Super cool Chineasy character illustrations.
I like them a lot, but am admittedly a bit torn on some of them as teaching tools. Although not all chinese characters are pictographs (symbols that are drawn to look like the things they represent), some are - as easily seen above with kou, the mouth, and ren, the person.
Nu, the woman, is also a pictograph - but it’s meant to represent the entire figure of a woman, head, limbs, and torso, not just the face. If you ignore the drawing around it and just focus on the character strokes, I think you can easily see her.
If characters already have pictographic roots, I don’t think it’s entirely necessary to create new ones. Particularly when other, more complex characters may later incorporate those same pictographic roots to make a new meaning - creating new ones could unnecessarily confuse a learner.

The Masks we wear
Why does the Skull-kid wear the mask?
The mask helps him hide his pain and loneliness
The mask gives him confidence
We all wear masks to hide our feelings and vulnerabilities
We are all Skull-kids

Love
Love is a flower
it is beautiful and full of life
take care of it and it will grow strong and produce fruit
Love is a flower
neglect it and it dies
slowly but surly it decays it fades to ash
Tears pour down my cheeks
like rain drops on a windshield
in the heavy storm of night
puddles of my broken heart fill the creases of my face
The cold numb feeling grasps my soul
my body trembles each time I hear
those words they echo in my ears, like a bell so close it’s all I hear
those powerful words traped in my ears
Want!
Kotobukiya makes some pretty nice statues and figures and I’d know – I’ve bought several of them including two of their DC Comics New 52 line. They’re not super expensive but feature quality that would make others think you paid far more than you actually did.
Continuing their Mass Effect line-up is Tali which is set to release February of next year. Pre-orders will be opening soon.
