I see a lot of people claim that keeping dangerous exotic animals is just an American problem, but it's also a big issue in the UK and across Europe.

These animals can be far too easy to get hold of. There used to be a pet shop near me that had rattlesnakes, pit vipers, king cobras and a caiman for sale. While you do need a DWA licence to own certain species in the UK, including venomous snakes, these licences can be fairly easy and cheap to get depending on what area you live in (different councils have different licencing rules).

For so-called non-dangerous exotic animals, such as foxes, skunks and meerkats, there are no restrictions on ownership. Anyone can go out and buy one and these animals can even be sold openly in pet shops (I've seen meerkats for sale in a pet shop before). Many of these animals end up either suffering due to insufficient care or being abandoned or euthanised when they become too much to handle. It's a huge problem in the UK that few people are actually aware of.

It should 100% be illegal for companies to make you give them your payment information when you sign up for a free trial version of their product. It is not necessary and there is no good fucking reason for them to do it. It’s blatantly just so they can steal forgetful customers’ money.
