Also trying to work on my shading by adding a variety of hues and different areas of reflective and ambient lighting

Comments from a Hurt Man
The other day I read the first panel's quote (paraphrased) as a comment from a cis man on a trans man's physical transition.
For some reason, of all the vile things hurled at trans people, this statement in particular stuck with me. It repeated in my head for a week. Probably, it resonated my own fear that cis men see me as a masquerader among them. That they think I don't take it as seriously as my own skin.
So I let the comment rattle around in my skull and out onto paper. Who was this hurt person? Why was he threatened by trans men simply being joyful of their bodies? What more might he say - and what would it really all boil down to in the end?
Leo and Gavin see themselves as different kinds of men. Gavin feels uncomfortable in "straight guy" spaces like the auto parts store, and Leo feels more at home in those spaces. Leo fears violence from the police as a black man, whereas Gavin, a white man, does not. Yet they both find themselves shifting and balancing their masculinity as they move through different contexts - not wanting to seem too feminine or gay in some settings but not wanting to be too masculine either. Another thing that Leo and Gavin have in common is that they are both trans men, in this case men who were assigned female at birth, raised as girls, and then transitioned to live as men.

"I love you, Mav"
In 1944 a kitten named George (short for General Electric) was saved from drowning by a U.S. Navy crew member. George was then photographed and given a liberty card and detailed health record. Source.
in the next few seconds, after many increasingly agitated warnings, mav will bend his spine in a way that shouldnt be possible, twisting like a trapped cat and mauling Slider's poor arm like one as well. Slider will drop him with a yelp and a curse, Mav is gonna land painfully and sprain something, resulting in both of them staring at each other owlishly at the unintentional escalation into Actual Injuries.
Ice will sigh a world-weary sigh and play nurse to the two idiots while said two idiots guiltily try to convey to each other that they Didn't Mean It, all without actually saying so.
