it's funny although a little exasperating how artists designing "princess" or medieval-esque gowns really do not understand how those types of clothes are constructed. We're all so used to modern day garments that are like... all sewn together in one layer of cloth, nobody seems to realize all of the bits and pieces were actually attached in layers.

So like look at this mid-1400's fit:

It's Funny Although A Little Exasperating How Artists Designing "princess" Or Medieval-esque Gowns Really
It's Funny Although A Little Exasperating How Artists Designing "princess" Or Medieval-esque Gowns Really

to get the effect of that orange gown, you've got

chemise next to the skin like a slip (not visible here) (sometimes you let a bit of this show at the neckline) (the point is not to sweat into your nice clothes and ruin them)

kirtle, or undergown. (your basic dress, acceptable to be seen by other people) this is the puffing bits visible at the elbow, cleavage, and slashed sleeve. It's a whole ass dress in there. Square neckline usually. In the left picture it's probably the mustard yellow layer on the standing figure.

coat, or gown. This is the orange diamond pattern part. It's also the bit of darker color visible in the V of the neckline.

surcoat, or sleeveless overgown. THIS is the yellow tapestry print. In the left picture it's the long printed blue dress on the standing figure

if you want to get really fancy you can add basically a kerchief or netting over the bare neck/shoulders. It can be tucked into the neckline or it can sit on top. That's called a partlet.

the best I can tell you is that they were technically in a mini-ice-age during this era. Still looks hot as balls though.

Coats and surcoats are really more for rich people though, normal folks will be wearing this look:

tbh I have a trapeze dress from target that looks exactly like that pale blue one. ye olden t-shirt dress.

so now look here:

It's Funny Although A Little Exasperating How Artists Designing "princess" Or Medieval-esque Gowns Really

(this is a princess btw) both pieces are made of the same blue material so it looks as if it's all one dress, but it's not. The sleeves you're seeing are part of the gown/coat, and the ermine fur lined section on top is a sideless overgown/surcoat. You can tell she's rich as fuck because she's got MORE of that fur on the inside of the surcoat hem.

okay so now look at these guys.

Left image (that's Mary Magdelene by the way) you can see the white bottom layer peeking out at the neckline. That's a white chemise (you know, underwear). The black cloth you see behind her chest lacing is a triangular panel pinned there to Look Cool tm. We can call that bit the stomacher. Over the white underwear is the kirtle (undergown) in red patterned velvet, and over the kirtle is a gown in black. Right image is the same basic idea--you can see the base kirtle layer with a red gown laced over it. She may or may not have a stomacher behind her lacing, but I'm guessing not.

I've kind of lost the plot now and I'm just showing you images, sorry. IN CONCLUSION:

It's Funny Although A Little Exasperating How Artists Designing "princess" Or Medieval-esque Gowns Really

you can tell she's a queen because she's got bits I don't even know the NAMES of in this thing. Is that white bit a vest? Is she wearing a vest OVER her sideless surcoat? Girl you do not need this many layers!

Undertale's usage of wordplay in the key phrase of 'Determination' is something which fascinates me in its complexities of interpretation.

First of all, we have the most standard definition: 'firmness of purpose; resoluteness.' This is the most obvious of the meanings. one's sheer willpower. and the ability to inflict that will upon the world.

Next, we have a secondary definition: 'the process of establishing something exactly by calculation or research.' This may seem to be rather unconnected to the concept of determination itself, other than perhaps tangentially by the extensive research of Determination and the subsequent formation of the Amalgamates, but I would posit that it may also refer to something different, something I was reminded of by the exact phrasing:

Undertale's Usage Of Wordplay In The Key Phrase Of 'Determination' Is Something Which Fascinates Me In

this secondary definition could also refer to a pattern of behavior which seems to arise when a given entity has reached the tipping point of Determination needed to create a Save Point- namely, the need to 'see everything that can happen'. To establish it exactly, by way of experimentation.

Next, there is 'a judicial decision or sentence.' This one is barely anything, nothing more than simple neuron activation against the scene within the Hall of Judgement. Moving on.

Now, we come to something very interesting indeed. 'the controlling or deciding of something's nature or outcome.' It can definitely be said that the player character, the possessor of the highest level of Determination within the underground, is the one responsible for the outcome of monster society- after all, this is the entire reason the Routes exist to begin with. This is likely not an aspect of Determination itself, but more of a consequence of its holding almost always resulting in one being powerful. However, there is a much more significant aspect to this choice. Or rather, to the fact that it is Choice. To summarize, this definition is essentially a statement that Determination is a synonym for Choice. And, extrapolating from this, if this line of dialogue is as important as people seem to think...

Undertale's Usage Of Wordplay In The Key Phrase Of 'Determination' Is Something Which Fascinates Me In

It might be interpreted to mean that Determination or the possession of such may hold ultimately no importance within the wider story of Deltarune(which, seems relatively obvious so far, but you never know what might happen).

And this serves as a great segue to the last item I have here to present:

Determinism:

'the doctrine that all events, including human action, are ultimately determined by causes external to the will. Some philosophers have taken determinism to imply that individual human beings have no free will and cannot be held morally responsible for their actions.'

This has some fascinating implications about The Player as an entity within the context of Undertale and Deltarune, primarily Deltarune. What those implications might be, however, I shall leave to others- I am content to simply point out the existence of the link.

Whether any of this has true meaning or not, I genuinely do not know. Confirmation bias might have conjured this out of thin air. But, I felt it was interesting enough to post nevertheless!

Addendum:

I believe this particular bit has been pointed out somewhere before, but it is worth cataloguing nevertheless: De-Termination, or, the undoing of death.

I Might've Added The BG3 Art Book To My Dnd Assets Stash

I might've added the BG3 Art Book to my dnd assets stash

It' 100% does not have things like the 5e players' handbook + 5e’s character sheet, several gm guides, critical role's explorer's guide to wildmount, baldur's gate and waterdeep city encounters, 101 potions and their effects, volo's guide to monsters, both of xanathar's guides, a bunch of other encounters, one shots, and class builds

In no way are there any pdf’s relating to any wizard who may or may not be residing on any coast

(Edit that I’ve moved the folder to the new link above! So if you catch a different version of this post that link won’t work anymore!)

I've had enough of the "Geeta is weak and lame" jokes. I'm launching my "Geeta is hilarious" agenda. This woman is "proper law and bureaucracy must be followed", "conflict and battling are what shall evolve humanity" AND "battle hungry maniac" At The Same Time, and not only would any one these traits Individually make a villain, together they manifest as Something That Resembles Lawful Good. Her battle lines consist of her genuinely praising you and laughing maniacally At The Same Time. Like half the people working under her hate her guts, half are terrified of her and half treat her as the main thing holding the region together, which let's be honest, she is. She has been described as dragging people into their job positions and how forcefully she did so is up to your interpretation, and given how she handpicked most of the people in the League AND the Academy, that says a Lot. She delegates her constitutional job to beat up her subordinates to you so she has free time to beat up everyone in the school she owns. She rejects bribes from real estate billionaires. Her ace pokemon is an eldritch flower from the fucked up crater she forbids access to. She has a goat. Geeta. is the woman of all time.

This Year I Got To Work On A Tabletop RPG Doing Some MonHun Inspired Characters And It Was A Ton Of Fun

This year I got to work on a tabletop RPG doing some MonHun inspired characters and it was a ton of fun ✨ The game revolves around the wilders, mutated rangers that try to stop the frenzy, a virus that makes monsters violent and self-destructive. Not only hunters but also chefs! WILDERFEAST is live on kickstarter right now, you can check all about it and support it here!

RPG which initially appears to take place in a Dark Souls style shitdark setting, all crumbling ruins and brooding skies and asshole skeletons posing cryptic riddles, but then you get past the tutorial and it rapidly becomes apparent that literally only the player character's home region is like that.
