One of the first pictures I took with my clip-on macro lens. The ones that you clip onto your phone camera are extremely good for getting decent quality images of small inverts. These robber flies are surprisingly brave considering their size, much more so than their larger cousins, who let you get just close enough and then fly a couple feet away lol!

Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis), male, taken January 11, 2025, in Georgia, US

The lighting in the photo made this bird turn out the bluest I've ever seen a bluebird. The males already get a gorgeous sapphire in the winter, but this takes it a step above! He was also a great model and sat nice and still for me!

Videos of jumping spiders jumping at my camera are one of my favorite nature-related things to collect. On top of it being adorable, there is also variation in how each spider approaches the jump, especially their windup. I like scrolling through and looking at how all of them differ as individuals! This one was pretty calm about it, but I sometimes get jumpers who only aim with one leg, or even wave their legs around wildly while preparing to jump!

This guy is clearly having trouble keeping up with his lady. I originally thought these guys were carpenter ants and got closer to see why there were so many just hanging about and instead discovered half a dozen of these beetles all gathered around. The female must have sent out pheromones because she was surrounded by interested males. However, she was clearly taken, even if her suitor was struggling to keep up with her while she wandered!

Year-round regulars at the feeders! They're always so full of personality. I can't wait to see the babies in the spring—they always look perpetually lost lol!

Preening time! This dove sat and preened vigorously for several minutes, likely staying pretty for his partner! I love seeing the doves all puffed up like this. The local pairs will often sit in the morning sun all puffed up and warming up for the day—their little morning date :)

Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor), taken April 30, 2024, in Georgia, US

A curious titmouse amongst the maple leaves! This one is older because I've been a bit bug-crazy the past few weeks, but I saw a baby starling at the feeders yesterday, so I'm going to be camping out there as babies begin showing up. I'm hoping the starling returns—they're usually pretty skittish. For now, enjoy this nice titmouse looking at me like I'm a weirdo, as they usually do lol.

Some out of focus images of my son because I love him so much.. I saw him again yesterday on the same plant, so he must like it where he is lol. Even after seeing tons of these guys, I still can't get over how cute they are, especially as nymphs! Their large, charismatic eyes, bright colors, and little dances have captivated me, I fear.

Vetch Looper Moth (Caenurgia chloropha), taken April 2, 2025, in Georgia, US

It's new moth season! I'm seeing lots of inchworms dropping from the trees as well as lots of seasonal moths! It's nice to see something more than renia moths for once lol. This guy was a little skittish, but ultimately let me get some pictures. Most moths are much worse subjects!

Jumping Spider (Pelegrina proterva), male, taken March 18, 2025, in Georgia, US

My first angry face of the year! Regardless of his grumpy appearance, I missed him dearly this winter. These guys are quite common in my area, especially the males which like to climb the posts of my boardwalk to hunt. They're quite hard to distinguish from some other species in the genus unless you compare them side-by-side, but luckily this is the only species of this genus that appears in my normal hunting grounds, so I'd notice if they looked off. The females are a different story entirely, as is the case for most in Dendryphantina...
