mob au: the visit
It’s a perfect Sunday morning by the pool, and Annabeth can’t help but be mesmerized by the shine of her engagement ring. It twinkles with a shade of blue she’s only seen before in Caribbean waters and she thinks the pool should be ashamed for even trying to keep up.
She sits at a table covered in a gorgeous breakfast spread with the local paper in hand as her fiancé swims his usual laps in the background, her ring distracting her from the article on changes to downtown parking meters.
Percy pops out of the pool, his trunks hanging low on his hips, as he begins to dry himself off with his favorite shark towel and Annabeth catches herself biting her bottom lip while watching him. Charles clears his throat as he holds up a cell phone and Annabeth shakes her head to clear it of her impure thoughts.
“It’s the warden,” Charles says, handing her the phone.
Her mood changes and her eyes narrow as she takes the phone and brings it up to her ear.
“Warden Kampe, to what do I owe this pleasure?”
Percy pops a few blueberries in his mouth as he raises his eyebrows at Annabeth and mouths “you ok?” Annabeth forces a smile and winks at him, making him relax a bit as he takes a sip of orange juice and sits across from his love.
“I can be there in twenty minutes, warden.”
Annabeth stands, guilt washing over her face. “I’m sorry, baby, I have to-’”
“Work,” Percy finishes for her. “I have some photos to edit anyway.” He stands to meet her and wraps an arm around her waist, placing a playful kiss to her lips. “I’ll be here waiting for you when you’re done.”
Annabeth smiles against Percy’s mouth and kisses him back, her fingers curling into the hair at the back of his head. “I won’t be too long, I promise.”
She walks into the house and changes into her standard grey blouse and black pencil skirt, accompanied by her favorite pair of black heels. Gathering her curls up into a high ponytail, she watches as a couple of stray curls fall to frame her face. Lastly, she applies a dark shade of red lipstick, which her mother had always said was a woman’s greatest ally in their line of business. Lipstick sends a message, she had told Annabeth one night while braiding her hair. It draws men’s eyes and keeps them distracted, leaving you all the time in the world to do what needs to be done.
As she steps outside with all of her armor on, she finds Charles waiting with the car door open, his face serious as if he’s anticipating some big show down. Annabeth pats him on the arm as she passes him.
“Don’t look so glum, Charles. This is gonna be fun.”
Charles shakes his head as he closes the door after her. “Poor son of a bitch,” he laughs to himself.

Funny how gay people are allowed to love being gay but trans people aren’t allowed to love being trans or else they’re faking 🤔
riptide chapter 9
Katie sits between Grover and Percy on the couch while Annabeth stands at her mystery board, filling in some blanks.
“What do you mean you don’t know who you’re working for?” Annabeth asks, her brow furrowed. “How is that possible?”
Katie has her arms propped on her knees with her head in her hands. “I don’t know what to tell you. He’s very good about hiding his identity. All I know is he goes by Mercury and has super speed which is how he keeps tabs on all of us. It’s pretty hard to keep an eye out for someone you can’t see.”
Grover looks around the room like a prey animal who senses a predator. “Do you think he’s here right now?”
“No, he took Boar and Gemini on a mission to retrieve whatever it is he’s looking for. They’re not supposed to be back for a week or so. He just told me to keep you busy, and technically, I am doing exactly that.”
“You don’t even know who he’s the Champion of?” Percy asks.
Katie shakes her head as she leans back on the couch. “The only Houses I know of that could have super speed haven’t been active for at least three generations.”
“Well can you tell us more about Gemini?” Annabeth asks. “He’s the one in purple, right?”
“Yeah,” Katie confirms. “He’s kind of grumpy, to be honest. Not really a small talk guy.”
“What about his powers?” Percy asks.
“It’s kind of a mixed bag. Wild animals listen to him, and if he touches your forehead, he can make you lose it.”
“What do you mean lose it?”
“I mean the security guard at the first jewelry store we broke into spent a month in Bellevue before Mercury made him sneak in and return him to normal.”
“Jesus,” Percy says with disgust. “How the hell did that help anyone beat monsters however long ago?”
Katie shrugs. “My keeper said some powers have evolved over time, so that may not even be what that Champion started with. It can do different things to different people.”
“That’s so cool,” Grover says. “Bad but… pretty cool.”

I often get messages from teens living with their abusive parents telling me about how terrifying it is for them to even look at my blog in case their parent finds out. I was a teenager before social networking on the internet. Honestly, when I was a teenager there was barely an internet yet. So, I don’t know how people protect themselves but I feel like probably there are ways. If you know please do share! A lot of people would find it helpful.

“I hope to see you again, Miss…”
It could be a title, but the look he gives her indicates it’s an invitation to give her name. Annabeth plays dumb, knowing he’ll see through it.
Her chest rises with her breath. “And I you, Percy.”
He grins at the promise and the sound of his name, his eyes darting to her mouth as he turns his horse. Even as he rides away, he casts a glance at Annabeth over his shoulder. Laughter rings in the air as clear as the summer sky. It’s a charming sound, Annabeth thinks. She can’t wait to hear it again.

hey! so for those of you who didn’t already know, i currently live in Japan, where same-sex marriage is not yet legal. tomorrow afternoon, the Japanese Diet is having a hearing concerning same-sex marriage, and they’re “gauging interest” based on the viewership of the livestream. basically, if people don’t watch, they’ll just write off the issue as niche and avoid it for as long as possible.
i’m posting about this here because, for ~some reason~, the hearing is to start at 1pm. on a regular thursday. when people are at work.
so, for those of you who will be awake at 1pm JST on thursday the 26th of november, i ask you to please contribute to the youtube live viewer count. i’ll put the link in a reblog.
thanks in advance!

That judge who asked young children if they even knew what a lawyer was and then continued to proceed on their cases is a piece of shit and I hope he rots slowly while alive, he should have refused, what a pathetic evil motherfucker who actually spoke to these children face to face and still proceeded to treat them like criminals and send them off to god knows what kinda awful shit, I hope that sick fuck gets a very slow painful disease
things she has to deal with I swear😭😂
This man has gone through so much for the criminal act of not letting a cop kill a man and face no consequences. He was jailed, an attempt was made on his life, and his efforts to be heard about the mistreatment he faced was suppressed.
Please consider donating to The Ramsey Orta Welcome Home Fund if you have something to spare. No one should have to endure the things he has endured for demanding justice.
and they were roommates (chapter ten)
The waiting goes easier than Annabeth thought it would.
That being said, the week itself isn’t easy. Annabeth takes five midterms in three days, which should be illegal. She spends her days in the cafe with Piper, the library with Jason, or laying on the floor of the apartment like a starfish. If Annabeth’s limbs could regrow, she would chop one off to get some extra study time. That being said, she is not a starfish, just a college kid laying on the linoleum floor and seriously contemplating dropping out and making a living by selling non-vital organs. People don’t need both of their kidneys, right?
In the end, Annabeth makes it through midterms with both her kidneys and far less panic than last semester. Though really she should thank fall midterms for being so horrible. If she hadn’t broken down then, who knows how long it would’ve taken her to realize her feelings for Percy.
States is a two-day affair, meaning that Saturday is put on hold while Percy competes in the preliminary heats. Thankfully, the meet is right outside the city, so he isn’t holed up in a hotel for the night. Annabeth and Grover, who is staying with them for the weekend, beat Percy home after the day of spectating and smile as he trudges through the door. He may not compete in many events, but the day drags on in a way that invites weariness into even the most rested of bodies.
After Grover claps Percy on the back and heads to the bathroom, Percy collapses face-first into the couch where Annabeth is sprawled, his face tucking into the crook of her neck. A content sigh tickles her skin, and she nearly shoves him off for it. But he winces as his shoulders relax, making his breath hitch in a way that’s honestly illegal for him to do above her when there’s nothing she can do about it.
“Uh, guys.” Grover stands in the hallway, covering his eyes. “I would like to remind you that this is my bed for the night.”
Percy chuckles, the warm air on Annabeth’s neck making her squirm. “You’re welcome to get in on this, bud.”
