night in the ER— more so than normal. It almost made you miss the chaos. Almost. Because while the chaos guaranteed your shift went faster, sometimes not even that could compare to the moments hidden in the quiet. When on the rare occasion, during a lull in the night and there were only one or two people in the waiting room, every patient behind the doors sound asleep and all the staff caught up on their work, did it allow you a couple of minutes alone with your husband— the familiar feeling of his solid arms sliding around your waist from behind putting you further at ease.
“Hi,” Jack murmurs against your neck, pressing a kiss to the spot and resting his head on your shoulder.
“Hi,” you whisper back, giving his hand that rests on your middle a squeeze before going back to making your cup of tea.
“Tea?” you offer.
He shakes his head with a pleased sigh, “I’m quite happy with what I have right now.”
Your eyes widen, feeling just how happy he was as he pulled you closer to him— something hard pressing into your lower back.
“I can tell,” you breathe a laugh and turn around in his arms.
Draping your arms around his neck, you reach up to press a soft kiss against his lips, his arms tightening around you and holding you in place to pull you back in for another but you deny him to peer through the small window in the door to make sure no one was coming toward the tea room.
“All clear?” He muses, when your gaze returns to him.
You roll your eyes but, allow him to pull you into another kiss. Slow and tender, his mouth coaxes your own open to snake his tongue into yours. You moan at the feeling of his tongue sliding against yours, arms tightening around him as his hardness presses into your lower stomach—
“Fuck-” you whine, breaking the kiss.
Jack doesn’t let up though, continuing to press hot, wet kisses down your neck, his hands sliding down your body and finding perch on your ass to press you even closer to him—
“Is that a knife in your pocket or are you just that excited to see me?” you tease breathlessly but, your words seem to halt his ministrations.
“What?” you ask, head dipping to meet his gaze and concern lacing your voice at the odd look in his eyes. “Jack, what is it?”
“Uh— actually,” he removes one of his arms from around you to reach into his pocket.
“It uh— it is a knife,” he pull an all black switch blade out and shows it to you. “It’s that one I was telling you about a couple of weeks ago, remember? The one I said I ordered? It was just delivered yesterday. Here-”
You stare at your husband, absolutely bewildered and pressing a hand to your mouth while he shows it off to you, describing its different features and demonstrating them too—
“Oh my god,” you whisper from behind your fingers. The moment was completely shattered and god, if it was anyone else… but, it wasn’t anyone else. It was Jack. Your Jack and you couldn’t deny the way your heart swelled and filled with more love for him than you knew you were capable of as his eyes lit up every time he looked at you or showed you something new on the blade that he should’ve absolutely not been carrying around on him but was anyway. “Oh Jack, baby, you are so lucky I am so in love with you.”
“What? Why?” he questions, brows furrowing in complete oblivion but, you give him a moment to catch on.
“Oh-” he says, mouth forming an ‘o’ to match. “Oh- baby- I’m so sorry-”
“It’s okay,” you hum your amusement, folding the blade up and placing it in the breast pocket of his scrub top.
Leaning back against the counter, you watch as he closes his eyes and grimaces— the corner of your lips twitching as you suppress your smile. A small laugh escaping you a second later as he groans and falls forward into your arms, his head resting on your shoulder as you rub soothing circles into his back.
“If it’s of any consolation, I also was and most definitely still am excited to see you,” Jack mumbles into your neck, pressing his indeed hardened member into you.
You don’t suppress the laughter that bubbles out of you this time, arms wrapping around him as you pepper his reddened cheeks and neck with kisses.
Yeah, you lived for these quiet moments.

“Mommy! Daddy!” A tiny voice sounds through the early morning immediately waking you and your husband, Owen Strand, up. That tiny voice would belong to your and your husband's 4-year-old son, Dakota Strand. You and Owen had met through Grace and Judd Ryder and the both of you hit off pretty well. The two of you dated for about 2 years and then got married and have been married for 4 years. Owen’s son, TK Strand, and you hit it off pretty well. You treated him like a son and he treated you like a mother and he even started to call you mom and you were delighted. When you told them both that you were expecting they both were ecstatic and they treated you like a queen and still do. When you met Carlos Reyes, TK’s boyfriend, you didn’t judge them one bit and opened them with open arms, you even considered him a son.
“Babe, our son is calling to us.” You said already starting to wake up and he groaned.
“Who is taking this one?” Owen asked and you chuckled as he sat up and so did you.
“He called for both of us.” You said
“Well then we better get going.” He said as he was starting to push the covers back and you did the same.
“Mommy! Daddy!” Dakota said
“We’re coming, Bud!” Owen said as the both of you walked out of the room and down the hall and to his room. When you got there, he was sitting up and tear tracks were running down his cheeks and your heart broke.
“Kota, what’s wrong?” You asked coming over to sit on his bed and he crawled into your lap.
“I had a bad dream.” He said as he snuggled into your chest and you stroked his dark hair that he had got from his father, it was scary at how similar he looked to his father with almost no trace of you. Sometimes you were jealous but your husband was so good looking you didn’t mind it. You looked up at Owen and his face was one of sadness and worry.
“What was it about?” Owen asked as he came to kneel in front of the two of you.
“You and TK went into a building and you didn’t come out.” He said and your heart broke further.
“Oh, Bud. Your brother and I will always come back to you.” Owen said and he looked at him with his father’s eyes.
“Really?” He asked
“Really, they’re always super safe. You know why?” You asked and he looked up at you.
“Why, Momma?” He asked
“Because they love us and don’t want to leave us behind.” You said and sniffled and you wiped his eyes with your thumb.
“I wanna see TK and Carlos.” He said and you chuckled and smiled and Owen smiled.
“How about we see them for lunch before they go to work?” You asked
“Ok!” Dakota said happily.
“You have a few more hours before having to get up. Do you want to sleep here or with us?” Owen asked, running a hand through his son’s hair.
“You.” He said sleepily and you smiled.
“We can certainly make that happen.” You said “Up we go.” You said and started to stand up with him. You repositioned him to make it more comfortable on him and you. Dakota laid his head on your shoulder and started to fall back to sleep as you and Owen started the walk back to your room. Owen smiled at the sight. You sat down on the bed and laid your now sleeping child down on the bed in the middle as Owen went to his side and sat down and started to lay down. You made sure Dakota was comfortable and then you laid down. Owen and you both turned on your side to look at each other.
“This is the 4th night he has had this nightmare.” Owen whispered and you nodded.
“I know. I think there is something more to it.” You said and then yawned.
“We’ll figure it out now get some sleep. We’ll sort it out in the morning.” Owen said and you nodded.
“Sounds like a good plan.” You said and then you were closing your eyes and snuggling into your son. Owen stayed awake for a few minutes longer taking in the scene and thinking about how lucky he was to have you both, and TK as family. With those thoughts running through his head, he slipped off into sleep.
The next time you were waking up was when your alarm started to go off and you groaned and you quickly shut it off. You quickly noticed the lack of heat and little body that was snuggled into you all night and then when your hand met an empty bedside where your husband slept you weren’t too concerned. You knew Dakota was with his father and it only confirmed it when you started to smell something delicious coming from the kitchen that had you getting up and making your way there. When you got there your husband was standing behind your son as they stood over the stove, Owen making sure that Dakota didn't burn himself even if he did then he would be able to treat it. You smiled at the scene and thanked yourself for grabbing your phone before snapping pictures. “Do you think Mommy will like them?” Dakota asked and Owen smiled.
“I think anything you make for Mommy she's gonna love because she loves you.” He said and attacked him with kisses making him giggle a sound you both loved.
“This is the sight I love to see.” You said and they both turned around.
“Mommy!” Dakota shrieked “Down, Daddy.” He said and Owen helped him down and he ran to you. He jumped and thankfully you had fast reflexes and caught him.
“Hi, Baby. Are you helping daddy with breakfast?” You asked
“Uh huh.” He said nodding.
“Actually, it's almost ready. Carlos and TK should be over here any minute now.” Owen said
“Oh, I thought they were coming for lunch?” You asked
“They were but had something come up with afternoon and wanted to do breakfast.” Owen said
“Well, that's wonderful! I'm gonna go and get us ready for the day while you get everything ready.” You said
“Sounds wonderful.” He said and that's what you set out to do. Once you both were changed and teeth brushed there was a knock on the door and Dakota looked at you wide eyes.
“You know who that is?” You asked
“Carlos and TK!” He shouted and then he was rushing off to the door with you not far behind.
“Hey, no running.” Owen scolded as he got food onto plates.
“Sorry, Daddy.” He said as he reached the door and was about to open it before you stopped him.
“Hey, no opening the doors without one of us.” You said and he nodded and you grabbed the door handle and opened it.
“TK! CARLOS!” He shouted and rushed to them and TK picked him up.
“There's my little buddy.” He said and hugged him. “Hi, mom.” He said looking at you and you smiled.
“Hi, Baby.” You said and hugged him as Dakota was passed to Carlos.
“Hi, Mrs. Strand.” Carlos said as he hugged you as Dakota was quickly transferred to TK as he asked to be back in TK's who was heading into the kitchen with his little brother.
“Hi, Carlos. Please call me Y/N.” You said, chuckling as you released him.
“If you want.” He said smiling.
“Come on, the food is ready.” You said and then he was walking into the kitchen as you shut the door. You joined them in the kitchen. Dakota was talking TK's and Carlos’ ear off but they could care the least bit. Breakfast was eaten with some fun mixed in and many many laughs were thrown out. Carlos and TK stayed until they needed to leave which everyone was sad about but Dakota was the most upset about it, he loved his older brother even if they weren’t full brothers.
Lunch came and went and the rest of the time was spent with Owen cuddling his youngest son and cuddling you. You had him do some stuff that he needed to do that couldn’t and wouldn’t be able to do such as using the ladder. Yes, you were capable of using a ladder but Owen didn’t like it just because he wanted to keep you safe. Although you do get on there and he doesn’t know about it but what he doesn’t know what hurt him. Currently you were helping him pack his bag more like you were putting the clothes that Dakota was taking out back in. Dakota always struggled with his dad leaving but he usually got over it after a few hours he was gone. After about the fifth time Owen was getting frustrated. “Kota, daddy has to go to work.” He said.
“No, Daddy you stay.” He said looking up with puppy dog eyes and suddenly you knew it was because of the nightmare. So, you got to his level and made him look you in the eyes.
“Dakota, look at me.” You said and he did so.
“Daddy isn’t going to leave you neither is TK. They’re extra careful to come home to us. They have to go and save people’s lives. Ok, Baby?” You asked and he nodded and Owen got down to his level too.
“That’s right Buddy. We’ll always come home to you and Mommy.” Owen said and Dakota nodded.
“Ok.” He said and you both kissed him and got back to packing. Soon the packing was done with the help of Dakota instead of him disrupting the packing. Soon it was time for Owen to leave and after a very tearful goodbye from Dakota, Owen was kissing you and heading out the door. Dakota was still crying.
“Hey, it's ok. How about we call Daddy before you go to bed and we go see him tomorrow and bring him and TK some really tasty treats, hmmm?” You asked, looking at him and brushing his bangs to the side and wiping his eyes.
“Ok, Mommy.” He said and you smiled and kissed his forehead.
“Now what do you want to take to him and TK?” You asked, still holding him and walking into the living room.
“Pie. No cheesecake. No cookies!” He said and you chuckled.
“How about all three or we make the pie or cheesecake for us and send the cookies to them?” You asked
“I like that idea, Mommy.” He said and you smiled and kissed his cheek.
“Very well then let’s get to it.” You said and set him down while you got all the ingredients. You and Dakota started to put ingredients together and soon after about 3 hours of baking you had everything baked and cooling down ready to be packaged to take to the firehouse tomorrow. “Alright, what do you want to eat?” You asked him already knowing the answer.
“Chicken nuggets and fries!” He said excitedly and you chuckled.
“Of course, how could I forget?” You asked not expecting an answer but got a giggle back. You turned to the stove and got the air fryer going “Hey, why don’t you go wash up and then go watch something?” You asked and he looked at you.
“Ok, Momma.” He said and scurried off while you started getting the fries and chicken nuggets out and waited for the oven to preheat before putting everything in and setting it for the time required. Soon you were hearing the TV turning on and some kids show queuing up. Soon the food was done and you were putting the food on plates and grabbing the ketchup and drinks and heading into the living room.
“We don’t tell daddy about this.” You said “It’s our secret.” You said and he nodded, taking it very seriously.
“Our secret.” He said and then started to eat snuggling up against you. Soon you both were done eating and now it was time for him to start winding down and head off to bed. It wouldn’t take that long considering his eyes were already drooping. Your phone started to vibrate in your pocket and you got it and saw it was a facetime from Owen and you smiled and answered it.
“Hey, Honey.” Owen said keeping his voice quiet and you could see he was in his office.
“Hey, Baby.” You replied
“Kota still up?” He asked
“Barley.” You said and showed him his son.
“Hi, Buddy.” Owen said and that stirred him a little.
“Hi, Daddy.” He said in a sleepy quiet voice.
“Did you have a good day with your mom?” He asked and you nodded.
“We made sweets.” He said and rubbed his eye.
“You did? What kind?” Owen asked and Dakota looked at you.
“Strawberry cheesecake, apple pie, and chocolate chip peanut butter cookies.” You said
“Oh, I’m so jealous.” Owen said “I wish I was there to eat it all.” He said and Dakota chuckled and then yawned. “You get some sleep. I’ll see you in a few days. I love you.” He said.
“Love you too, Daddy.” He said and then you turned the phone to face you.
“Goodnight, Babe. We’re planning to make a trip up there at some point. You ok with that?” You asked
“Always. Goodnight, Honey. I love you.” He said
“I love you too.” You said and then you both were hanging up the phone. You looked down and found Dakota sound asleep.
“Out like a light.” You said and got up and carefully picked him up and walked him to his room and tucked him in and bent down and kissed his head. “Goodnight, Baby. I love you.” You said and made sure his night light was on and walked out of his room cracking his door. You went back to the living room and cleaned up and turned on a show that you had been watching and watched it until your eyes were drooping and you were headed to bed.
The next morning you were waking up to your son crawling into the bed with you. “Mommy?” He asked.
“Yes, Kota?” You asked
“We go and see Daddy and TK today?” He asked and you smiled and pushed the hair out of his eyes.
“Of course, Baby. Let’s get dressed and brush our teeth then we can pack up the sweets and head that way.” You said and he nodded and he was scrambling to get off your bed and do what he was told. You chuckled and shook your head and did the same. Once you were changed into jeans and one of Owen’s hoodies you went and checked on him and found him dressed similarly, jeans and a hoodie. “You ready?” You asked and he nodded and the both of you went into the kitchen and packed the food up and put it in a bag. You headed for the door with your bag and grabbed your purse and keys. “Remember to hold my hand while we are crossing the street and in crowded places.” You said and he nodded.
“I remember, Momma.” He said and you smiled. He was so much like his dad. You arrived at the elevator and let him press the button and it instantly opened and you both stepped in and let him press the button that you told him too. You quickly arrived at the lobby and you held out his hand for his and he took it. You walked out of the building and to your car you put the food beside his car seat and then strapped him in. You got in and turned the car on and headed off to the station. The car ride was filled with laughter and signing. When you arrived the firetruck and ambulance were just rolling in.
“Hey, there’s daddy.” You said and he looked out the window excitedly. He was always amazed by the firetrucks and ambulances. You parked the car beside Owen’s truck and waited until everyone was pulled in and out before you got out. Once they were in the garage you got out and saw Judd walking over. “Hey, Judd.” You said and smiled and started for Dakota’s door.
“Hey, Y/N. Need any help?” He asked and you smiled at him.
“Actually yes. I have some sweets beside his car seat. Do you mind grabbing it?” You asked
“Yes ma’am.” He said and opened the door.
“Judd!” Dakota shrieked as you opened the door and started to unbuckle him.
“Hey, Bud! How are you?” He asked
“Good! We’re seeing daddy.” He said and you chuckled and smiled.
“You are? I know he will be happy to see you.” He said as you finished getting him out and picking him up as Judd grabbed the bag and walked around the car after shutting the door and you locked the car.
“Yea!” He shouted and the two of you started to walk in and he spotted TK. “TK!” He shouted and wiggled and you put him down and he ran to his big brother who easily caught him. You stared at the sight for a second smiling and then you and Judd walked over to the table and began to put the desserts on the table. A pair of arms slinked around your waist.
“Fancy seeing you here.” Owen said and you smiled.
“I told you that we would be coming to see you.” You said as you turned around in his arms and the others gathered around.
“Daddy!” Dakota shouted and that made him turn around and come face to face with TK holding Dakota and he reached for him and he took him.
“Hi, Buddy.” He said and he wrapped his little arms around his father’s neck.
“I heard desserts were brought.” Mateo said and you chuckled.
“That would be correct. We have strawberry cheesecake, apple pie, and chocolate chip peanut butter cookies.” You said
“Marry me.” Matteo said and everyone laughed.
“Sorry, she’s already taken.” Owen said and everyone laughed again.
“Dig in!” You said and everyone did as you stood back with Owen and your son as you watched your other children fulfill themselves on the desserts.
“How did I get so lucky to have you two in my life?” Owen said and you chuckled and kissed his cheek.
“Thank Grace for that.” You said and he chuckled.
“Hey, Dakota, do you want some?” Marjan asked, looking over at him.
“Can I, Daddy?” Dakota asked
“If it is ok with your mom.” He said
“It’s alright with me.” You said
“Yay!” Dakota shouted and then Owen was walking over to the table. You smiled looking at the scene. TK walked over and stood next to you holding two plates with a slice of apple pie and handed one to you.
“Thank you.” You said
“You’re welcome. So, what made you decide to come down?” He asked
“Well, a little someone wanted to see his daddy and big brother.” You said and TK smiled.
“He’s such a good kid.” He said and you smiled.
“He is and so are you.” You said bringing an arm to pull him in a side hug and he smiled and laid his head on your shoulder.
“Thanks, Mom.” He said and you kissed his head.
“You’re welcome.” You said and then he was getting called away leaving you to stare ahead smiling while you ate your pie.
You don’t know how you got so lucky but you were glad you did. You got a good husband, two good sons and a lot of extended family, who act like kids sometimes but you wouldn’t trade them for anything or ask for anyone better. You were happy with your family.

✦ pairing - David Coulthard x female!reader
✦ genre - fluff, it's super long
The sun blazed over the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the Spanish GP weekend bringing with it a flurry of excitement and a hint of drama. The Channel 4 studio, situated just a stone's throw away from the roaring engines and fervent fans, was abuzz with activity. Today’s broadcast was set to be a special one, with a panel that included the ever-charismatic Steve Jones, the insightful Mark Webber, the perpetually sunny Y/N, and the seasoned yet curmudgeonly David Coulthard.
As the broadcast started, the camaraderie among the presenters was palpable. Steve’s easy banter with Mark, Y/N’s radiant smile, and David’s focused demeanor created a vibrant atmosphere. But beneath the surface, a storm was brewing, and it was centered around one driver: Logan Sargeant.
"Welcome back to Channel 4’s coverage of the Spanish GP," Steve announced, his tone light and engaging. "Today, we’re diving into the ongoing debate about Logan Sargeant’s performance and treatment at Williams."
Y/N’s eyes sparkled with conviction. "Logan has been showing real potential. I think he’s been treated unfairly by the team. There’s been a lack of support and consistency that’s holding him back."
David’s jaw tightened. "I disagree. Logan’s had his chances, but performance is what matters. If he’s not delivering, it’s on him, not just the team."
The debate began as a friendly discussion but quickly escalated. Y/N leaned in, her voice tinged with frustration. "David, you’re not seeing the bigger picture here. It’s not just about raw numbers. It’s about how the team supports their drivers. Logan’s been left out to dry. His car has old part, now how can we expect him to perform with a carboard box of a car?"
David’s eyes narrowed, his gruff exterior barely concealing his irritation. "And you’re not seeing that F1 is cutthroat. It’s not a charity. If you can’t perform, you’re out. Logan needs to step up or accept the consequences."
Y/N’s face flushed with determination, her smile fading into a serious frown. "And if the support isn’t there, how can we expect him to perform at his best? It’s a two-way street, David."
Steve and Mark exchanged glances, sensing the conversation was veering into dangerously heated territory. David’s voice had taken on an edge, and Y/N’s passionate rebuttals only fueled the fire.
Mark tried to interject, his voice calm yet firm. "We should consider all aspects of the situation. It’s not just about one side or the other."
But Y/N was undeterred, her eyes locked onto David’s with an intensity that made the air around them crackle. "David, you’re so focused on the individual performance that you’re ignoring the broader context. It’s not all black and white."
David’s response was equally intense, his voice low and controlled. "And you’re romanticizing a situation that’s as harsh as it gets. It’s a tough world out there, and Logan needs to toughen up."
The atmosphere between them was electric, the debate clearly bordering on something far more personal. There was an unspoken tension that neither was willing to acknowledge, their bickering laced with a charged energy that was palpable.
Steve, sensing the imminent danger of the situation escalating further, stepped in with practiced ease. "Alright, alright, let’s take a breather here. We’ll cut to a quick ad break and come back to this. Everyone, stay tuned. This debate isn’t over yet."
As the camera cut to an ad, the studio fell into a brief, uneasy silence. Y/N and David exchanged lingering glances, each trying to process the conversation that had just transpired. The spark between them was undeniable, yet neither was willing to confront it head-on, leaving the air thick with unresolved tension.
The Spanish GP weekend was just beginning, and so was the ongoing drama between two of Channel 4’s most passionate presenters.
--
The roar of the crowd, the smell of burning rubber, and the adrenaline of race day continued as usual. The Spanish GP had unfolded with its typical thrills and spills, but the tension between Y/N and David lingered in the air, unseen by the millions of viewers who had tuned in.
As the race concluded and the coverage wrapped up, the Channel 4 team began to disperse. Y/N found herself in the media center, reviewing her notes. Her mind, however, was far from the race results.
Why does he always have to be so stubborn? she thought, her pen tapping rhythmically against her notebook. David Coulthard, of all people. The way he looks at me, it's like he’s trying to see right through me. But it's just work, right? It has to be. He couldn't possibly feel the same way.
David, meanwhile, was in a quiet corner of the paddock, sipping on a bottle of water. His eyes were fixed on the horizon, but his mind was replaying the earlier argument.
Why does she get under my skin so easily? he wondered, rubbing his temples. Y/N, with her sunshine smile and relentless optimism. She’s so passionate about everything. I can’t let her know how much I actually admire that about her. She probably thinks I’m just a grumpy old man. If only she knew how I really felt.
Y/N gathered her things and made her way towards the exit, her thoughts still tangled with the events of the day. He probably thinks I’m naive, she mused. Always arguing, never agreeing. But every time we debate, there’s something more. I can’t be imagining this. Can I?
David spotted her from across the paddock and hesitated for a moment before striding over. He cleared his throat, trying to keep his voice steady. “Y/N, can we talk?”
She turned, surprised by his presence but masking it with a small, polite smile. “Sure, David. What’s on your mind?”
He shifted uncomfortably, searching for the right words. “I wanted to say, about earlier… I didn’t mean to come across so harshly. We both care about the sport, just in different ways.”
Y/N nodded, her heart pounding. Is he trying to apologize? “I know, David. We both get passionate about these things. It’s what makes us good at our jobs. I respect that about you.”
David’s eyes softened, and for a brief moment, his guard dropped. “It’s more than just respect, Y/N. You challenge me, push me to think differently. I… I admire that.”
Her breath caught in her throat. Did he just say he admires me? “Thank you, David. That means a lot coming from you. I… I feel the same way. You always push me to be better, to see things from a different perspective.”
A silence fell between them, charged with the weight of unspoken feelings. David looked into her eyes, willing himself to take the next step. Tell her, you idiot. Just tell her.
Y/N’s heart raced, her thoughts a whirlwind. This is it. Maybe he feels the same way. Just say it.
But before either could speak, Steve Jones appeared, breaking the moment. “There you two are! We’re heading to the team dinner. You coming?”
David and Y/N exchanged a fleeting look, their silent conversation interrupted. David nodded slowly. “Yeah, we’ll be there in a minute.”
As Steve walked away, Y/N sighed softly. “I guess we should join them.”
David nodded, a trace of frustration in his eyes. “Yeah, I guess we should.”
As they walked towards the exit, their hands brushed briefly, sending a jolt of electricity through both of them. The unspoken words hung heavy in the air, but for now, they remained just that—unspoken.
One day, David thought, glancing at Y/N. One day, I’ll find the courage.
One day, Y/N echoed silently. One day, I’ll tell him how I feel.
But today was not that day. For now, they walked side by side, their hearts full of words that only they could hear.

Title: The Unspoken Truths
The post-race atmosphere in the Red Bull hospitality suite was buzzing with excitement. Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez were lounging, sharing a few laughs about the day's events. David Coulthard, usually engrossed in race discussions, seemed unusually distant, his eyes frequently drifting toward Y/N, who was chatting with Steve Jones on the other side of the room.
Max nudged Checo, a sly grin on his face. "Hey, have you noticed how David keeps looking over at Y/N? It's like he's trying to solve a puzzle."
Checo chuckled, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, he’s definitely got it bad. It’s almost painful to watch."
David, catching their words but pretending not to, tried to focus on the conversation. Yet, his gaze betrayed him, lingering on Y/N as she laughed at something Steve said.
Across the room, Steve had taken Y/N aside, his expression a mix of concern and amusement. "Y/N, we need to talk."
Y/N tilted her head, curiosity piqued. "What’s up, Steve?"
Steve sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Look, it's time to cut the horseshit with David. Everyone on the team has noticed the tension between you two. It’s getting old, and frankly, it’s affecting all of us."
Y/N’s eyes widened in surprise. "What do you mean? We’re just… we clash, that’s all."
Steve shook his head, a soft smile on his lips. "It’s more than that, and you know it. There’s something between you two that’s been left unsaid for too long. It’s obvious to everyone except you and David."
Y/N’s cheeks flushed, a mix of embarrassment and realization dawning on her. "I didn’t think it was that noticeable."
Steve chuckled, his tone gentle but firm. "Trust me, it is. And it's not just the bickering. It’s the way you look at each other when you think no one’s watching. There’s something real there, Y/N. Something worth figuring out."
Y/N sighed, her defenses slowly crumbling. "I guess I’ve been too scared to face it. I thought it was one-sided."
Steve’s eyes softened with understanding. "You’re not alone in that. But you both need to stop hiding behind your arguments and face whatever it is you’re feeling. We’re all here for you, but you’ve got to take the first step."
Back in the Red Bull suite, Max and Checo were still observing David with amused curiosity. Max leaned over, his voice low and teasing. "David, you know, staring at her like that isn’t going to solve anything."
David tore his gaze away from Y/N, looking at Max with a mixture of irritation and resignation. "I know. It's just… complicated."
Checo raised an eyebrow. "Complicated or you’re just making it complicated?"
David sighed, his tough exterior cracking. "It’s not easy, alright? We argue all the time, and I thought it was just because we’re so different."
Max’s expression softened, a rare moment of empathy shining through. "Sometimes, those arguments mean there’s something deeper. You should talk to her. Really talk to her."
David nodded, feeling a weight lifting off his shoulders. "Maybe you’re right."

The evening sky over Barcelona was a beautiful canvas of twilight hues, the stars beginning to peek through as the noise of the day’s race faded into a distant hum. The Red Bull hospitality suite was winding down, with only a few stragglers remaining. David Coulthard found himself on the balcony, the cool breeze doing little to calm the storm of emotions within him.
Y/N stepped out onto the balcony, her footsteps soft against the tiled floor. She paused for a moment, taking in the sight of David leaning against the railing, lost in thought. Steeling herself, she walked over and stood beside him, the tension between them palpable.
"David," she began, her voice a tentative whisper. "We need to talk."
David straightened, his eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that took her breath away. "Yeah, we do."
The silence stretched between them, filled with unspoken words and unresolved feelings. Y/N took a deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest. "I’ve been avoiding this for too long. Steve… he told me to cut the horseshit. Said everyone’s noticed the tension between us."
David’s jaw tightened, his gaze never wavering. "Max and Checo said the same. They can see it too. I thought I was the only one feeling this way."
Y/N’s eyes widened, the weight of his words sinking in. "You mean… you’ve felt it too? All this time?"
David nodded, his expression a mix of frustration and vulnerability. "Every time we argue, every time we’re near each other, there’s this spark. This tension. I thought it was just me, reading too much into it."
Y/N stepped closer, the distance between them shrinking. "I thought it was one-sided. I thought you just… couldn’t stand me."
David let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. "It’s not that I can’t stand you, Y/N. It’s that I can’t stand how much you get under my skin. How much I care, even when we’re arguing."
Y/N’s breath hitched, her heart aching at the raw honesty in his voice. "I care too, David. More than I wanted to admit. I was scared that if I acknowledged it, it would ruin everything."
David reached out, his hand trembling slightly as he took hers. "We’ve both been scared. Scared of what this could mean. But maybe it’s time we stop running from it."
Y/N’s eyes filled with unshed tears, her voice barely above a whisper. "What if it changes everything? What if it makes things worse?"
David gently cupped her cheek, his touch sending shivers down her spine. "Sometimes, you have to take a risk. Sometimes, the things worth having are the hardest to fight for. And I think you’re worth fighting for, Y/N."
Y/N leaned into his touch, her heart soaring at his words. "I think you’re worth fighting for too, David."
As the night deepened, the stars above them seemed to shine brighter, the world around them fading away. The tension that had once kept them apart now drew them closer, their hearts finally in sync.
David leaned in, his forehead resting against hers. "No more pretending. No more hiding."
Y/N nodded, her eyes closing as she savored the moment. "Together. We face this together."
David leaned in closer, his breath mingling with hers, their foreheads still touching as the world around them seemed to hold its breath. With a tender hesitance, he tilted his head, their lips finally meeting in a kiss that was soft and tentative at first, then deepening with the intensity of all their unspoken words. As they kissed, the night sky above them erupted in a dazzling display of fireworks, the vibrant colors reflecting the newfound clarity and passion in their hearts.
The bursts of light and sound seemed to celebrate their courage and the beginning of something beautiful, marking the end of their fears and the start of a shared journey. In each other's arms, beneath the exploding sky, they found the promise of a love worth fighting for.
Please you guys need to read this and demand part 2!!!
Alessandro Fusaro x Fem!Reader (she/her) Where taking your niece to a race has an unexpected, very stressful (but eventually very welcome) outcome.
Warnings: None! Maybe some brief talks of the dreaded emotions!! (also probably some bad Italian translations 😅)
Ember's Notes: I really hope you like this one @pear-1206 because I actually loved writing it so much oml 🫶🫶
(I left it kind of open ended so if there’s a decent demand for it, I can write a part two that focuses mainly on the pairing)
For as long as you could remember, your family had been staunch Ferrari supporters. You had been part of the Tifosi for your whole life. It was something that you had found so much joy in, being able to cheer and root for the same team as the rest of your family. Which is why you had asked your younger brother if you could take your 7 year old niece, Gianna, to the Imola Grand Prix. He had told you a few months ago that he was trying to get Gianna to be a Ferrari fan (a fan of motorsport in general) but it was turning out to be tough work.
Originally your father had planned to take you with him, but given the circumstances, he had told you to take Gianna. So you brought it up to your brother and his wife. Your sister-in-law had been worried that something might happen to Gianna (and you of course) but she swiftly agreed to let you take her daughter when you promised to facetime every morning and every night that you were away. All that was left to do was to tell Gianna that she would get to spend a whole weekend with her Zia Y/n. [Auntie]
A few weeks have gone by and it was finally time for you to introduce your niece to the world of Formula One. You hoped that she would have fun, especially given just how excited she was when her parents told her about the trip. You desperately didn’t want that excitement to have been for nothing.
“How long will we take this weekend, Zia?” You heard her ask from the backseat of your car, your beloved 1959 Fiat 500. Your car had been another thing that Gianna was excited about for the weekend, as you usually only drove it around on special occasions.
“We’re going to be here all weekend, Bambina. Nonno was kind enough to get us passes into the garage for the whole weekend.” You told her. [Baby] [Grandpa]
“Are we going to meet important people?” She asked, twiddling with her thumbs timidly. You became worried as this was so far away from how she usually was.
“Mmm, I’m not sure Fiore. Why? Are you nervous?” [Flower]
“Un po’” [A little bit]
Your heart melted and seized simultaneously. You reassured her that being nervous was normal, because she had never gone to a race weekend before. Wanting to see her smile again, you offered to teach her about who was who in the paddock as soon as you settled into your hotel room. Gianna quickly agreed and was back to her vibrant, excited self in no time.
Walking into the paddock on Friday morning was a feeling that you would happily get used to. Gianna had asked if you could try and get there earlier than all the drivers. When you asked, she told you that she still wasn’t 100% confident about who was who, despite spending well over an hour the night before looking up pictures and matching them to names. Gianna said that by getting there earlier than the others, the two of you could find a nice spot somewhere near the entrance where you could point and tell her who was walking through.
Thinking about it, you couldn’t fault her logic. So here you were bright and early. You had arrived with enough time to buy some breakfast and find a nicely shaded spot where you could settle in while you waited. Gianna had insisted that you both sit at a table that was both directly opposite the paddock entrance and under a rather large tree. Sitting down you gave Gianna her breakfast, a freshly toasted bacon and egg croissant, and made sure that she was drinking enough water from her Cars themed bottle. Similarly you also began to eat your own croissant while you sipped your scalding hot coffee.
Gianna spoke to you about what she was most excited for this weekend while you both ate. Occasionally someone would walk through the entrance that she recognised. You were surprised just how often she had noticed someone that you mentioned the previous night. So far she had pointed out some drivers, a few of the team principals and the occasional mechanic or engineer.
When Hannah Schmidt had walked through though, Gianna had nearly fallen off her seat as she pointed and told you that she had recognised and remembered the iconic woman. Said woman had heard Gianna excitedly cry and she had smiled and waved at your niece as she walked to the Red Bull garage.
You smiled when you noticed that Hannah had waved at Gianna. Happy that this trip was definitely living up to what you had promised your niece. Seeing that the two of you had long since stopped eating, you packed away your rubbish and cleaned up the area you had been sitting.
“Should we walk around for a bit, Gigi? Stretch our legs a little?”
“Yes please, Zia.”
So you packed away your things and threw away your rubbish in a nearby bin. You held Gianna’s hand and walked around for a bit as you didn’t need to be in the garage for a little while still.
Walking around the paddock with your niece made sure to point out all the things she thought were interesting. You were giving her little tidbits of information throughout the whole walk, about a bunch of things that had to do with motorsport. Granted most of the information was directly about Ferrari but hey, you were trying to induct a brand new member of the Tifosi.
Unbeknownst to you, just as you were starting to tell Gianna about the extensive history of Ferrari, a member of the Scuderia Ferrari media team had strolled past you and had heard you speaking about Enzo Ferrari. They had quickly turned around and you found yourself being approached by a small media team no less than 2 minutes later.
“Hi, I’m Sophia. I’m part of Ferrari’s media team, I was just wondering if we could film you answering some Ferrari related questions for a youtube video?”
Having not expected this change of events at all, but also knowing you wouldn’t get another chance, you agreed to let them film you. So long, of course, that they didn’t get Gianna’s face in the shot. As they started to set their equipment, you gently kneeled next to your niece and asked her to stay within a few metres of you so that she wouldn’t get lost.
“Te lo prometto Zia!” [I promise Auntie!]
“Bene.” [Good.]
As you stood up they told you that they were ready to film when you were. Giving them the go ahead they pressed record and started asking you questions. First general questions about Formula One but soon they started to ask more obscure questions about Ferrari specifically. You smiled and gave as many answers as you could. Which was a lot. Later when the video would come out, a lot of people would comment that had you not introduced yourself at the beginning they’d’ve thought you were related to Enzo himself.
The questions had ended after almost twenty minutes. Sophia had apologised because she wasn’t aware how long that would take but you assured her it was no problem at all. You readjusted your shoulder bag and went to grab Gianna’s hand, only to not see her where she was supposed to be standing.
“Gianna?” you called, trying not to panic. She was right beside you, where could she have gone?
“Gigi?! Fiore, this isn’t funny!” you tried to call out again. “Zia’s getting really worried!”
Having already excused yourself from the media team next to you, disregarding their shocked and worried looks, you quickly started walking around trying to find your niece. Walking towards the end of the paddock you kept calling out for her, hoping that someone would take pity on you and help you look. Thankfully you had taken a “fit check” photo with her this morning, meaning that when you went up to people asking if they’d seen her, you could show them a picture of what she was wearing that day.
Too many people had said they’d not seen her at all for you to be comfortable. You were starting to get frantic when another 10 minutes had gone by. There was no way you were returning home without your niece. You’d turn into Liam Neeson if you found out that someone had taken her. Speed walking past the Ferrari garage, you finally heard the sound you had needed to hear.
Gianna’s giggles.
Letting her giggling lead you to her, you ended up in the garage where you needed to be for the beginning of the practise sessions. Looking around for Gianna, you noticed that one of the mechanics was crouching down but not facing the car at all. Walking closer you finally saw that the mechanic was entertaining you niece, whose face was lit up with the biggest smile you had ever seen.
Emotions washed over you like a tsunami. She hadn’t been taken. Tears welled up in your eyes at the utter relief you felt finally knowing that she had been safe the whole time.
Rushing over to her, you quickly scooped her up into a hug, wrapping your arms around her tightly.
“Gianna! Mia cara ragazza, non hai idea di quanto fossi preoccupato! I thought someone had taken you away and you were lost forever! Sono così felice che tu stia bene!” By now your tears had begun falling down your face. [My darling girl, you have no idea how worried I was!] [I’m so glad you’re okay!]
“Zia! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to break my promise but someone pushed into me and I fell and when I got up again I couldn’t see you and then I bumped into Alessandro and he asked me why I was crying and so I told him that I couldn’t see you and that we were supposed to go to the Ferrari garage for practise so he made sure I got here without anyone else pushing me!” She rushed to tell you everything that had led to this moment. You finally let go of her, moving your hands to stroke the hair away from her face. In the back of your mind you noted that she had bumped into Charles Leclerc’s head mechanic, but that could be focussed on later.
“It’s okay Principessa. You found help, I’m proud of you. I was just worried when I couldn’t see you, that's all.” You said, finally able to wipe your own tears off of your face. “Did you say thank you to Mr. Fusaro?”
Alessandro decided to cut in before Gianna could tell you that she had indeed said thank you. “Please, there’s no need for thank you’s. I didn’t want her to get more lost or upset.”
Standing up, you gently placed a hand on Gianna’s shoulder as you faced the man in front of you. “I must insist, you just saved me from a horrible phone call with my sister-in-law.”
You both chuckled a little as you spoke. He brushed you off again saying he loved hanging out with Ferrari’s biggest little fan.
“Zia, he has a tattoo! It’s so cool!” Seeing Alessandro get a bit bashful when your niece spoke made you curious, but you decided to not bring a lot of attention to that.
“Does he?” You said. Of course you already knew. Being part of the Tifosi for as long as you had, Alessandro’s Guido tattoo was common knowledge. Funnily enough it was one of the questions Sophia had asked you. Which ferrari mechanic has an iconic tattoo and what is the tattoo? It was your favourite question to answer as it allowed you to bring up your precious Fiat 500 that you had named Luigi after the Fiat from the Cars movie. It technically also allowed you to bring up your own tattoo which was, again, based on Luigi from Cars. Not that you did bring it up. You’d never hear the end of it from your father.
“Uhuh! It’s a red Guido from the same movie as yours!” Trust your innocent niece to blurt to all Ferrari that you also had a Cars themed tattoo.
Alessandro was now less bashful and more intrigued about your tattoo.
“The same movie as yours?” He asked.
You chuckled and continued to smooth out Gianna’s hair as you faced Alessandro. “Yeah, a few years ago, maybe a month before Gianna was born, I got a tattoo of Luigi from Cars. In a pale red instead of the usual yellow.”
Gianna nodded her head quickly and began to excitedly tell him all about how the first movie she had ever watched with you was Cars and how it had become your thing together.
All too quickly time caught up and it was soon time for Alessandro to go back to work. Gianna had deflated a little at the knowledge but she perked up again when Alessandro had said that he would try and talk to them again after both practise sessions had finished.
“After all,” he said, kneeling in front of her but looking up at you, “I’d love to get to know you better.”
I actually love this so much (When I get back home, I'll be making a new masterlist for the non-drivers that I'm gonna be writing for) ((also, while i’m away from my computer i’m gonna be typing up some dusty requests and maybe some drafts as well on my phone so please excuse any irregular formatting i’ll try and fix them before i post them))
this is also being posted a lot later than i initially thought it would be. i had planned for it to be posted before Monaco but 😅 (also something will be coming for the monaco race but i want it to be perfect so it might be a while before that comes to light)
