This year reminds us that, in the world of stories, Severus Snape would have turned 65. At this age, he’d barely be considered old—still walking the twilight of middle age, with time to reflect, heal, and perhaps find the peace that always eluded him.

It’s a sobering thought: only 27 years ago, his life was cut short at the age of 38. So young, with countless years ahead to grow beyond the shadows that defined him. He never saw the turning of seasons that age might have brought—wisdom without war, love without pain, and a life lived for himself, not for sacrifice.

In his absence, he lingers—ageless and eternal. A life unfinished, yet a legacy that transcends time. In the hearts of those who remember, Severus Snape remains forever young—a timeless figure in a story that endlessly inspires.

Snape was not "obsessed" with Lily like a "creepy stalker."

If he’d been obsessed with Lily he would have followed her around everywhere at school. You know. Like an actual stalker.

He would have asked her out all the time. He wouldn’t have backed off after she told him to leave her alone. He would have done everything he could think of to win back her affection after insulting her.  He wouldn’t have respected her enough to allow their friendship to end because people who are obsessed don’t actually respect the feelings of the object of their obsession. They don’t have boundaries. 

If he were obsessed with Lily he would have sat in front of their house in Godric’s Hollow all the time after her death. He would have tried to go through her belongings. He would have built a fucking shrine to her, collected Daily Prophet clippings with Lily’s photo and kept them in a scrapbook or some shit. Snape ain’t got no time for that. He’s got a teaching gig at Hogwarts because he moved on and lived his life.

If Snape were obsessed with Lily he wouldn’t have helped Harry at all because if it didn’t bring Lily back then what would the point in that be? Obsession is selfish. There was nothing in it for Snape and it didn’t bring Lily back. So how is sacrificing his life, safety, and comfort for Harry/Dumbledore/Lily selfish? 

Why are y'all perverting the word “love” for the sake of hating a fictional character? 

A reminder to fanfiction snobs who run their mouth and critique the quality of some peoples works.

Not every writer on here wants to be an actual fuckin author.

Not everyone on here takes their writing super seriously.

Some people LIKE to keep things short and very simple

Some people DON'T like to be overly descriptive in their writing.

Some people aren't out here TRYING to write fuckin novels.

Some people perhaps have inattentive ADHD and cannot FOCUS long enough on trying to write novel quality work.

When they leave you and your friend’s the one who supported you. So, when they are back, your friend gets protective of you.

“Did you really think we could rebuild what we had? Rebuild us?”

"I need time to adjust to your existence again."

Those longing stares but not being able to do anything about it, because you don't want to repeat the same mistakes

Telling them to leave you alone, even though you just want to be in their arms

When they smile sadly at you, and you just have to physically restrain yourself from wanting to kiss them

"I'm sorry, I-" "Isn't it a little late for an apology?"

"We could've worked out, if only you didn't act like a jerk and left me."

"Please, I want to make up for what I did in the past. Just please."

"Can we...be more than this? I was an idiot for leaving you, but now I want to make this right. Make us right."

"It feels like...like I'm here with you, but I'm also not here because my present-self is still haunted by my past self, past you, past us."

Them trying to do everything and anything to make it up to you

"I need time, okay? I can't do this right now."

"You should've at least told me why you thought I was better without you. But, no, you just left, like I didn't matter to you. Like, it was only you that needed to make decisions for both of us."

"It's not fair. You're not fair. You can't just come back in my life and expect me to get all lovey-dovey with you. That's not how it works, that's not how life works."

Those accidental touches that have you flinching because it's just been so long since you've touched them. OR you crave touching them more.

"I was a fool for leaving you. But I hope this fool can get a second chance to love." They say with a sad smile, trying to hold in their tears/or maybe full on sobbing.
