can someone please explain why this ship is a thing/so popular, its in the two most kudosed fics for ff7 on ao3 and i'm a lil confused how its gained so much traction/become so shippable

(i'm newer to the fandom so my knowledge is pretty much limited to remake/rebirth/crisis core reunion)
