Everyone talks about how Millennials already have picked up grandparent hobbies. We knit, garden, whittle, and bake bread. I think this is because we’ve already been through so much in such a short time. We’re exhausted. All we want to do is wrap ourselves in a sweater, sit in the garden, and watch our plants grow.
Watching your world slowly collapse around you is painful. Having no one to be there with you is unbearable.
I think it's depressing how attached we as people get to material things. We horde and store objects like they're loved ones or cherished memories. The biggest problem is that we can't help it. I love my things (at least most of them) and have trouble letting anything go because it either reminds me of something or I'm sure that I'll get to it in the future and when I do life will be better forever.
It's depressing and the fact that it's depressing is even more depressing.
At the Doctor Who themed wedding I was in this weekend was a collapsable Tardis I designed to be build by myself and the other groomsmen. It took most of the summer to build but was worth it to see the bride freak out by the surprise.
Side note- It took all summer because I appeared to be the only groomsmen who new how to use basic tools... so it was a building experience in more ways than one.
Chicago Has gotten almost 60 inches of snow this winter, close to three times our average 22 inches. Gotten the car stuck at least 5 times already and I'm sure we've got at least another 45 days of this.
Really considering a move to a better climate (or at least one with better road plows).
For us here in Chicago spring has finally arrived. I know it's almost May but here it seems like we have been cut back to only two seasons, winter and summer with maybe two weeks of fall and spring (if we're lucky). So with hopefully just three or four more days of 30 degree weather left, it's time to break out the camping gear!
Me (Jake) and my girlfriend Allison live in a one bedroom apartment in the city with our cat Turd Ferguson (Turdie for short). Even though there's a park across the street it doesn't fulfill the desire we get to be outside. This is a blog for us to share our outdoor experiences and love of nature. Enjoy!
I live for the outdoors but pound the city pavement. My wife and I wish our cat and dog would get along.
