Gus stans how we feeling !!!
And here comes another Fruits Basket meme for (hopefully) your pleasure. This is my own template, blank at the end if you wanna use
Where is your fav located ? Do you have a soft spot for the hot mess(es) or do you prefer the unusually stable ones ?
The characters & ships playlist are going well too; get ready for a post about it soon 8)
Good night to you all in the meantime !
I LOVE THEM TOO okay let's review, i'm gonna make this a thing
Blake & Pyrrha very on point yes, unsure how to react (+ awkward because Pyrrha probably often got that actually ??)
WHITLEY HAS PROBABLY NEVER SEEN ANYONE WINKING AT HIM EISGSKUGSH I want that image, I wanna see him seeing a flirty wink for the first time. His brain is gonna "???". Maybe he's gonna be a tomato since he's so pale. And pretend to be all huffy about it.
Rosegarden mutual blush go go.
All of these adults would absolutely wink back. And Qrow, like the disaster that he is, would actually get flustered over a loving smile & a soft look instead. WAIT actually the last time someone winked at him he just kinda stood there like o. but there was the whole semblance thing so imma give it a pass
i love how Yang, Nora and Penny, Tyrian are all in the same case but for very different reason. Yang & Nora are just chaotic & over the top as usual. While Penny is just : is this a human custom ? is that how you do it ? *holds one eye close for a whole minute* did I do it right Tyrian is threatening you while laughing maniacally
Jaune is confused or doesn't notice indeed. Winter is more than confused, she doesn't even understand what she's confused about. she must have seen wrong
Ironwood & Emerald being sandwiched between confusion ??? and IMMEDIATE SUSPICION is so on point I can already see it. (well i can't because i can't visualize to save my life but you get the point)
And again Weiss' suspicion would be different from IW & Emerald because the latter two are just like : ?? what do you want from me ?? meanwhile Weiss is just being her usual responsible representative looking at the winker like "what are you doing ?"
Ozpin is squinting like : i... i am literally your headmaster what are you doing. then he probably just jiggles his mug a bit, smiles & tries to... forget. totally will forget. yeaa. well depends who's winking tbh
Jaune & Ruby are good in the oblivious corner too, but Ren is the true king & reigns supreme in that category. which i absolutely relate to. ren is an ace icon, i mean have you SEEN THAT COOKING APRON ?
here have another XD
How can Ruby both be flustered AND oblivious, you ask? She's just that powerful.
Ozpin wants to help, really, it's just that their experience with opening up consists of repeatedly being killed, and they never went to therapy either
Ozpin: Don’t worry Oscar, I’ll always be here to help you when you’re in need
Oscar: Okay, I really need your help with my emotions
Ozpin who is terrible with emotions: Um… clean your room
Oscar: God dammit, you never help me ever!
If you're looking at this and thinking "wow, biased much ?" then yes Full bias, bias intended, they're MY fav and I get to make them fill out the Valid category 😤
I don't think anyone in the show is more qualified for Chaotic Bastard than Tyrian I like James Ironwood but for legal reasons called "whatever-happened-to-you-in-Vol8" he's going here
Ozpin is smart but also a dumbass. Qrow, Vol 7 Ep 12, need I say more ?
Though the jokes that "since gay pride month is over, july is now gay wrath month" are funny and all, it's important to remember that July is ACTUALLY Disability Pride Month and y'all should really be focused on boosting disabled voices and issues this month! For instance, the fact that marriage equality doesn't actually truly exist in the United States for disabled people, or the fact that disabled people are forced to live in poverty or lose their disability benefits, or the fact that 1 in 5 people with chronic pain end up sufferring from alcoholism or other addictions, or how accessibility is still a daily battle for all of us, or how there are active hate groups on places like reddit who try to "call out" those they see as "faking" their disabilities.
This July, boost disabled voices. Talk about the issues that our community faces. Call out ableism.

I was heavily debating rendering these but Nah I think the gloomy grayscale worked better so!!

Reaching Out breakdown Part 1 : Luz & Amity
Last ep was AMAZING. Best ep of the S2B in my opinion, seeing as the show (so far) has suffered a bit from trying to put 2 plotlines in each episode (I don't hold it against them seeing as Disney is cutting them short), plotlines that weren't always cohesive or could appear to take time from each other. But the last one ?? *chief's kiss*
To start off : we are still left with 2 plotlines (even more we could say) but as they are all focused in the same place, the overall pacing & the episode itself is way more cohesive and it allows them time to let everyone have their spotlight & development without any frustration. There are even more plotlines than the previous ep and it is still AMAZING. Because let's review, we have :
Luz struggling with the aniversary of her dad's passing + still reeling from the ramifications of not being able to go back home
Amity trying to relate to her dad, fighting for her future and suffering the consequences of Luz's inability to reach out
Eda scheming and attempting to get informations out of the warden Wrath regarding Raine & the Day of Unity
Edric feeling useless, overshadowed & out of place compared to his siblings because of his "jack-of-all-trades" disposition that isn't highly valued by most of the witches world.
Development of Amity's family in general, through making Alador more of a character with his own failings (neglect) different from Odalia's downright abusive and controlling behaviour, and showing more of Edric & Emira's personnalities.
And all of the plotlines went together swimmingly, which I really really loved ! Like, my fav character is probably Hunter, I really liked Any Sport in a Storm, but I can't tell you how much I appreciated Reaching Out. It made me love & care soo much about Luz & Amity all over again.
Point n°1 : The Lumity, and Luz & Amity themselves, were absolutely amazing. I absolutely love these girls' relationships but was personally sorta dissatisfied with their intervention in Any Sport in a Storm... Mostly because I don't really care about the Luzura books and thus this subplot really didn't speak to me. THIS EP THOUGH ? Both of them really shined, as HUMANS with mistakes to their name.
-> Luz, for starter, is an amazing teenager. She's friendly, curious, full of energy & compassion. But it's also refreshing to let her make mistakes & be imperfect : in this episode, she wasn't. She was going through a really hard time, and inadvertently used Amity to distract herself from it even if it meant only ''pretending'' to be doing this for her & inadvertently causing her trouble in the end. The episode acknowledged it, but didn't bash Luz in any way for it. Because we as humans are a complex canvas and wonderful people can make mistakes, can hurt people. And it doesn't make them any wonderful as a package. Luz, in general, has a problem (similar to Eda) with sharing what's bothering her. It's 2 times in a row now that she's failed to share with Amity what was on her mind and brushed her off, and this time really managed to show how hurtful it can be as the other party, even if Luz doesn't have any ill will while doing this. This episode allowed Amity to be upset over Luz (however inadvertent) hurtful actions & how her tendency to run away from her emotions can come back to bite her in the back later.
Luz acknowledged what she did was wrong, that she had reasons but not excuses, she even let herself express some ugly feelings; and she genuinely apologized. She allowed herself to be weak and to share what was bothering HER, all while admitting that her way of coping wasn't healthy or fair to Amity. I loved that, not because I hate Luz but because she's a teenager, she will make mistakes as we all do, and what she did showed an incredible emotional maturity. I am only proud of her <3
-> Amity got another episode to shine again as her own person, to explore her aspirations for the future outside of her realtionship to Luz, and how she felt about her other parent. She was allowed this episode to be disappointed & upset over the turn of event, and to show how Luz's inability to share her problems was hurting her girlfriend (both mentally & in more concrete ways). At the same time, Amity showed incredible care & gentleness because these two love each other and Luz had a damn good reason to be feeling down and out of place. A concept I heard in a Cinema Therapy video is called "putting it on a shelf" : it occurs when (in any kind of relationships) both people have something they want to do or say, or both have an issue; but one of said things/issues is way more important at the present time and so you put "on hiatus" your own situation to properly take care of the other. Amity this episode made a great use of this concept, and showed herself to truly be an "Awesome Girlfriend".
Amity listening intently to Luz and dropping the judgment as soon as her girlfriend opened up, as well as taking the time to reassure her that she LISTENED, she HEARD and she definitely CARED for what she was going through was an absolutely amazing show of love; and I appreciated that so so much.
In conclusion : an incredible Lumity episode, that doesn't hesitate to tackle some very real issues with honesty but kindness. These girls are still growing, they're bound to make mistakes. But so long as they care about each other and vow to do better : they will be okay.
Part 2 with the other plotlines incoming !
I must say I'm not pleased by the amount of Ozpin bashing I'm seeing during vol 9. This ain't the show's, fault, it's the viewers not understanding shit.
Specifically that the leader speech that Ozpin gave Ruby and fucked her up (and the same Ruby gave to Jaune, fucking HIM up in turn) is one that he also applies to himself 100%. We saw the consequences of that in vol 6, now we're seeing the consequences for Ruby and Jaune now.
