RAFAEL SILVA on the set of 911: LONE STAR Season 5
Lucas considers this. He's been in a lot of the woods around town but hasn't come across a tree like that. Of course, that's not at all surprising. Still, it has him thinking.
"Okay," he says, focusing back on Elm. "That's good. Was there anything else?"
He gives her a small smile.
ELM CONSIDERS THE QUESTION FOR A MOMENT BEFORE SHRUGGING . " it's the only thing i remember ." elm wonders if that's enough to make it notable . there's another beat of thought where their head tilts before they're adding a, " there was a moon over it ." their brows furrow a bit . " it was full and ..." a thoughtful pause before elm is making a round gesture with their hands . " the tree was by itself . in a circle, like this ."
Adrien shrugs it off.
"You're probably the least scariest thing I've seen in the past 24 hours."
He steps aside and let's the woman — Erin — in.
"So how can I help you, Miss Erin? I'm not fully trained in where everything is yet, but I do know how to fix things."
He moves to a desk and tries to look all official, even with his ear-to-ear grin.
seeing someone she doesn't immediately recognize sets her on edge. maybe because of the storm, or because it just spells newcomer - neither of which she's particularly thrilled about. more people meant more people to potentially loose to them. so her face isn't exactly one of cheer when he answers the door for her; instead, its probably the exact opposite, stuck in some kind of look of sympathy and pained. "sorry for scaring you," her voice is quiet, as it is most often, and remains sympathetic to his plight. she was plenty scared her first days here too... doesn't like to think of it. "i'm erin."
Adrien chuckles.
"Trust me, I've seen messier. My cousin Mack threw a party in the barn when Aunt Kay and Uncle Don were out of town. Looked like a tornado of bulls went through it."
If it's El's, then it's probably best he doesn't touch it without talking to them first. Instead, he starts helping Noah clean.
"I mean besides the murderous monsters that come out at night, it's not so bad here," Adrien says. "I'm meeting some cool people I never would've back home."
Noah nodded slowly when Adrien said El had sent him to check on things. That made sense. “Cool! Yeah, things are… messy.” He gestured to the mess of the garage. He had tried to pick up the mess as best he could, anyway. “But it’s getting there.”
He turned to look at the car on the lift that caught Adrien’s attention. “I’m sure that’s El. I’m not sure, though. It’s not mine, that’s all I know.” He wasn’t the most detail oriented, unless it was something he was directly in charge of.
“How are you finding it here so far?”
Lucas grunts, hating that he knows she's right.
"I can't just sit around, Becca. I've got a job to do. People are in danger out there."
He nods at the suggestion of a brace. At least then the pain will be contained.
"Just do it. Jim is probably wondering where I am."
He'd lost his radio somewhere out there which really was the cherry on top of this shithole cake of a day.
based on what he could tolerate, it was definitely a bad twist. even as she was testing his ankle, she could feel where it was starting to swell and get stiff. "that depends, lucas; how far can you get around on it? do you want to try to stand, or wait?"
becca could only guess at this point. her expertise was mostly in the aftermath of lingering injuries, not diagnosing or treating new ones. "i'll try to make a brace either way, but you know it won't heal right without rest."
Adrien gives her a warm smile and even gives her a slight bow in return.
"Well you look great, Miss Maude. Taking a break or trying to psych yourself up to join the fray."
He tilts his head towards the dancing.
waiting for one of her two anchors to return, maude had not been seen at the party without her closest friends. perhaps she should have attended as an unobtrusive observer, a fly on the wall since her behavior certainly suggested as much. a natural observer, she hung back shyly, avoiding eye contact and keeping to herself rather than immersing in the festivities. it wasn’t that she lacked friendliness; rather, her anxiety was palpable in the presence of so many people gathered in one place—an inevitable hazard for the town.
“adrien?” she echoed, tentatively extending her hand for a gentle shake. “i’m maude, the scarecrow—” she said, gesturing to her costume. “i’ve been around for a little while, just six months,” she added as an explanation. “i’m the socially awkward one of the trio.” with an awkward, scarecrow-like curtsy, she inquired, “are you enjoying yourself?”
where: outside, wherever when: day after the storm open starter
Lucas walks down the street, taking note of all the damage from the storm. So much to fix. It's starting to feel like it would be better just to rebuild the whole town from scratch.
He turns a corner and has to put his list away.
"Hey!" he calls out to the person. "You need help over there?"
Task 002
Lucas lives in a residential house, one of the few that want to be alone.
Well, he doesn't want to be alone, but he is. Even after 7 years, his house doesn't feel anything like him. It's furnished as all residential houses are: simple, clean, all the necessities but no personality or charm. While it's not empty, it feels lonely. Like there isn't enough life moving inside it to make it feel like a home.
There are little touches of him: books left on tables, dishes in the sink, plants that he's trying to keep alive. But overall, it seems like one of the empty houses on the street, ready for some new unfortunate soul to move in.
The places he's more clearly left an imprint are the sheriff's offices and the homes of his friends. He's more interested in making the town his home rather than his house. Because then maybe he might not feel so alone.
